Great phone, INCREDIBLE camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this phone for a little more than a week and I love it. The case is very stylish, almost iPhone-ish, it's very simple to use, and the screen is gorgeous. The most outstanding feature, at least for me, is the camera. The design of the case avoids the usual lens bump that you find on most cameras, but the first picture I took truly amazed me. The colors were much more accurate than my slightly older Samsung phone and the camera app is MUCH smoother than what I'm used to with my other phones; most noticeably the lack of shudder lag. As usual, there are tons of features/settings for the camera, but my favorite is the panoramic mode; it's extremely easy to use and the results are absolutely fantastic, so much so I'm including one for the review. The other nice thing about the phone is the clarity of the speaker phone. The first time I used the feature, the person I was talking to was unaware I had him on speaker. Compared to my other phone, he said the difference was very noticeable. The sound from the phone is good, but the odd thing is that although there are holes at the bottom of the case that appear to be speakers, only the left is an actual speaker... I assume the other one is just there for a symmetrical look. The battery life is quite good. I don't watch a ton of videos, but I do stream music quite often, and so far the battery lasts about 2 days before I have to recharge it. Now for the things that I didn't really like. The first, there is no SD expansion slot. Why? I have no idea. The second, I didn't really care for the fact that the USB plug is not the same as my other devices... not a huge deal, but that means that I now have to carry another cable when I travel. The last thing that is that there is no physical 'home' button at the bottom of the case. There's plenty of room for it, so I'm not sure why they didn't include one. If they planned on not having one, I think they should have increased the size of the screen and made the border one the top and bottom smaller. All of these things are not big issues, so overall, I think the phone is incredible, and I would definitely recommend it for someone who is looking for a 'premium' phone.

Good looks and Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's start with this, I've been a longtime user of the major competitor to Google's new phone. That said, the Pixel XL is a beautiful device that seems to be very well made, has a nice feel to it (both in weight and materiality). It's one of those phones you don't want to cover, but you'll be devastated the moment the case or screen is scratched. The phone is nicely packaged, with simple step-by-step instructions. It comes with a fairly large transformer/base (I'd call it a "square" but it's rectangular) that connects with the new USB-C cables. Two cables are included, with a standard USB attachment for transferring data and/or charging via legacy USB. The phone is fast and the screen resolution is quite beautiful. It's bright, but not annoyingly so, even when the intensity is fully cranked up. In more technical terms, it has a pleasant color temperature that's easy on the eyes. That, coupled with a 12.3 MP camera also means that pictures look great. And Google touts the fact you can have less onboard memory because they allow you to setup auto, free storage on Google Drive. I found cellular reception to be as good or comparable to others around me. WiFi reception was excellent- often picking up sources my laptop missed. The Pixel of course runs Android (version 7.1) I'm a techie and I have a love-hate relationship with Android. I love that it's highly customizable and I hate it for the same reason. You often have to dig deep or swipe around blindly trying to find out what you can and cannot change. If you aren't too curious, you can generally go along happily without tweaks. However, I have seen beginners who had literally every app open because they didn't know they could close them! The Google apps such as Gmail, Maps, Play and Play News are really nice. Visually pleasant highly functional. I found Google Assistant to be quicker and mostly more relevant than its major competitor, no doubt due the family ties to Google's search database. Some maintenance features that are nice include summaries of battery, memory and data usage in both text and graphic representation. My one big gripe - I just do not like the "home" button located on the back of the device. I can't get accustomed to it, and it doesn't save any extra space on the front... All-in-all this is a good smartphone that performs well, feels and looks great and will make a purchaser familiar with Android very happy.

Pixel XL
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had to turn in my Note 7 due to the exploding issue :( so I figured I'd tryout the new Google Pixel XL until Samsung get's it back on track! I wasn't overly impressed with the simplicity of the look, the Home button on the back took some getting used to. But Now I figured out you can do multiple fingerprint scans so it does matter if you pick it up with my left hand or my right! Can't do that with the Note 7. I am growing to love my Google and have become move excited NOT Having all the Apps on the Phone I REALLY DIDN"T NEED!

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far it's the best phone for non iPhone users on the market. Pros Not an iphone Easy to operate Compatible with Samsung watches Fingerprint Cons No hard home button therefore there is wasted phone space on the bottom. Sadly Google has followed in iPhone's model of no expandable memory and not being waterproof. Not really all that compatible with my CR-V Bluetooth. Harder to screen shot Cant swipe to call

Great new phone-easy IOS switch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this new Google phone The screen size is a great jump from my iPhone 5s The camera quality is much better and the fingerprint scanner (located on the back) works well and fast The switchover was pretty easy from my old phone And the new Google assistant easily competes with her apple counterpart The screen size is large and very clear. A little too large for my back pocket. I enjoy it but will have to find a better way to carry it The phone is very thin and light so doesn't feel bulky There is no home button so that was an adjustment as was going back to android from iOS after a few years. But it was like riding a bike-I didn't forget There's a cool shake function for the camera that switches from front to back as well as several other motion functions you can setup I also prefer the android keyboards over the apple ones (numbers on all the time) I have been having trouble finding a variety of cases for the phone so far (likely due to the recent release ). I expect more to be available soon Overall a great phone. Nice large screen for games videos or anything. New OS is fast and works very well. Screen setup is easy to navigate and the google assistant unlock function is cool. You can unlock the phone with your saved voice saying 'OK Google' You will be happy with this phone if you are ready for a switch or an android upgrade

Great Phone with minor issues
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the phone and could not wait to get it charged and working. turned it on and got it activated in short amount of time. Few things to point out before someone gets it home and has some problems. Good: Fast interface, great speed, fantastic wifi, bluetooth is strong, size it perfect for medium to large hands, activating was quick and file transfer was flawless. Bad: Slight screen shimmer when pulling menu down, no home button on the phone to wake it up (have to use power button), buttons are little to recessed to make it a simple one handed operation, no external storage option (sd card), no all apps work yet since it is 7.1 android and everyone else is still 6.0+, small height does make it slighty slippery to grab and hold on to. Ugly: not as many options to configure on the phone to make it unique (like alert lights, screen themes and easy to find settings), lack of many sounds that are stock for phone, emails, etc. I can whole hardheartedly recommend this phone to all friends and family. This is a giant step forward for what will become a benchmark for others to achieve down the road. It this is what Google is putting out now, I wonder what they have planned for the future.
