I was Not looking for a SmartTV because budget constraints, still wanted to have internet feed from laptop to TV specially when I watch youtube or netflix. One Best Buy employee suggested me Chromecast while I was buying TV. This is exactly what i was looking for. Just around $35-40 and it saved me extra probably $300 for SmartTV !! I love it and that's why taking pain to give a review. Thanks

Not enough functionality or apps avaiable. I beleive the produvt needs more development.

connect my Big TV with this chormecast and run my Android table and I can watch Online TV with my big screen now.

the chromecast device is very cool. I don't understand why it doesn't work when a PC is connected wirelessly to the Internet.

The Chromecast unit was a little touchy to set it up several years ago. Since then, they service keeps working better and better, which I attribute to improvements at the Apps and software at the company level. The system allows me to seamlessly connect to the home big-screen. I don't know how the other similar products work, but I have no complaints for the Chromecast.

Google Chromecast is simply the best when it comes to casting various applications to your TV from a set of various devices like your PC, smartphone etc.,

Viewing movies at home using my home theater system together with little gadget could never be convenient. We don't plan in going to a movie theater gor now.

Excellent choice for watching movies and other files on TV. DESIGN SUPER small and comfortable. I would totally recommend

the initial set up took a little while (i had to download & install chrome), but was not difficult at all. once it was all set up, it is very easy to use. i stream from my iphone no problem, but i've been told the streaming quality wouldnt be as good if i used my laptop. not a big deal to me, but good to know. also, i have pretty basic wifi and have had no issues with picture quality or buffering.

I have some trouble when switching from tv to tv but other than that it works great.

Since Apple TV doesn't have the Showtime app, I use Chromcast to stream Showtime. It has really come in handy and works excellent with all of my devices.

I have been bored with HBO and SHOWTIME, and TIRED of paying a huge cable bill. We compromised at our house and got Netflix. It was great except if we wanted to watch something as a family, a small 15" lap top does not do the job. I was surprised how inexpensive the Chromcast Player was and how easy it was to set up. No kidding, 4 min top to set up including downloading the app time. It is a deal!

Easy to set up and I love how easy it is to stream movies into my TV from my phone!

Be completely sure you have an existing internet connection, as it uses Wi-Fi, not blu-tooth, to connect to your device.

We use mostly to watch Netflix. Our 6 year old is able to cast youtube from a cell phone with no problems. Serves it's purpose. We would totally buy again!

Bough online for 29.99 and then went into the store for pickup where it was 35. Product works as expected. Good to diversify between roku and chromecast.

I purchased this device to be able to stream Netflix and Hulu Plus to a non-smart TV. This has worked so well, that we are currently plugging the device into out smart TV because it is so much easier to use that the built in features. Being able to browse Netflix from my phone, while watching a show, and being able to pause and play the show all from my mobile device. Now that is convenience.

The Google Chromecast has worked as advertised. No problems so far. It was easy to set-up and instructions were adequate.

This device works as advertised, just not at the quality expected. The chromecast works initially by connecting directly to its setup network, then once set up, changes to a device on the local (joined) WiFi system. This is where the quality is lost. If they had kept the peer to peer connection, it would have been a faster direct connection and improved quality overall. I primarily purchased this to use when traveling, staying in hotels to play my personal content on the bigger tv screen. Internet speeds are very limited and slow at hotels and thus makes the chromecast barely usable. It would be nice to have the option to use the peer to peer connection to play content directly to the tv versus streaming from the Internet to the device then to the chromecast. On a hardware note, this thing gets very hot! Make sure it is well ventilated and don't remove it after prolonged use immediately. It is recommended to use the USB on the tv, but in my experience it stayed cooler when using the included wall plug. (Still very hot, just not as hot when plugged into the TV.) If you think this will steam the content as it does on your device, you will be pretty disappointed with the quality. Overall though it is a good device to use at an extremely low cost.

The dongle is great for putting your phone on TV for the whole family to enjoy.
