top of the line
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, I received this chromebook as part of the the Best Buy Tech insider network for my honest opinion. This is my first device with the chrome operating system. My kids use chromebooks in class and my wife, who is a teacher, is familiar with chromebooks, so I thought I would give this one a try. First of all, the pixel chromebook is a well built machine. It is made of top quality material and the feel of the device is top notch. The intel I5 is fast and smooth. This chromebook is truly a top of the line machine. The screen is a touchscreen with excellent responsiveness and color quality. The Pixelbook also has a front facing camera. I really can't find any negatives about the pixel chromebook except maybe the price. You are getting a premium device, but at a premium price. Bottom line is, there are very few chromebooks that match what you get with this one, but its not cheap. It is much better than anything my family has brought home to use in their schools. I would recommend this to anyone with the budget to spend on it.

Bluetooth doesn't work on this or any other C'book
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is awesome in appearance and style. The display is awesome, the keyboard is almost perfect with nice backlighting. It's a bit heavy but this is to be expected with a metal shell. It has a fatal flaw though, Bluetooth is horrible. Do not expect it to work. Google has informed me that there is no fix planned. Search for Chromebook and Bluetooth, you will see. For a machine with two USB-C ports, Bluetooth is essential for a mouse, keyboard etc. How could a company sell hardware like this for this much money where something as basic as Bluetooth doesn't work?

Best Chromebook you can buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After my girlfriend broke her Macbook Pro I purchased the new Pixelbook for her and she couldn't be happier. Chrome OS is very simple and the quality of this machine is superb. She wanted simple, the best display, longest battery life, a little more under the hood and something sexy. It is a very efficient and simple chromebook with a beautiful display for web browsing, youtube, gmail, netflix etc. Yes you can download Android apps but many are not formatted for the screen size so many are not usable, yet. This is perfect for travel, the casual user, the coffee table or bed side, browsing the web and checking email (With a premium feel). If you understand what a chromebook can and can't do, you will not be disapointed. It screams along...

Not for me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the look of the pixel book, but it didn’t suit my needs at all. I don’t like how specific it is to google apps. I returned it and got a new laptop. I’m getting old I guess haha

RIP pixelbook June 2 2018 - June 29 2019
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Died right out of warranty. Would just start freezing. I did a restart by holding down the power and the keyboard would just flicker periodically, the lights would flash every minute or so. I did a hard reset by holding down refresh key and power for 10 seconds and let it go. The charger works fine and the lights show like it charges but it doesn't turn on. I thought it might be screen so I plugged it into a monitor but nothing. My last chromebook was an HP chromebook 11. That also was a disastrous experience. The charge had a big recall because they were catching on fire. It also lasted less then a year and would never turn on again after not being power cycled in a couple of months, this was a known issue and there's work arounds online showing how to tear it open and fix this. Chromebooks are terribly unreliable, it breaks just in time for pixelbook 2, just like apple used to make their batteries useless after 1 year. Something like system76 machines will last you and it's also secure and light weight.

The best Chromebook on the Market!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m very pleased with my new Google Pixelbook. This is a beautiful, lightweight, quiet, superfast 4 in 1 laptop that is the perfect companion to my Pixel XL phone. It really set’s itself apart from other Chromebooks with it’s amped up specs and super sleek design. The laptop feels great in your hands and is perfectly sized to carry in one hand along with a notebook or pad of paper. I go to a lot of meetings at work and have been taking this with me for taking notes and will most likely use it for various presentations going forward. I love that you can just swipe inward from the upper right corner when it’s locked to go right into note taking mode. The battery life is rated at 10 hours. I think I came pretty close to that but it did fall short just a bit, I would say between 8-10 hours, depending on usage. The battery does charge pretty quickly though and you can get about 2 hours of light usage from a 15 minute charge. There are 2 USB-C ports, one on each side, that can be used for charging. The top of keyboard part of the laptop does get a little warm after some hours of continuous usage but nothing compared to previous laptops I’ve used and there is no annoying fan to listen too, which is really nice. They keyboard is smooth, makes the clicking noise I love and is very easy to use. There are some minor differences from a standard keyboard such as not having a caps lock key and with the included search and Google assistant keys, but they have taken no time to get used to and I really like the set-up. The keys light up depending on your light conditions but I’ve found this to be somewhat unreliable when in a room with various light sources and/or shadows, the keyboard light will come on, then go off often. Luckily this is easy to override and you can manually adjust the keyboard lighting to fit your needs. I really like the rubber pads on either side of the trackpad as they give a comfortable place to rest my wrists when typing. They also serve as foot pads when the computer is in tablet or entertainment mode, so that they keys aren’t constantly pressed. The screen is absolutely beautiful with a very accurate touch screen functionality and a 2400 x 1600 screen resolution. I haven’t been able to find a screen protector made by one of the top brands yet but hopefully one will be coming out soon. Even if I don’t get a screen protector I should be okay given the fact that this screen is made from the same Gorilla glass that many premium smartphones use. I do have a Pixel XL and for some reason have been having problems with the instant tethering. The Pixelbook recognizes my phone and asks if I want to connect but then it says there was a problem and is not able to connect. I’m still able to create a Hotspot with my Pixel XL and connect that way though. I’ve tried researching my problem and it seems that others have experienced the same, hopefully and update or further research will correct whatever issue there may be. The Google Assistant is a great feature and one that I have gotten a lot of use from with my Pixel XL. You can create custom commands and even change the way you call upon it by saying “Hey Google” instead of “Okay Google”. For some reason that extra syllable in saying “okay” vs. “hey” makes all the difference. Saying “Hey” is just better in my opinion, LOL. Overall this is an amazing laptop that has been beautifully designed. It can’t do everything a traditional laptop can do but it’s perfect for what I need. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a reliable, easy to use, laptop. If you are going to get a Chromebook, do yourself a favor and make it a Pixelbook.

Excellent Chromebook, OK Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only used Chromebooks a few times before taking a look at Google's first party Pixelbook and unlike many Chromebooks on the market today from third-party manufactures, Google has focused on designing and building a premium device. The hardware is very impressive, driven by a powerful Intel Core i5 processor with 8Gb of memory and 128Gb of SSD storage. Chromebooks are becoming increasingly more useful with tools like Microsoft Office being available although a subscription is required to make the best use of the suite of Office tools. An extensive set of apps is available for the Chromebook although if you are used to laptops running Windows or MacOS then the Chrome OS maybe a little limiting for you. If though you're comfortable using your phone for most things but would love a bigger screen and a high quality keyboard then this laptop will not disappoint. Google also makes available a pen for the Pixelbook and I look forward to trying that out although I have not used it yet at the time of writing this review.

Perfect lightweight option
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I prefer to use Windows laptops, this is a great solution for a lightweight, fast-acting, simple solution. The user interface is intuitive and easy to use, and the fact that the device starts up almost instantly is great. We will see if it remains fast over time, but so far so good. The battery life has been fantastic thus far and the fast charging works great! Admittedly, my wife has used this more than I have and has basically claimed this as her own, which is fine as I still prefer to work on my more powerful Dell 2-in-1. She did specify that she likes that either the left or right-side USB-C ports can be used to charge the unit, unlike my Dell (only the left side offers charging capabilities). Overall, this is a great solution for somebody looking for an easy to use, fast, lightweight, touch-enabled device.

Good for what it is, but limited and expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried to switch to this as my main laptop and unfortunately the OS is too limiting. Nice for what it is, but too expensive when compared to other, similar offerings like chromebooks/ipads.

Everything is Great.... Except Operating System/OS
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first encounter with a Chrome Based OS PC (more on that later); The device is lightening quick with all programs and apps (including the touch screen), has plenty of power & storage for such a portable PC, is built sturdy & durable, and is very easy to set up and get going right away. The backlit keyboard and multiple viewing configurations make it suited to use in a wide array of situations on the go or at home. Battery life is fantastic and it charges very quickly with the included charger. Anyone already familiar with the Chrome OS who likes it should not hesitate to get this diamond standard PC and need not read any further. Those who are NOT familiar with Chrome OS should read on. This was my first encounter with the Chrome OS, and I am NOT a fan. The OS operates basically like a tablet as opposed to laptop, and I cannot emphasize enough that this does NOT give the full functionality of a laptop (you are forced to use APPs over web-based programs, can only use certain APPs like on a cell phone or tablet, are limited to using only certain Chrome OS compatible programs that exclude things like downloading browsers outside of the limited versions from APP based browsers, does not allow downloading or access to certain APPs at all/does not allow full android APP access, etc.). It also does not include a dedicated numeric key pad outside of the top row, and shares the caps lock function with the main menu access button, which feels very inconvenient when typing a message of any sort. Although it is handy as a more powerful and user-friendly type of tablet and provides much better operational functionality than using APPS on your cell phone, it is not a stand-in for a laptop (or more than perhaps casual business use), UNLESS the Chrome OS is already your preferred OS. For me, although this is handy, I will primarily be sticking with my windows based laptop devices for my work-related and personal needs. However, If the OS had a more compatible base platform, this device would be impeccable. I'd rate this a 3.5 based on the quality of the device overall, while considering its limited functionality within the APP arena. The overall tech on this thing is amazing, but due to the love/hate OS and the asking price for this, I'm rounding down to a 3, as I would only recommend this to persons who already know what to expect from the Chrome OS, who are comfortable with some of the missing amenities found on a standard touch screen portable laptop/notebook.

Great, but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing product but there are serious flaws with its software. It does not know if it wants to be a Chromebook or android tablet. Until Google figures this out it isn't worth your money...

Great performing, beautifully designed laptop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This new Google Pixelbook laptop is truly a thing of beauty – the design and construction is the best I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a lot of laptops in the last 25 years! The screen is gorgeous, and the hinge implementation is very well done. Performance is outstanding – it is extremely fast to boot up, and between the lightweight ChromeOS and the SSD drive the speed in normal usage is fantastic. While a little pricey, you can really see where your money goes. The only “downside” I can see for some folks is that this is “just” a Chromebook, running the ChromeOS. While not as full-featured as Windows 10 or MacOS, this laptop can probably do everything that 90% of people actually use a laptop for!

Still a Major Flaw
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to like the Pixelbook. Gorgeous hardware, and I use Google Apps for everything. I really wanted to use this to replace my Macbook and iPad. In the end, though, I'm returning for two reasons: 1) my Google account is a GApps for Education, not Gmail, and there are just so many limitations on those. 2) I can't get over the trackpad. It looks nice, feels nice, butbth cursor jumps around everywhere. Apple has cornered the market on user input with trackpads and no one else comes close.
