The Watch to Replace Fitbit Watches

Certainly better than Fitbit watches, this new addition to the Google watch family has some ups and downs. Good news is that setup is not too bad, but only a month in I had to reset back to factoty settings and set up again because of a bluetooth connectivity issue. The fit tracking is terrible at first till it learns more from one run to the next. It picks up every app on phone, so you must turn off each individual app notifications especially if you do not want some apps popping up on your watch face. The blue color is very nice, but was hard to find, luckily Best Buy still had it. The phone answering works well which was an issue in all Fitbit watches, so glad they could fix that. Overall, not a bad smartwatch, but needs more face varieties like Fitbit had.

No problems so far! Great to be able to do music, texting, calls from my watch without having to constantly pull out my phone. Functions are fun to operate and learn, and helps display important info on the face with hardly any issue.

Got this watch on sale for $150 to replace my aging fossil gen 5. After getting a pixel 9 back in November, I wanted to get something within the pixel ecosystem and this watch is perfect for my needs. I'm a thin guy so the size of it is great and not too big on my wrist. I love the sleep tracking , sp02 tracking, very accurate step tracking and all the other features that come with it in this small form watch. Definitely a good buy if you don't need the "newest" smartwatch on the market but still want something that is still a great piece of tech and works great for every day use. I get well over 24HR of battery life also and it charges quickly!

The watch gets the job done while being quite sleek too. Seamless connection to my pixel 8 pro. The battery is simply alright but I believe later revisions fix this.

Bought as part of the bundle deal with the Pixel 8 Pro pre-order. I originally had an apple watch 7, which i loved, but it wouldn't integrate with the Pixel.
Pros:
Pixel watch 2 has a FANTASTIC battery life. The charging is also much faster than my apple watch.
The bundle deal gave me a free trial of FitBit premium, which is pretty neat. It does monitor my sleep and gives a fairly accurate indicator of times when i get stressed based on vitals changes. The stress indicator is not something i saw as an option with my apple watch, so i thought that was pretty cool.
The vibration seems to be stronger than my apple watch ever was
Cons:
The default band that comes with the watch is uncomfortable in my opinion. After a night's sleep, I usually have to take it off because it feels like its digging into my wrist even with the band somewhat loose. Due to the material, it tends to get stuck in my hair if i were to do something like brush or style with the watch on. I am planning to get a different band to rectify this so hopefully this is just a band issue
The watch itself feels a bit thicker than my apple watch. I am uncertain if the watch is thicker or if it is just the round shape, but after sleeping and long-term wear, the watch feels like it is digging into the top of my wrist even with the band somewhat loose
Probably just because i am used to the iOS interface, but i dont like the way the apps are laid out. The scrolling feels annoying to me. I liked how apple had the icons laid out on the "home" screen when you unlocked the watch much better than the endless scrolling
It does not have as many monitoring features as the Apple watch
Apple had a built-in function that had a sort of walkie talkie bit that could be used from watch to watch. It would notify the other person you were requesting a walkie-talkie conversation and then you could tap the button and talk to each other over the watch instead of having to use your phone. This is absolutely not necessary 95% of the time, but it was a nice feature to have, especially when you are in a position where you cant have your phone out but need to reach someone

A Tragically Petite Piece of Tech

Darlings, the Google Pixel Watch 2 is, dare I say, a marvel of modern wrist couture—an objet d’art in the realm of smart accessorizing. However, much like certain misguided interior decorators who insist on undersized chandeliers, this watch face is tragically petite. One must squint with the conviction of a woman reading a will she was scandalously excluded from.
But fear not, for the grand and superior Pixel Watch 3 offers a more expansive visage—one worthy of capturing one’s digital whims without feeling like one is deciphering Morse code. That being said, the Pixel watches remain formidable contenders in the smartwatch arena, effortlessly rubbing elbows with their Apple and Samsung contemporaries. And oh, the bands! The silicone, ever so pliant and easily exchanged, allows one to pivot from laissez-faire daytime jaunts to the aristocratic airs of a soirée with a single swap.
At the end of the day, my loves, the true essence of these watches is simple: To revel. To delight. To partake in life's playful indulgences. So, do so with a watch face that neither insults your eyesight nor your sense of grandeur.

I got the Google Pixel Watch 2 in Matte Black with the Obsidian Active Band, and it perfectly complements my new Pixel phone. The sleek and modern design looks fantastic, and the build quality is impressive, giving it a premium feel.
The smartwatch performs flawlessly, offering a smooth and responsive experience. The vibrant display is clear and easy to read, even in bright sunlight. However, I do wish the display were a bit larger. The variety of health and fitness tracking features, including heart rate monitoring and GPS, are both accurate and highly useful for my active lifestyle.
Battery life is solid, comfortably lasting through a full day of use, though it could be better. The quick charging feature is very handy. The integration with my Pixel phone is seamless, making notifications, calls, and apps easily accessible right from my wrist.
Overall, the Google Pixel Watch 2 is a stylish, functional, and reliable smartwatch. It's a fantastic addition to my tech collection, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier smartwatch experience.

So far I love it. complaints about short battery life in other reviews I've read kinda baffled me. I get about 2 days out of it with the tap to wake and raise to wake turned off. Fitbit does well to track my sleep. You have to give it about a week to learn your tendencies. HR tracking is accurate especially during workouts. It alerts me to stress events or something but it's usually a couple hours after the fact and by then I'd forgotten why. I like that the bands are changeable and there's a great third party market for those. Also a market for cases for it too.

My First Wearable, So Far So Good!

This is my first smart watch, and I've enjoyed almost everything about it. I got this with my Pixel 8 Pro and have had one headache so far. The teo were paired, but somehow lost their connection and the only fix was to reset the watch and start from scratch? That part was super frustrating as it happened while I was super busy and didn't have the time to sit down and go through all the prompts.. took a couple tries to get things paired and going again. Other than that it has been a great accessory that I use every day. The best use I've gotten is to turn off "always on display" which REALLY boosts battery life. The screen lights up any time I tilt my arm or tap on it, and I honestly don't need it constantly running. Plus, I noticed that the constant screen-on was causing pixel burn and ghosting when scrolling menus.. I could see my clock face lingering and was quick to address that. OLED panels DO in fact burn-in, so consider that if you're going to leave the screen on. Lastly, I was barely getting a day out of it, leaving no way to sleep track etc. But now that the screen isn't constantly lit up, I can run it all day, sleep track at night and all it needs is a little charge when I get up to shower in the morning then it's good to do it all over again. It would be cool to have the always on display, but not at the cost of the screen quality nor battery life.

The watch elegantly combines form and function, fitting perfectly on my wrist and complementing my style with its customizable faces.

So far so good. Watch works perfectly. Exactly what I was looking for. I can have personal pictures as my clock face. It tracks my heart rate, sleep, exercise all fairly accurately. Notifications come in clearly. I can type a response or speak into the watch to respond. All really awesome features! Battery life isn't long but still longer than 24 hrs which is nice. One thing I didn't realize is how heavy the watch was in comparison to the fitbit versa 4.

This watch is great. It fits my all wrist perfectly. It is really comfortable as well. I love the functionality of it and everything that it tracks. The battery life is wonderful and it doesn't even take an hour to charge it completely when it is low on battery(4%). I also like that you can change the orientation of the face depending on your wrist and where you want the bezel located. I highly recommend this watch, especially if you have a Google pixel phone.

Good Watch, Terrible Charger

I've had this watch since October 2023. As someone who walks/hikes and goes to the gym a fair amount, but always has a charger nearby (usually at the end of the day), this is a pretty good smartwatch. The activity tracking is solid, and the GPS is fairly accurate. if you have a Google Pixel phone, the integration is very good.
Durability-wise, I've hit many things with this watch on accident (e.g., hit a wall) and the watch only has a few scratches here and there. It's still very usable though.
That said, I'm taking two stars off because of the battery. The battery life is probably on par with an Apple Watch, so that's to be expected. That said, the inconsistent battery life and charging is not.
- I find that the battery life can be inconsistent; for example, sometimes I'll fully charge the watch before bed and, once I wake up, notice that the battery drained significantly overnight (think 70% overnight). Sometimes, this is because the watch had a software update and it was stuck trying to download something. Other times, it could be because the watch was trying to download an offline map, but offline maps takes forever to download on the watch to start with, so it ends up draining a ton of battery in the process. And, sometimes, I just don't know why it wants to drain more than usual.
- Something that's even more annoying is the charging mechanism. The charger is a magnetic charger, so you place the side of the watch with the heart rate sensor onto the charger. That said, more often than not, the charger either refuses to charge, or charges very slowly. I end up spending more time than I should be trying different ports and charging bricks before the watch would charge. What's even more annoying is, sometimes, after I *do* get the watch to charge, the watch will sometimes just stop charging (imagine putting your watch on the charger for a few hours before bed, and then when you go to take the watch off the charger so you can sleep, it's only at 55%...). Despite my attempts to clean the watch and the charger, it still doesn't charge reliably. This is probably an issue with the charging cable, but honestly I feel like this is one of those things that shouldn't be an issue. The charger should just work. I shouldn't have to buy an extra *charging cable* just to charge this watch.
Overall, solid watch when it wants to work, and a pain to charge as of the past 12 months. For that reason, I'm not going to recommend this watch. Further, what I've learned is that I will probably not buy watches with magnetic chargers.

I've had a lot of experience with smart watches from the Samsung Galaxy and Apple watch series 6 and a couple others. But as far as this watch goes it's pretty good. I hesitate to say great because there's not a huge difference between this second iteration and the first of other than battery capacity. It can get you through the day. Obviously the screen is what's using a lot of the power, not necessarily the sensors. I of course have always on display off but I will say it stays connected to Wi-Fi when it needs to and it stays connected to the watch with no problem. It can play Bluetooth audio to earbuds with absolutely no problem. I think where it falls short is namely such a small screen. It hasn't really affected my ability to use it and I use a black watch face to trick myself into thinking it's bigger than it actually is because the display area is actually smaller. There are noticeable bezels around the display. Another huge fail in my opinion is the integration with Fitbit. I wish Google had stayed with Google fit and I understand the sensors are supposed to be better but the information is behind a paywall. Apple doesn't even have that as lockdown as Apple is. Also, your health information doesn't populate from your health care sources like your doctor or hospital. Contrast that with the Apple watch where you could get your doctors notes and test results and all of this other information integrated in the Apple health app. Fitbit just sort of runs short mainly because nobody wants to pay that kind of money a month for a subscription. Also the information is not exactly precise, just barely better than accurate. I will point out the fact that you don't get a blood oxygen reading unless you are in an activity being recorded or you've got multiple days straight of sleep information. And if you're looking for something to track sleep, this just does not it. I really have yet to find any tracking device that tracks sleep properly. You've got to be asleep for a minimum of 3 hours before it will even begin to record. So you've always got at least 3 hours less on data. Then you actually slept. And essence, if you slip 6 hours, it's only going to record 3 hours. That doesn't seem very accurate to me. And even if you sleep well and use your CPAP and don't move all night long, you'll have 2 hours of sleep data. So that's a huge fail for me. I don't really like Fitbit. It just happened to come with the watch. So I'm not going to suggest somebody buy this for the tracking features. I believe distance and steps are probably accurate as is the heart rate but blood oxygen levels. The ECG, which seems generic, and sleep are all negatives. Other than that, it does an excellent job with notifications with phone calls. It's excellent with the microphone and the speaker. Mine is the GPS model because I don't see the need for an LTE model with a separate plan with a carrier, unless you have Google Fi and you can have a watch line for free. You're always got your phone with you anyways. So why spend extra? But that's just my opinion. The screen is bright enough in the outdoors. There is a shortage of nice bands for this watch, but that could just be opinion. I would say overall if I had to give this x stars out of 10 I would probably give it a solid, five or six. Mainly because it's supposed to do all of these things but it does half of them well and half of them not so good. If you pick this up with a promotion I can recommend it, but I can't really recommend it as a straight out solo purchase. Obviously it's at the forefront of updates like the pixel phones, but I've had it for 2 months and I have yet to see an update. But if you're in the Google ecosystem, this is probably a decent purchase and let's just hope that the pixel watch3 really picks up where this leaves off and includes what this watch should have had. One thing that comes to mind at the end of this review is the charging puck. I really personally don't like it. It's proprietary and unnecessary. And by unnecessary I mean the design. Obviously you've got to have it. But just like everything else Google it's hard to find accessories. Be it a watch band or face protector or anything reasonably priced. But in the end if you can get it on sale if you can get it on a promotion. If you can get it in a bundle I would take it. Otherwise I'd keep looking. But keep in mind that Apple watches and Samsung watches are not going to work well with your Android phone unless it's a Samsung or you have an iPhone.

I'm not much of a watch person but I received this as a pre-order gift with the pixel pro 8 and I actually really like it. It's really neat that you can change the face of the watch to anything you want or even make your own and you can customize the look with different straps. It also has been really interesting to see it track my sleep patterns and my heart rate and things like that with the Fitbit app. It's not so much a watch as it is an extension of your phone. For the most part I don't need my phone. The watch does everything except it doesn't have its own speaker or camera and obviously it's a smaller screen. Where it lacks in those things it makes up for by being a controller for other devices. So you can control your phone's camera using the watch or control Bluetooth speakers for example. Definitely plan to keep using it and recommend it to others.

I've been using a Samsung smartwatch for a few years and decided it was time for a change. Since I am a Google Pixel user, I decided to go with the Pixel Watch 2. The watch was easy to set up nothing minutes I was up and running. The UI is fast and integrates with my Pixel phone. The battery life is better than I expected, with always on display off I am able to get about two days (HR, stress, sleep, gps on). Even when it does need to charge it is very quick. My only cons for the watch is the smaller size and proprietary band connection. The Google branded bands are pricy and the 3rd party options may not fit quite right. Overall I am happy with my purchase.
