And at this price it’s hard to beat. A couple of important points from my time with it. 1) the eco features are annoying and, from what I can tell so far, you can’t completely disable them 2) Matter support still isn’t here across the board for this model. It’s a waiting game. Once it’s there, this will be compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. In the meantime, I have to use the Google Home app which is unintuitive and annoying. But alas.

We suggest switching the device to Off mode as this disables all regular heating and cooling schedules. Your thermostat won’t turn on heating or cooling and won’t maintain your Eco Temperatures.
The Nest Thermostat is one of the Google Nest products that will support Matter, meaning that it will be possible for you to control your thermostat from third party platforms that are Matter certified. Simple, clean and great for my heat pump

This is my second Nest thermostat, but the first I have installed in a house with a heat pump. Checking the wiring and installation was easy, but there were many false starts, with the app declaring that the thermostat was incompatible with my heat pump. It took a few YouTube videos before I learned how to tell the install app what my wiring was like. The look of the thermostat is clean, and I appreciate how it stays dark until you walk up to it. I like that you swipe the edge to adjust the temps. However, my wife finds it to be counterintuitive. Go figure. I manage my house and my in-law's house remotely with the app, which is nice to see temp and humidity. After the recent installation of a new HVAC at my in-law's house, the Home app alerted us to some issues. This was awesome, as there was an undetected install issue, which the contractor fixed immediately! Thanks, Google Home! The only issue I had with the installation (and is it an issue?) was that the refurbished unit was delivered without the batteries, but the rest of the gear was in there.

Excellent Cost Cutter

I spent some time debating between this model and the step up version, but this little guy has exceeded my expectations. I’ve noticed a decrease in the electric bill almost immediately. The schedules and times are easy to setup. Definitely recommend.

Nice upgrade to prior thermostat

I had to get a faceplate but that only made it easier to install. The thermostat itself is fairly easy to use. Touch the side. slide your finger up or down to get to the item you want and tap. I have the $250 learning NEST thermostat downstairs and find it easier to use but this one is nice. I like being able to see the set temp when walking by as it has motion sensing.

Google thermostar nest

They're easy to install, easy to use and allow remote access to my thermostat. But why would they ever change their signature dial to adjust the temp? The new interface for temp control on the thermostat is dumb and not intuitive. Luckily, these are mostly set and forget.

The installation is easy and your app does most of the work for you but there was nothing but the thermostat and the base in the refurbished version I got. Works fine though.
