Must Have
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you write anything more than a paragraph or two at a time with your tablet, I would highly recommend gettign a keyboard for your Pixel Slate. Sure, you can type with the built in keyboard that pops up over the bottom half of the screen, but therein lies the problem... it covers half the screen. With a keyboard, you don't need that on the screen so get to see the whole screen when entering in messages or filling out forms. If you're a touch typer, you'll notice the feel of the keyboard is a little tight. In order to fit everything, keys seems to be a little closer together....or perhaps the letters themselves are just smaller. There are no function keys on the keyboard, nor is there a numeric keypad. You can probably get away w/o the function keys. However, if you are heavily into entering numerical data, you'll need to get an external numeric keypad to use with the system. One other thing the keyboard helps with is fingers on the tablet screen. Sure, you can get a stylus for all the screen interactions, but you're going to still touch the screen. With the keyboard, you don't get all the fingrerprints, etc., on the screen. And... the keyboard does also act as a case for the tablet. And that case provides a great way to prop up the tablet at an angle for a better viewing angle.

Clumsy and awkward
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The official keyboard and cover for the Pixel Slate is pretty meh. Sure, the fit is perfect, but the execution leaves much to be desired. Unlike MS's flagship tablet/laptop hybrid with removable keyboard cover, this product covers both the front and back of the tablet, due to the lack of any kind of kick stand built into the tablet itself. The back cover is the typical tablet triangle fold-up stand with an added small magentic flap to allow for multiple angles (though not sturdy enough to allow for some of the angles shown off in the "infinitely adjustable" demos), and the front consists of the keyboard cover with circular keys. The unorthodox key shape makes for some odd feeling crevasses between the keys when you rest your fingers on them and also makes them feel weirdly spaced out, like I have to almost stretch each finger when typing. The connector is on the "spine" of the tablet, the back cover magnetically sticks to the back of the device, with the keyboard side of the cover left to swing freely. When closed up, the flexible hinge means that the keyboard part of the cover is not firmly and rigidly in line with the tablet at all times. When carrying it in one hand, due to the weight of the full combination of tablet and keyboard, I found my thumb that was gripping the keyboard side of the case would constantly rotate the case out of alignment with the tablet. This made the case itself feel cheap and flimsy compared to the one on the MS tablets. Ultimately, you almost have to buy this keyboard/cover if you buy the Slate. I just wish it was better engineered to be a case first, then a keyboard.

I want to love it, but round keys?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to love this keyboard, I really do. If I was rating this merely as a case for the Slate, I would probably give it 5 stars. I absolutely love how many different ways this case can be used with the Slate. They did an amazing job developing the keyboard case together to incorporate magnets. It can sit up in many different positions, simply by sliding the back kickstand up or down the back of the slate, but then it also feels great folded all the way over like a book in tablet mode. The Slate knows when you are using the case in different ways, it really us intuitive and a pleasure to use in this way. It is a little heavy though and when attached to the Slate, but still in line with other similar devices. My only gripe is with the keyboard itself. The round keys take so much getting used to. I type on 4 other keyboards frequently (Surface, Apple Magic Keyboard and two Logitechs) and I just cannot get used to this one. Why round keys?? To be perfectly honest, if there were simple thin cases available for the Slate without the keyboard, I would probably prefer that because I hate typing on this keyboard.

Great potential, but flawed.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything about this keyboard would be perfect if it wasn't for the hinge. This keyboard is impossible to use on your lap, it just doesn't work. The floppy hinge paired with the length make it too long to rest comfortably, and it just falls backwards. If you only ever use it on a desk then I would give it 4 stars, simply because it works great other than the issue of fitting on a lap and being floppy. The other complaint I have is that when you close the case it does not stay in place on the Slate to provide adequate protection. Connectivity: 5/5 Keys: 5/5 Ergonomics: 0/5 Protection: 2/5

Great addition to the Slate
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The keyboard was a good addition when purchasing the Slate. The keyboard automatically connects and makes it much easier to type. The keys are a little mushy compared to other keyboards, but work well. I like that the back of the case attaches to the tablet with a magnet so you can change the angle of the tablet to what is comfortable for you.

Nice Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Circular keys look nice but are a little weird to get used to. Only problem I had was that there is no where to store the pen and it doesn't sit well on your lap. That kinda just comes with this type of folio case, though.

Awesome accessory
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an awesome keyboard for the slate. It has quiet typing keys and the trackpad is very responsive. There are some good options out there, but this keyboard is awesome!

don't buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the second time my keyboard died. First was replaced after 11 months and now after 7 more the replacement has died. They won't replace after 1 year and I'm not wasting money on something that won't last. Bye Google products!
