Posted .Hi GARETT, we appreciate your feedback. Your Nest Learning Thermostat can automatically switch to Eco Temperatures after it senses that nobody’s home. You’ll know Eco Temperatures are active when you see Eco on your thermostat and in the Google Home app. You can set Eco Temperatures when you are at home to help save energy.
You can also add Nest Learning Thermostat to your Home/Away Routines. You can create Routines in the Home app that can use presence sensing to automatically adjust your home devices when someone comes home and when everyone’s away. Check out the help links below for more information:

The eco setting is great and it’s also great that you can set the air and heat to on at the same time and the thermostats will automatically keep the house between your upper and lower limit temps by auto switching between AC and heat.

I also like that it keeps track of when to change my air filter

What I didn’t like is that it doesn’t integrate with SmartThings very well you can still control the thermostat but very basic. Also I have a harmony remote once it integrated with it but unfortunately once nest went with google it has became incompatible.

I think the greatest thing about it is that you can lock it so the kids can’t adjust the temperature and waste the energy (gas/electric) and I can control it from my phone.

It works great especially if you are out of town and have teenagers. You can always adjust the temperature back to where it’s supposed to be!

Instillation was straight forward. We didn't need extra power wire. Wish backing plate matched the color of housing. A little early to review how well it learns.

Beware, you must charge these before installing, especially refurbished units. After talking to Nest tech that was a big issue. At least 30 minutes.

Your Nest thermostat gets its power from your HVAC system’s wiring. There are cases where these wires can't deliver enough power to support the Nest thermostat's features, then they start draining the batteries and disconnect from your Wifi network. In such cases, installing a common(C) wire between your HVAC and Nest thermostats can resolve the battery drain problem.
