Solid midrange Android phone
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I came back to Android with the purchase of the Pixel 4A. My iPhone 8 plus was having battery issues, so I decided to come back to Google after reading good pre-release reviews. Overall, I'm quite pleased after about a week with the 4a. The software experience is great, though I still need to prune the sheer amount of notifications that come out of my applications. The camera is pretty good, though the response time for processing is a little longer than I would like. This is by no means a deal breaker. Setup was a breeze, and being as invested in the Google ecosystem as I am, it's nice to have a smoother experience. I often experienced odd sync issues between my Google accounts and iPhone, but that's gone now. Battery life is good, but not great. I'm getting through a full day on a single charge, and that generally means consistent use all day from 6:00am to around 11:00pm. This includes consistent email and texting, some gaming, YouTube videos, and use of other various applications. If you're looking for a solid Android phone at a good price, I think this is a good bet for you.

Wonderful Phone for the Price
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Pixel phone ever and I absolutely love it! The phone was super easy to set-up, customize, and runs smoothly. The chip is older, and there have been a few times where I notice the phone lag, but it's not at all a dealbreaker; it still runs everything quickly and handles multi-tasking well. I don't use the phone a lot throughout the day, so the battery life is excellent on my end. With minimal use- the occasional texting, social media scrolling, etc- the battery has lasted about 2.5 days on a single charge. And when you do have to charge it, it does so fast. The camera is superb and is the main reason I bought this phone. It may only be single lens, but it comes with great features such as stabilization and astrophotography. The front-facing camera is perfect; great quality and vivid colors. Overall, this phone has been a wonderful introduction to the Pixel family for me. It's a perfect size with a light yet sturdy build. I love that the headphone jack is still included, and I can see myself buying more Pixel phones in the future!

So much bang for your buck!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone is absolutely amazing for the price. I was coming from a Samsung S7, and this obviously blows it away. The camera takes amazing pictures and you can even take pictures of the stars with the night mode. The battery is really good too and last me over a day no problem. It also feels super snappy with apps and certainly doesn't feel like a "budget" phone at all.

Took a risk, pleasantly surprised!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was worried about possibly moving down from a flagship phone (Note 9), but after many weeks I can tell you I have no regrets. Pure Android with no bloat is pure bliss, and everything just works! Even though it's supposed to be a cheaper version, this thing excels at everything: camera, speed, screen, battery are excellent, actually better than the Note! No complaints

Unbeatable for the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a great phone that doesn't break the bank ... This is it. All the features most people need without some of the flashy unnecessary extras. Really the only downfall over a flagship phone for me is the processor is going to slow down faster than a higher end model. Takes good pictures and video. Really nice oled screen and lightweight body.

Awesome phone, awesome price!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome phone, awesome price. Photos are wonderful and the battery life is great. I honestly haven't noticed the phone being slow from the midrange processor once... not ONCE. Honestly I wish all phone were like this, small, cheap, plastic. A good camera and stock Android is all you need. The phone truly great. Definitely you should buy it.

A solid mid-range device with Google smarts
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google is really on to something with it's "a" line of Pixel devices. I used to always want the highest spec device available but Google has really changed my mind about this. Google has packed a ton of features into a very affordable package. Nothing on the hardware side of things is going to blow you away, but the hardware is certainly more than adequate at this price point; and, bonus - you get a headphone jack! Where this device really shines is software. Even with a mid-range processor, the Pixel 4a is super smooth. I've had a few minor lags in daily use, but nothing so significant that it disrupts the user experience. I love all the little things that Google thinks about with its software - it's clean but provides just the right amount of useful additions. In addition, quarterly Pixel feature drops give you something to look forward to every few months. Battery life is adequate, but not stellar. Because of this, I wish the device had wireless charging just to make charging more convenient but, again, at this price point it's not something I think is absolutely needed. The other great thing about this device is it's compact size - I honestly forgot what it felt like to hold a truly one-handed phone. 128 GB of storage is also great at this price point. And, as with all pixel devices, the camera is outstanding.

Pleased customer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great phone with a good battery life. It was definitely a late package which was annoying but when it came it did not disappoint. This little do-dad has been reliable, stylish, and over all gets the job done for half of the price. The picture quality is great and the customization is pleasant. I think that Google has won me over.

Great Phone
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this phone for a week and it is a great. Nice size and weight. I have owned Motorola phones in the past and also considered the G Power, but it was a bit large and heavy for my liking. I use Verizon Prepaid, and activation was as simple as swapping the nano SIM card. Transfer of data and apps was easy with the supplied cable. Android 11 was installed a few days after activation and works fast and smooth. Android Auto seems to work great so far - this was always an issue with my Motorola. I haven't used the camera much yet, but this is supposed to be the best feature of this phone. My only criticism is that it was a bit slippery without a case. I bought the Spigen Rugged Armor case and it is perfect for me. Didn't add much weight or bulk and makes the phone easier to grip. Unless you want a larger screen, I don't think you will be disappointed with this phone.

||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Pixel 4a is a budget-friendly smartphone with a top-notch camera and clean Android experience. It offers decent battery life and a vibrant OLED screen, but lacks wireless charging and water resistance. It's a great value for the price, especially for photography enthusiasts.

Pixel 4a
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from a super cheap budget phone and the difference in performance is noticeable. Camera is good, battery lasts all day with moderate use. Wifi and Bluetooth connection work fine. Fast and smooth performance. $350 is the most I have ever paid for a phone, I understand that it is nowhere near the $1000 premium phone price, but to me its a lot of money. For that much money, the overall build quality doesn't feel much better than the $79 phone I upgraded from. I would like it more if it felt like a better piece of equipment. The size is perfect though, and one of the reasons i ultimately chose this device over others i was considering. Most phones are too big in my opinion. I don't watch movies or play games on my phone, so a massive screen isn't a feature i really want. (This phone does have a high quality display though). Comfortable one-handed use is a much more attractive quality. I bought the unlocked version, so there was no bloatware to speak of. Lots of customization options. Overall I'm satisfied with the product for the price.

Pixel 4a is a Solid Choice for the Money
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the size of this phone it fits neatly in hand and using an Encased case and holster it fits closer to my body than my previous Moto phones did--not near the snag factor. I like the 128gb storage but there is no provision for expansion card which surprised me. I miss some features from my Moto phones such as gestures to turn on flashlight and camera and the Moto Time and Weather Widget and Moto LockScreen Circle. The Pixel 4a has a flashlight icon on the pull down that is accessible when the phone is locked easy enough to turn on and off. A double tap on the power button gets camera. I like the Google Assistant features on this phone. A long hold on the power button reveals controls for my connected lights and other devices, Emergency, Power, and Lockdown buttons and a Google Pay feature. I got an immediate upgrade to Android 11 while setting up the phone which has a nice media controls function. The real bonuses with the Pixel 4a are the camera features and the 3 years of guaranteed update support. Google phones get updates first. All in all Pixel 4a is a decent phone for the money.

Awesome Phone for a Great Value
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone has been a great upgrade from my previous ones, that Samsung Galaxy S7. A ton of space, great features, and incredibly fast. An awesome camera and back of phone fingertip sensor are great touches. Despite being a cheaper smartphone on the market, this one has everything I need with no excess.

A great budget/mid range phone.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone is great. I didn't want it, but I dropped my 3a XL and this was the result. Battery life is good, camera is the same, storage is increased, and I actually enjoy the smaller size. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't need a flagship level phone or want to pay the premium for a flagship.

Review of Google Pixel 4a 4G
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the 4G version. I bought it unlocked and did the setup myself. Very easy and it was the first time I did this. I wanted an Android phone of this size (replaced a Samsung Galaxy S5 which was the essentially the same size). Very nice screen and resolution. Camera is very nice and has useful modes. Phone is 'fast', no lag in scrolling. One thing I didn't know: *all* Google Pixel phones cannot mirror (i.e. display what's on the phone's screen on your TV the screen via a cable. You must "cast" the screen image (YouTube, Netflix show...) via WiFi using something like a Chromecast device. I'm not sure if this is a consideration or even a deal-breaker for anyone. A Google Chromecast device actually adds more features than just the mirroring capability. It can turn an old 'dumb' TV into a smart TV. It also contains apps for Netflix, HBO... A Chromecast only costs $30; but it is still an extra expense if you need to mirror.

So good I bought one for my father-in-law.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It wasn't too long ago that a budget phone meant 16 gb of storage and cruddy charging ports. Now a budget phone has 128gb of storage and a excellent charging port. The camera is excellent, and the battery life tends to last me a full day. There isn't much to say about this phone and that's not a bad thing, it's pretty bare bones Android with the only bloat-ware being google stuff, which typically you come to use anyways. I have come to like it so much that I bought my father-in-law one, and I will buy another one for another family member who wants a phone but doesn't want to carry around something that is worth an old car in terms of value. It does have a few downsides, by default it comes with gestures to navigate, the gestures can be confusing a bit hard to navigate but it can be turned off, and the screen is a bit on the small side. However these cons aren't bad for the price.

Finally, the return of the Nexus.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of failed attempts, price hikes coupled with low spec increases, Google unleashes the smartest, well packaged phone in over 5 years. With 6GB of RAM, UFS 2.1 128GB storage, beautiful OLED screen, headphone jack and the best battery life on any Pixel or Nexus phone, you have a winner. As a tech enthusiast who just wants a phone that works with a sub $500 price, this is the sweet spot. You can recommend this phone to anyone and they will be happy with it. Not to mention; 3 years of OS updates, 4 years of monthly security patches and bootloader unlockable (Community supported for much longer). Oh, and iFixit gave it a 6/10 for repairability, so when the battery goes, it can be swapped out with a little finesse. Bravo Google. Oh yeah, and that camera, wow.
