Close to being amazing but falls short
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's some very good and just bad in the Pixelbook. I have had it a couple months now. The good: It's zippy/fast and it doesn't slow or bog down. Tethering to my Pixel 2 is awesome when in a place with no WiFi and seamless. Updates in background unlike windows so never know it's updating or slows your turning on the computer. Convertible positions/tablet/tent. Keyboard is great; key pad is really great. Super nice hardware. There is really some great stuff!! The bad: Screen too small. Some fonts are too small for aging eyes. Despite settings for larger fonts, some fonts are NOT changed--making it hard to see for aging eyes--this is not insignificant. Some apps are NOT compatible. I work in Medicine and NEED Citrix Receiver to work. It worked great, at first but when my hospital did an upgrade, the Citrix chrome app was rendered 100% useless. This is a huge deal for me but shows how the software is NOT up to par with the rest of the world. It is EXTREMELY disappointing that this laptop is rendered completely unuseless for work b/c of lame software updates/compatibility issues. Maybe in the future, the Pixelbook will be able to contend with Microsoft and Apple but NOT yet, which is super--super disappointing. I'll be selling my Pixebook and very sad about it b/c I really wanted to break away from Microsoft and Apple but I can't due to the lack of software.

Almost There...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The pixel book is so close to being a real contender, but it ultimately falls short in a number of areas. For the price point, it lacks features such as a biometric authentication, and the pen is sold separately. In addition, audio is pretty horrendous - very tinny and underwhelming. Before considering a pixel book, you first need to decide if you can live with Chrome OS, the operating system that powers the pixel book (and all Chrome Books). Chrome OS is very limited in what it does, but it has improved greatly over time thanks mostly to the ability to run android apps (although, some are not optimized for Chrome and result in a somewhat buggy experience). The simplicity of Chrome OS is a blessing and a curse - in the case of the Pixel book, I consider it a curse because, for the asking price, you'll end up with a machine that you expect to do a lot more. That being said, the pixel book does what it can do very well - buttery smooth, virtually no lag, automatic updates, near instantaneous startup - these are all positives. In the end, however, the pixel book feels a little over priced for what it offers.

A Solid High-end Chromebook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off the build quality of the laptop is top notch, and ChromeOS works exactly as it should. I would recommend this laptop to anyone who is looking for a high end Chromebook.

Extremely Quick Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop. I bought the pixelbook when it was on sale for 25% off. Like most chrombooks it runs ChromOS, Most people have the wrong idea about this OS. It will do 98% of what most people do and it will do it faster! The OS is extremely well optimized so everything is just lighting fast. I'm using my Pixelbook in conjunction with my Pixel 2 XL is the instant tethering feature is a really big plus! Just open the Pixelbook and it will connect to my phone via mobile data in a matter of about 3 seconds! The only complaint i have a bout it is i wish the track-pad was a bit bigger, its very accurate and overall I am happy with it except its size.

Great Laptop but returned...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to like this Pixelbook, and I did for the most part. But I had issues trying to SCAN. OMG, I about went crazy trying to scan with this thing. I am sure it was me not being able to adapt to a new system. So I hastily returned it. But Pixelbook is a great laptop for everything else. I love the 2-in-1 feature and for people who don't get it, the bezels were left the way they are, so you can use it as a tablet and comfortably hold onto the sides. It makes complete sense and works very well. I returned my pixelbook for the 2017 Macbook. But I am bored with the Macbook and miss the 2-in-1 usability of the Pixelbook. The Macbook keyboard has problems and I had to have it repaired. I might sell it and give the Pixelbook another try. Pixelbook is a winner, though.

Great computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're heavily into everything Google, this computer is for you. Runs Chrome OS, but can do Linux, Android apps, and anything web/cloud based. Fantastic build quality. Keyboard, touchpad, and screen are super.

Loved it, won't ever buy more Google hardware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great machine while it was working. I absolutely loved it. At some point it started occasionally not booting and I had to use the refresh and power several times, then it would work again. Then it died and died hard. I'm not alone with the "black screen of death" but I won't buy any more Google hardware. No support, no parts, it's just trash at this point. 4 good years though..

Premium device, sketchy Wi-Fi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Premium device updated by Google till May 2024. Cons: On my unit the Wi-Fi is fragmentary, it keeps connecting and disconnecting randomly (tested on 3 different networks). Pretty much annoying for a device that requires Wi-Fi to work as intended according to Google. The screen would glitch occasionally when the ambient light changes, but it seems to be a feature rather than a bug. BestBuy and other retailers heavily discounted Pixelbook for up to 25% off the base price from June 3 to 17, 2018. After that sale ended and the prices came back to normal, Best Buy still announced a supposedly "sale" by marking in red a slashed higher price near the regular one till June 23, 2017. I felt for that one and I bought a base model on June 22, 2018 paying the full price. When asked for the price match with Amazon I got a refuse and the following answer: (quote) "The item must be both sold and shipped by Amazon in order to price match. Our Price Match Guarantee does not cover products shipped from or sold by third-party sellers on websites." I'm a result oriented person and I don't mind the hassle of traveling 60 miles back to the store and take advantage of the return policy.

Love my new pixelbook!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the pixelbook during best buy's black friday sale, and I am very happy with my purchase! It's sleek, slim, and fast. I am retired so I don't need all the features of a normal laptop, so this is perfect for me. The only downside is that best buy doesn't sell any cases or screen protectors...Hopefully, they change that soon.

Bluetooth Audio Really Bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pixelbook is good machine except; The bluetooth audio craps out after 10-20 minutes and requires rebooting and re-pairing of the Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones, and then it goes through that cycle all over again. Bose works well with my 2 Dells, but not with PixelBook. Same applies with My other bluetooth headphones.

Mislead
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's hard for me to give this computer much of a rating at all. I purchased this on New Years when it was on sale with a free google home. When I purchased the Pixelbook I was told by Best Buy that they didn't offer a warranty yet for it but I would be able to contact Google and purchase a warranty through them after purchasing. I contacted Google about the warranty to find out that because I purchased the Pixelbook from Bestbuy that I could not get a warranty through them. So both companies could not give me a warranty. Before I made my purchase I was told about how Google would be integrated text features into the Pixelbook soon and to date that is still not true. I was sold on the integration of Android apps and almost all of the ones I use do not work. PUBG mobile recently came out and I assumed that with the horsepower in this computer I should easily be able to play it. No. Because the pixelbook uses an intel processor unlike most other chromebooks I could not boot past a black screen. This is a way overpriced chromebook and nothing more. Other than looks it is a waste of money. Go for a cheaper chromebook or a surface.

The best Chromebook available hands down...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried several different laptops that include Chromebooks, Windows, and Macs. To my surprise, Chrome OS and the Pixelbook is my favorite to use. It serves multiple functions compared to the competition and it's extremely powerful.

Really good, but not great.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A solidly built, quick Chromebook. I only have two complaints: 1) The light-gray keyboard with transparent-gray keys is difficult to see IN THE DAYLIGHT. The transparent-gray letters occasionally light up for no reason and blend into the gray keys. 2) The HUGE bezzles surrounding the display seem really out of place for $1,000. Either make the display bigger or the entire laptop smaller. Samsung Pro used to be the best Chromebook, but sadly it's dead :(

Not sure about this one yet.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to love it but I just can't. I came from Mac and there are things that just bother me such as the audio quality is extremely squeaky, and the webcam video quality is horrible. I really like the design but would prefer it to be just a little bigger. I like the option for the pencil and the touch screen works very well. Seems to be a good computer but it just doesn't have the right specs for my personal use but would it work great if I were just using it for school.

No Fix Yet!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gave the pixelbook only one star for one reason after 5 days working with google techs on printing and bluetooth issues they emailed me back saying they are both known issues with no fix at this time. I spent $999 for a laptop that has known issues this should be taken off the shelf IMO.

Horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer along with a pen for my freshman year of college but since purchasing I have realized that it is by far the worst computer I have ever owned (so much so I made a best buy account just to write this review). My pixelbook within TWO WEEKS started shutting off randomly and glitching constantly however I was willing to overlook these problems. The frustration in this review mainly comes from the fact that the pixelbook (and chromebook) are not compatible with ANYTHING. Need to use Lockdown Browser, Pearson, McGraw Hill Connect (all highly used sites for almost all colleges)? TOO BAD. They are not compatible with the computer along with many other non education related sites and apps I have needed. Leaving this review in hopes that no one else wastes hundreds of dollars like I did. My advice: literally get any other non google computer. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Dead Battery after 6 weeks of use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased brand new Pixelbook from Best Buy. After 6 weeks of use the unit wouldn't turn on anymore due to dead battery. Google acknowledged the issue and agreed to swap it out for a "refurbished unit". Exact same thing happened to Pixel phone and the "refurbished unit" died 12 months later post warranty. Google makes a habit of selling new and then swapping for used products that simply don't last. Would not recommend Google for hardware products. They do not stand behind them and the quality is poor. Best Buy was of no assistance either since I didn't buy a warranty that would ensure the product I just paid $1,000 for actually worked. Since when should I buy functional assurance on a product I'm paying 1,000 for?

the software kills this otherwise nice computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the Pixelbook for just about a year. The hardware is really nice and love the hardware. The problem is the severe lack of optimization of software. Even running (trying to) the Google Messages texting app, gets to the point where it's constantly trying to re-connect and then circles the drain trying and sometimes/often doesn't re-connect at all, rendering it completely useless. If the software actually worked, (besides just web surfing) I would absolutely love this but software is so bad. Also, different apps loose certain, sometimes critical functions when in tablet mode, again, rendering an app completely useless. I will look to sell the Pixelbook soon here and really don't want to but I won't continue to tolerate the awfulness of the software.
