Super Phone Great Upgrade over the Pixel 3

This is a great phone love the face unlock, superb speed, fantastic and fast 90hz screen, and more. Probably could have had 8gb RAM like most flagship phones have had recently but 6 is better than 4 the Pixel 3 had.
Other improvements over the Pixel 3 - the new Google helper is much better and faster. Also it seems like the what's playing now works better as well.
Of course it wouldn't be a Pixel without an industry leading camera and this one doesn't fail. Some may say it's pricey but it is worth it.
The Oh So Orange color is a bonus wish they offered more colors.

It is my first pixel and I am impressed with this phone. I had an iPhone 11 which was stolen and I bought the pixel to take advantage of the discount and honestly I will not go back, google pixel has a new fan. the best camera, best Android experience, better and faster face ID, spectacular sound, the battery is not the best but enough two days of charge, I am not a demanding user. Perhaps to a more demanding user, the battery will discharge faster. I recommend the pixel 4 xl, for me it is my new best phone for us600 there is no other better

I switched to other Android phones for a few months, and every other Android phone that I've used lacks essential features. The face-unlock is remarkably convenient. The UI is buttery smooth, even more than a year after launch. The extra features such as the smart home functionality with a longpress of the power button are excellent. Also, no smartphone camera quality or feature set comes anywhere close. It's very hard to go to another smartphone camera after using the Pixel camera.

Great phone. My fifth Google nexus/pixel

I've owned Google nexus in the past and pixels recently. In addition I had Samsung galaxies and Oneplus 5. While I hated my galaxy phones, too much bloatware and slow updates. I loved my Oneplus, but it's not a secure phone and I have received emails twice in two years stating my information has been hacked/shared and etc. The pixel 4XL is an excellent phone. Fast updates, fast processor, great screen, great camera, and most importantly awesome stock Android software that's helpful in something as simple as requesting callers to identify before answering. Overall I'm very happy with this product. I have forced my screen to remain at 90hz and battery suffers little because of that. However, I'm a person with a job and I work around 10-11 hours a day. I commute to work 45 mins, and charge my phone while using android auto. At work I listed to music at least four horia via Bluetooth earbuds and sometimes get on my phone looking at news and Instagram. My battery lasts whole day. And I never plug my battery at home unless it Sunday and I haven't driven and used android auto for two days. Basically what I'm trying to say is that battery is fine. People who complain about it must be using their phone for gaming or nonstop for 6 hours straight. If you're a heavy used then carry a charger with you. If you're like me then buy this phone and enjoy its awesome features and performance and don't worry about battery. I definitely recommend this phone. Although, these days I'd only buy the iPhone, Pixel, and maybe if I'm willing to save money Oneplus. Everything else isn't up to my standards. I wish pixel 4XL was cheaper, but I did purchase mine during Thanksgiving when it was $200 off. Good luck.

Pros: The phone is great and if you're an Android fan this is the best way to go. Camera is amazing and the phone runs very smoothly.
Cons: It's overpriced at regular MSRP ($900) but I purchased when it was discounted by $200, which made the cost more reasonable. I would have preferred if they kept the fingerprint reader but the face unlock is a cool feature and works extremely well.
Overall: If you have a Pixel 3XL I would recommend holding off on upgrading, but if you're due for a new phone this is a great option.

The true Android experience

Google's pixel line is the truest Android experience you can get. No overlays like the Samsung and HTC ones forced on you. No relying on a carrier for updates (and they're actually monthly!). Smooth UI thanks to the 90hz screen.
While I do miss a fingerprint scanner, the face unlock using Google's new radar system is quite responsive and accurate.
Battery can drain somewhat quickly vs other flagship phones, but lowering brightness and regular use should allow you to get through the day without being tethered to a charger.

This is a great phone. Good pictures, runs super smooth even after almost 2 years of using it ( Purchased 01/27/20. Dunno why the site has the buy date incorrectly stated.). The software experience is honestly great.
Biggest disappointment with this phone was the fact it lacked a wide angle lens. Second biggest disappointment was the super super average video camera.

A lot of people have complaints about this phone, such as poor battery life or a thick "forehead". Honestly, I've been using this phone for about 3 weeks or so, and I don't have these complaints.
The battery is average, maybe even above average for my use. I'm usually connected to WiFi or close to a charger, so my battery can usually be topped off. That allows for my battery to last more than a day.
Since the software is stock Google, paired with the fast processor, it's very quick to respond. There is no bloatware or custom apps from the Mobile providers, which makes everything feel clean.
The last complaint that most people have is the camera. It doesn't have a wide view camera. The camera is great, takes very nice photos. I'm not that much into taking pictures, but the pictures I have taken seem better than most. I'm not even sure why you would need the wide view camera anyway. Again, I'm not into taking that man pictures, but I thought I should point that out since it might be a deal breaker for some people.
My only complaint is the speakers. The older Pixel phones had stereo speakers, this one does not. Instead it uses the dual sound system with the bottom speaker and the earpiece to create the stereo sound effect. It works, but it seems off. I've compared it to my iPhone 10 which uses a similar system, and the balance is better on the iPhone. It sounds OK, don't get me wrong. It's just the sound seems uneven or out of balance just a little. I'm using headphones or an external speaker with it, so it doesn't matter too much. Again, I thought I'd throw that out there in case someone who would like to buy this phone is wondering.
That said, this phone has become my daily driver. It's very flexible in how "I" use it. If you're considering this phone, please do a little research as it's not for everybody. There are a lot of good phones out there. The Pixel 4 can do almost everything...almost.

I've been a Google Nexus/Pixel fan for a long time, and was wary about the Pixel 4 due to mediocre reviews, especially at the price. On sale for $599 and having seen the specs and reviews of the Galaxy S20 and OnePlus 8, I decided to upgrade from my Pixel 2 XL and incredibly pleased. The camera continues to be top notch, the 90 hz screen and extra RAM makes the OS fast and fluid, and face unlock has worked really well.
Highly recommended for those that want a smooth Android experience.

I'm typing the review up on this very phone. I love the refresh rate, the resolution, and functionality. The camera is also truly one of if not the best on the market. I use this phone everyday and haven't any issue with it. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because the battery life could definitely be better but if you have a battery or a charger on hand it isn't a big issue.

Excellent cameras. Face unlock is a gimmick as it only works for a select few apps but it does unlock faster than the iPhone. Battery life is average as it coulve been larger. Google claims fast charging buts it's not as it takes close to 2 hours just to charge the phone in full. Definitely not worth the price. Maybe next year they'll get it right.

Amazing phone with minor annoyances

I got this phone on Black Friday and I've been loving every second with it! Big screen with 90Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through the phone and some games feel amazing, big battery means that I can easily get through a whole day with around 30% (this is with almost max brightness and Bluetooth constantly on), and an amazing camera. However there are some minor things that I wish could've been improved on the phone. First off is the screen. While it is amazing to use indoors once you get into direct sunlight then it gets very hard to see even on max brightness. Second is the Motion Sense which is the radar that is on the phone. While it is nice to have the display already on and the phone scanning your face by the time you look at it, for the other features such as swiping across the top to skip songs is very hit or miss. It works fine if it's on a table in an open area but there are times when I'm trying to reach over to the phone to skip and it won't work so until Google improves it I'm turning that feature off. Lastly, Face Unlock is also another great feature but I've noticed that it does not work when I'm laying in bed and I need to unlock my phone. I'll cut it some slack because I will try to unlock it when I'm laying on my side but even when I lay straight on the bed it still doesn't scan my face until I lift my head off the pillow. Maybe it's because I still need to get used to it but that's what I've noticed when using the phone. Still a very good phone nevertheless!

Best Pixel Ever

I knew I made the right choice when at the Best Buy store and I
said I was interested in buying the Pixel 4 XL both sales people behind the counter said, "Excellent choice, it's the one we both bought."
I figured since they handle and sell dozens of different phones from different manufacturers and selected THIS one for themselves, it was a great starting point.
You can read from reviews here about the dozens of cool features this phone has, and they're all true. If the 'notch' at the top of the Pixel 3 XL screen bothered you, that's gone in the 4. I like small things, like the Pixel, being from Google, is getting Android updates and improvements constantly. It's like each day your phone is getting smarter and learning new things, and that's free.
The camera is totally amazing. I'm into photography and have always loved my Nikon with its assortment of lenses, but the Pixel camera is SO much easier to use and seems to anticipate what I'm looking to do without constantly changing lenses and fiddling with controls to give me great pictures. The negative, as in any smartphone camera, is when taking a picture in bright sun, your screen is totally washed out and you're guessing about how your picture will look.
Buying an unlocked phone means you're free from your carrier's bloatware cluttering up the phone. Usually their apps are put there to sell you stuff. Unless you especially like one of those apps, I have never found a downside in purchasing an unlocked phone.
The battery life is excellent for the amount of time I use my phone. I have yet to go through a 16 hour day and not had at least 35 per cent battery left.
Bottom line, if you're thinking of purchasing this phone, it's well worth a look.

I have been a long time android user but this is my first Pixel camera. I love the phone and the clean version of android, I have been an avid Samsung user until now and have had to deal with the large amount of bloatware they include.
The camera is fantastic regardless of the light setting and the portrait mode is top notch.
I don't love the face unlock since it is not 100% and can struggle in dark rooms. The concept is great and when it works I feel likes it is darn near magical but as someone who never had an issue using fingerprint unlock this is a bit of a let down. Especially since some apps and companies support fingerprint sensors but not face unlocks. In time I hope it gets better and more widely accepted.
Also since there are not buttons or even virtual buttons I sometime run into issues with their swipe motions. To get back to the home screen, you swipe up from the center-bottom of the screen. To look at active apps you do the same but hold in the center. And of course to scroll through a page or play some games you swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
On more than one occasion I have accidentally closed apps, gone to the home screen or had to make multiple attempts to view open apps. It only happens on occasion but is still a frustrating user experience.
I would still easily recommend this phone to android users but be aware there is a learning curve to some of their features and UI.

The Google Pixel 4 XL is a great phone. Build quality is top notch. The 90Hz OLED screen is beautiful and the rear cameras are fantastic. Innovative features like call screening and real-time transcribing make this phone standout. However, there are two issues with the phone. First, battery life is not great. Definitely should have a larger battery. Second, is the lack of a wide angle camera.

I am not a tech junkie that needs to update his/her phone every 8 months or less. I have owned previous phones made by Google, and they held up pretty well. So I gave this phone a shot. I am pleased with Google's software for this phone. It's not too flashy, and it's intuitive. Most reviewers complain about the lack of wide angle lens like the iphone, but I like the telephoto lens. I've been an ametuar photographer for over five years, and I can tell you I've taken most of my favorite shots with my telephoto lens. Most reviewer complain that you don't have a fingerprint scanner, but I don't notice it's missing. The face reader works well even in the dark, and it functions as a biometric reader for most apps too so that's good. Overall, I enjoy this phone. It does what is advertised! Don't get caught in the hype of why people may dislike this phone. They are probably just tech junkies that will cycle a phone every <8 months. If you picked this phone up without bias I'm sure you'd be happy with it.

The camera is the best, no competition. Every picture you take will blow you away no matter which phone you had before (I upgraded from an iPhone XS Max). Just take a single night picture and see what I'm referring to. The screen is great, everything is super smooth with the phone. My one complaint is the battery just gets you through a day, other phones offer much better battery life.

Absolutely love this phone. The camera is amazing, the software is buttery smooth & the styling is modern. Not sure why people are upset with the battery life, I easily get through a day with 25% left before putting it on the charger. Typical usage is social media, youtube, and non graphic intense gaming. Using phone on AT&T network & calls, signal, services work perfectly. A steal if you catch it on sale!!!

I have doubted myself since I've purchased two of the new pixels and out my out 2,000 dollars. Every review put out was just destroying this phone! I agree if you have a pixel 3 I recommend you stay there until the phone goes on a huge sale in a couple of weeks. But I upgraded from the glorious pixel 2 XL which I dropped one too many times and I was due for an upgrade. I'm not a typical consumer as I'm a Google sheep but I am an average user. This battery life thing that everyone complains about is strange as everyday this phone dose great. Yes it sucks that by the time I end my day it's usually around 10-15 percent but it's gets through the day which is what people need. The camera is great, just about as perfect one could get but I do have to agree Google missed the mark with no wide angle. I'm giving this a five star review because (I'm Google's sheep) the phone is a mid range flagship at best and I know the price cuts will be huge on this phone making it worth the 5 or even 6 hundred bucks. Once there everyone will love the phone and tell Google to launch the next phone at this price but they won't listen, they have people like me that'll drop 2 G's on their phones. Though I will most likely not get the P5 because Google doesn't know how to actually UPGRADE which is why I skipped the pixel 3 because my 2 was still excellent so I'll hang on this P4 until I drop and break it again or once Google just drops the perfect phone which they could do every year but the willingly choose not to smh....
