Using chrome cast to cast movies, tv shows etc using your apps like Hulu and Netflix makes it very easy. Best news is other than the $35 cost of the device and your normal subscriptions there is no extra cost. Just more options!

In my personal experience, and from reviewing several online forums it looks like other's experience as well, the Chromecast is disappointing. The problem relies with the engineering of the product. It has a poor system for ventilation, which results in overheating. While in use, the Chromecast will overheat quickly, resulting in poor performance. It continuously drops the wi-fi connection, freezes and displays a scattered display on the TV at times. The Chromecast comes with a built-in metal plate heat-sink which just makes it hotter, so there is no good way to dissipate the heat. Unless you manually rig the Chromecast with a personally fitted heat-sink or mini-fan to keep it cool, it will not perform as advertised.

I can used with my smartphone, tablet, or notebook. Any Brand. I can watch online content on my HDTV using my Chrome cast, and easy to set up. As I do not need any cable connection to my phone or my tablet, and it's easy to use and my whole family uses it

It nice for a person that wants a smart tv but doesn't have the money for one

I"ve had a ROKU 3 as my primary streaming box for about two years. I was relocated for 6 months for work and bought the CC for streaming at my "Work House". I was not disappointed. All the apps I use one the ROKU I was able to use with the CC. PLUS I could stream anything else from my PC, and this thing supports google play music. I bought my mom the 2nd gen for Christmas 2015. I now have my 1st gen and ROKU plugged into my TV. I did notice that one time the CC was streaming for two days without the TV being set to it's input. it used almost 200GB of data according to my OnHub router. I think a youtube video was started then the tv turned off, and it just kept playing the next video...

Can not complain about this device. Works just fine.

This does a great job of streaming from your laptop or mobile device to your tv. Mobile devices have to have apps like youtube or hulu plus or netflix to be useful for them. Otherwise you cant stream from mobile devices. Great quality for the ones i listed above but normal sites sometimes arent that great. You have to have full screen up for any sites other than the apps that arent compatible. You can solve this by alt tabing after you go to full screen. Im a little disappointed bc i dont really use the above apps that much so i dont get as much use out of this product. It is good for the price though.

The setup looked to have gone well, but it didn't work the first time. It said that it connected to my wireless network, but could not reach the internet. Chromecast support listed many error messages, but not this one. I had to reset the device for it to finally work. The first time around I changed the name of the device as it says that you can, but I think that caused the issue. After resetting the device I left the name alone and it worked without an issues. Not sure exactly what the problem was. I did restart my router when I had the initial problem, so I don't think it was the network.
