Well, this is a nice looking phone, but as a Nexus 6 Owner, I must say it looks and feels NOTHING like a Nexus; its truly an IPhone clone... Nice screen, very fast, and great camera, and very easy to hold in one hand despite its size..Its alot thinner than my nexus, and frankly feels kind of small compared to a Nexus 6. Call quality is very good, as is the sound, but I wish it had stereo speakers instead of a single one. Comes with Android 7.1, and it scrolls through screens very quickly and is very smooth. Colors are bright and vivid, and easy to see outside in the sunlight. Rear camera is excellent, as is the front facing camera, so you selfie lovers will be happy with this phone. All in all, its a very nice package, and if you like the look of the new IPhone, you will definately love this phone as well!

Great phone just not a Note 7

When purchasing this device I was hesitant. However, it was the best thing on the market seeing as the Note 7 has a small blow up issue. This device is not waterproof and does not have external memory options. However other than that love the phone. Wish it had an edge and a stylus as well but one can hope.

Love how it connects my google accounts

So the obvious positive is it connects all my google accounts super easily. Love that. I have used iphones and apple products my entire life so I am more familiar with Apple iOS then Android. So there is a bit of a learning curve with regards to Android. I have enjoyed being able to customize my screens and icon placements better. The device is lighter than my iphone 6s plus and just slightly smaller in overall size. Screen looks great. Pictures and videos are amazing. one drawback I have so far (and this could just be still learning how to use it correctly) is I am not able to send photos and videos as easily on this device as I was on my iphone. It seems if I I try to send a photo or video in a message it just sends a link and the end user as to view in my photos folder. Not all videos and photos are going through to my recipients via email or messages. So I am still learning the best way to share with others. That is a bit frustrating. Overall I really like the phone. Batter life seems great. Spend the weekend at Disney and had great battery life. Easily connected to wifi signals. Another thing to know, I got the 32GB version but the system software takes up 5.39 GB. So that already limits how many other apps and photos and videos I can have on the phone. I like the fingerprint sensor on the back. It is comfortable and easy to use in that position.

Should have left the operating system it had when it shipped Bluetooth stopped working after a couple updates And last update 8 1.0 lock screen wouldn't work once it was locked I couldn't open it Finally got it unlocked had to remove the lock screen I thought Google wouldn't have bad updates that are supposed to fix things that was a bad assumption

    A Superb Android Phone

Finally! A well designed purely native Android phone with an excellent camera, fully integrated with Google's new Assistant which is a serious competitor to Apple Siri and to Amazon Alexa. I had some difficulty making it work in the beginning but the fact that the Pixel uses the newest Android 7 a.k.a.Nougat I had to go through a bit of learning curve. I must admit though that I'm more used to iOS in phones and I bet those already used to Android will feel mostly at home. If you use Samsung or other manufacturer phones that overlay Android with their own interface, this may take some getting used to. Because I had already heard about the Pixel coming out and was very eager to have one in my hands, I was looking more for flaws than anything else for this review. First thing to be tested was the camera which I quickly realized that it took much better pictures especially in low light showing details that another high end phone couldn't. However, a picture of a white rose illuminated by CFC light showed some fake yellowish shade while the other phone showed a perfect white although the details from the Pixel XL was better. White balance was using default settings. Still, most other pictures blew me away. I don't think there is any other phone out there that can take pictures with this quality and detail although portrait shots was second to the other phone. Front facing camera takes good picture as well. I use Google Assistant (Hey Google) in tablets and although I like it, I was never impressed by it. I have also used Siri but I never really fell in love with her (it) but Google Assistant in this phone is head-to-head with Amazon Alexa which is my favorite. It understands my voice in a natural conversational way and responses are more like chatting. It's not perfect as none of the others are but it is a big step toward making a more interactive assistant. I just wish it had a cooler name. I bet Rosie is taken already but calling it "Google" is lame. Of course, you can change its name but most people including me won't. I'm not saying that this is the fastest phone available but I compared it with other most recent high end phones other members of my family own and we couldn't tell the difference in speed when playing apps or games. Sound is very good if not excellent for a phone. Some people at home liked it better than theirs but I couldn't actually tell the difference. Video playback is clear and smooth. Compared to the other recent phones I mentioned above, the image seems sharper and more eye pleasing than most except for one high Android phone owned by another family member which is just as good. I never noticed any lags except when streaming HD content in some areas of low cell signal. Over Wi-Fi, I watched HD movies with NetFlix and YouTube and noticed no artifacts or unwanted pauses such as to buffer. Battery life is very good but after letting play Netflix movies for a whole day, it died on me almost 2 hours before that Android phone I just mentioned. However, charging it again took only about 30 minutes. Video recording is not disappointing either. At least as good if not better than the other top two phones in the market today. Photography is my hobby as well as some video editing. So this is important to me in a phone for those times my professional equipment is not handy. By the way, it makes phone calls and it sounds great but I must add that coverage in my area is excellent. I thought I should mention that. After all, it is has phone in its name. Everybody in the family was feeling kind of jealous until they found out that it is not waterproof. That's my biggest disappointment so far. I was ready to say that this was the best Android phone ever and the strongest iOS competitor because it impressed not only me but everybody else who tried it. It actually is and if lack of waterproof is not an issue for you, I would highly recommend it with 5 stars. For not having that feature, I've rated it 4 stars.

I have two of these phones. One began malfunctioning soon after the Best Buy 14 day return period was over. Google said it wasn't their problem. Best Buy said it wasn't their problem. Google finally gave in after spending hours and multiple phone calls with customer service. If I had bought it from Google direct it would have been less of a hassle. Just a heads up.

The only thing i can complain about is the internet connectivity. i do have issues with it holding my ip address and then it stops working when there is a conflict and I need to reboot. Also, if not rebooted at least once a week, i get lagging when switching from app to app.

A top-notch phone that is a joy to use

While the Pixel XL is a top-notch phone that is a joy to use, it feels like Google is mostly playing catch-up with their competitors rather than innovating a must-have device. With some features lacking/missing, it seems appropriate for the Pixel phones to have been priced a bit more competitively than they were. The aluminum and glass construction looks and feels nice. While some opinions differ, I like the rear placement of the fingerprint sensor, which suits my usage patterns. The display is very vibrant--quite usable outside mid-day--and extremely responsive to the touch. The display's QHD resolution provides such high pixels per inch count that I suspect the details displayed are beyond what my vision is able to process. The top-notch processor and abundant memory ensured a very smooth experience with all apps and games that I tested. The battery survives heavy usage throughout the day, and the fast battery charging feels snappy, an increasingly important convenience. The camera quality was obviously a huge factor in the design of this phone, and it will likely impress the majority of users. Despite the lack of optical image stabilizer, still images produced both outside and inside were of superb quality. The electronic image stabilization provides an impressive degree of jitter reduction when recording videos. The one point of disappointment, however, was that in-door videos had a huge plummet in detail--more than I was expecting--accompanied by a large presence of grain when compared to video recorded in out-door lighting, where the UHD 4K resolution really allowed details to shine. The single bottom-edge-mounted speaker provides adequate volume and reasonable quality for a phone, but is generally unremarkable. Mid to high range tones sound good without becoming tinny, but as is typical with speakers in mobile devices, low tones fall out with bass generally being inaudible. Fortunately the audio jack comes to the rescue when watching videos and listening to music. The microphone has good volume and clarity in-doors (not tested out-doors), with phone calls being clear on both ends. This phone is sorely missing a microSD card slot, a basic feature which I've come to expect in mobile devices; combined with a non-replaceable battery, it almost feels like Google is hoping users will treat these phones as disposable, quickly discarding them when newer Google phones become available. Also noticeably missing is wireless charging, a feature present in some competing phones. On paper, the Pixel's IP53 water resistance rating falls well short of competing phones. While I appreciate the improvements present in Google Assistant, I would like to have seen them implemented as advancement of Google Now, rather than being reserved exclusively to uplift Google's own phones, which I feel should be able to stand on the merits of their hardware and design; this feels like a rather empty gimmick to me. The back-end search of Google Assistant still shares many of the pit-falls of Google Now, leaving plenty of room for improvement. As an example, when I asked Google Assistant to navigate to the nearest hospital, it directed me to a pet hospital; not what I would hope for in an emergency. While I don't imagine this first generation of the Pixel will be swaying many Apple users over to Android, it sets a nice bar for the Android phone market and provides a top-notch experience for those wanting access to the cutting edge in Android developments straight from Google.

I was happy with ease of setup and accessibility, very happy with memory size and relative ease of function. My only concern is the phone overheats very quickly and easily. It has not shut itself off yet for this reason but it quickly becomes uncomfortable to hold or carry, which seems odd for a phone this expensive.
