If your looking to stream video over to your non smart TV then this is the device you want to have. It's not independent but nowadays everyone has a smart phone and wifi at home/hotel's that they can use to stream video from. Overall great product!!!!

Limited in function compared to fire stick or roku

The connection sometimes does not sync directly. I have really good internet connections, but for some reason this device does not work properly. I am actually thinking about purchasing Roku instead.

A great price for a piece of equipment which allows one to broadcast to TV from any device Google's Chrome can be loaded onto. I really like it. Too bad you can only cast thru Chrome; I can think of other uses as well, but overall, great bang for the buck!

Able to stream entire desktop as well. Once more features are supported, this will rock. Netflix streaming is clearer than streaming directly from my samsung tv.

This is a great product! It allows me to watch material on Netflix and YouTube on my TV while using my iPod. I can also view just about anything from the internet as long as I use the Chrome browser. The Chromecast is one of the best inventions in years!

It makes watching netflix much better by not having to plug in the laptop .

I like Google - Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player because I can share my laptop screen on my TV. I would like only to have more options to stream with google-chromecast for now there is only a few options.

Great product for the price, light weight and comfortable to wear and use. Great sound quality and clear voice sound to the person you are talking with.

Great for the price but feels like a novelty due to its limitations. Wish it could be used with most any program. This is why I would not recommend to a friend.

So easy to set up a four year old could do it, and did. Grandson helped walk me through the process because he watched his mom set up theirs. Now he can watch movies from his tablet on our tv

The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is the fact that it doesn't support the 5GHz frequency which would most likely result in smoother streaming. I have an amazing modem/router/Wi-Fi and stream from a Chromebook with a Wireless N card, yet streaming HD movies still results in a faint choppiness. BOTTOMLINE: if you're a videophile/technological perfectionist in any way, then don't settle for a Chromecast. If you're a casual HD movie streamer, then go for it. It's cheap!
