Setup was easy--once you start, adding devices is a 1-2-3 process. But the end result was that the wi-fi signal throughout the house is only medium-low strength, which was a big disappointment.

Got this because I have issues with so many wifi networks around my neighborhood. I was interested in the features like 80211AC and the beam forming tech but wasn't impressed. I have pretty old Apple routers and this doesn't compare at all. The range isn't good at all, maybe 2 rooms away if you're lucky and it dropped signal a lot for no reason. I went back to my older AirPort Extreme and I guess I'll just have to deal with it. I'm sure if you got the 3 pack and meshed them together it'd be better, but with just a single one you'll have trouble with anything bigger than an apartment.

This system caught me off guard with how well it (consistently) performs. Set up was an absolute breeze. My biggest concern going into it was our baby monitor which only works on 2.4ghz. Since almost all of our devices run on the 5ghz channel I thought it would be a pain to set up. To summarize it the baby monitor can only be set up by plugging in my phone directly to the cam so it can transfer the network information from the phone to the cam. My phone runs on 5ghz by default so I was repeatedly unsuccessful. I discovered the iPad mini we have runs on 2.4ghz so I was able to set it up with the iPad instead. That's the only problem I had. I will still give it 5 stars for the amount of control the companion app gives me, the coverage is amazing, and that after setting up the first hub all additional hubs now give you 2 Ethernet switches to hardwire any device into. The inability to switch between 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands is not as big of a deal as most of the negative reviews make it out to be. The system really does a good job of automating that task for you. I've recommended this router to 3 coworkers all of which have purchased it, kept it, and love it.

I made this purchase to help support bandwidth and multiple devices for internet. Believe this was a waste of money. Don’t see any improvement with streaming. A lot buffering.

I am having issues when the device does an automatic update it crashes the internet. I have to unplug everything and start over

Having a two story house, I thought this might help with coverage on the second floor. Have tried connection to ATT and Google and could not tell a difference in connection, speed, etc.

Worked great for 2 years, now its randomly dropping connections both when wired and wifi. I will be calling google support

Best Buy employee for some reason said this was a WiFi extender and I ca use it with my Comcast router, but that was not the truth. So if you are looking for an extender only do not buy this.

I honestly thought the product would provide added wifi range from my bedroom to my daughters but has been inconsistent in that regard. I purchased one pod as opposed to the three pod.

This Google Wifi product seemed to work very well initially and was as easy to install as the instructions and mobile phone app would seem to suggest; however, after about 4 weeks, the signal seemed to drop out. After seeking advice online and through customer support, I could not get it to work. Customer support, while prompt, offered little extra help other than suggesting I try calling my ISP for more advanced level support. Very disappointing from a tech company. I purchased a new product and am stuck with this as it is beyond the return date.

I was using the Ruckus R510 AP with AT&T 300Mps plan but getting not so good coverage so decided to look into getting a mesh wifi and hearing a lot of good reviewed on this Google wifi. Installation is straight forward and the range is great , the only problem is I could not get the speed past 100Mps while the Ruckus hit 300+, have tried everything I can think off. By the end I just gave up returning it.

I bought this for my husband to enhance our internet connection. It was pretty easy to setup the connection increased some, but was hoping for a stronger signal. Overall pretty satisfied.

Simple set up and good coverage but I found limitations such as a hard coded network address range and the process for setting up fixed ip address to be too restrictive for my complex home network.

Read alll the reviews. Read all specs from google and att. When connected was GREAT!! When I return from work NOT CONNECTED and VERY UNSTABLE. Would have to do a FR. Major disappointment

Google wifi just couldn't connect to my Time Warner cable modem. Called Google and Time Warner tech support and just couldn't get it connect. After numerous attempts to connect, just gave up and returned it for a refund. Got the Netgear Orbi instead and got it to work right away. No complaints so far after a couple of weeks.

This item is not as good as it was presented. After purchasing the product I still had connectivity issues throughout the the house. Finally, I changed providers and with the new router and service the problem was fixed, but I kept the google pods hoping to improve the new signal. Sadly, they were not an improvement over the new router.

Worked okay for my situation but had a lot of dead spots and slow spots. Tried a couple of other routers in bridge mode and that seemed to be a better solution for me.

I have three mesh points. All worked flawlessly for a couple weeks then out of nowhere all three mesh points will go offline simultaneously and then reconnect after a few minutes. Over and over all day and night. Google has been contacted several times and cannot find a solution. I am out of my return window so now they cant even be returned and I am stuck with these three units that only work intermittently.

The Google WiFi system is perfect for any basic or advanced user depending on your specific needs. Quick facts: user friendly, easy and quick set-up (quick as 10minutes or less), great coverage area, no noticeable speed decrease when power-using. Design: These devices are great for the modern home. They come with nice white power cords and one white Ethernet cable. The devices are a good size, not too clunky, not an eyesore. Definitely much smaller imprint that other routers, especially routers for power users. Set-up: Set up is quick and simple. The one caveat is that you have to download the app to your phone to get the network going. This can be a problem for some. I was not a fan of this requirement. In addition, it requires you to set up a new Google account, or link to an existing one. I see no reason why this had to be required. However, set-up is as easy as plugging in a few cords and following the directions on the app. You can also make your user-specific adjustments in the app, which is convenient. Overall, this is one area I believe can be improved. However, it is definitely smooth and easy to get up and running for anyone. Functionality/Compatibility: I enjoyed that the additional units can be configured to have up to 2 ethernet ports away from the main router connected to the modem. Unfortunately a big area of improvement for many users is the lack of ethernet ports on the main unit. You can only connect ONE ethernet device to the main unit. For additional connections you will need to connect them to another device or purchase a separate ethernet switch/port. Although many devices have WiFi, this is a huge shortcoming since there are many users would will need additional ports for wired devices, max speed, etc. Hard to compete with top of the line routers without this. No USB port to set up a local hard drive, printer, etc. Also a big miss for some users. These units would also be great to mount on a wall, ceiling, cabinet, etc. Unfortunately there are no mounting tabs which would also be useful. Overall, I think Google has missed big points here, but most likely the average user won't care and therefore they left it out. Connectivity: I used three devices to cover approx 5,000 square feet (indoor and outdoor). Coverage was always excellent (with well-placed devices) inside the house. However, once going outside the signal did not reach very far, but it was not terrible. Not uncommon for many routers, so if this is a must you might want to place one outside in a protected area. The coverage in my opinion was very good. Speeds were never an issue, even with streams, gaming, and internet use at the same time. It must be noted that if you are setting up three of these in areas under 4-5K sq feet, there really shouldn't be any issues. I would recommend at least one unit per 1,000-1,500sq. feet max. Summary: great for the average user, excellent for basic user, and 50/50 for advanced user depending on needs. The connection can definitely handle power-use. Lack of ethernet ports on the main unit, no usb, requirement of App and Google Account to set-up are the only major pitfalls. I think most users will be very happy.

I didn't need a new router. I just wanted a new toy. I wanted something that I thought would make my life easier. This Wi-Fi router was the complete opposite. 1st issue was that it didn't work with my NAS drive. After 3 phone calls and some tweets to Google and several miss steps on their part my network is back in order running fine. My WD NAS drive was not recognized. So I called they told me to do a few things which I did but I was told that they were just using forums online to figure out the issues. I thought I was talking to a tech person and not someone who was reading from random online forums looking for something that may work. Also I have a chromebook I couldn't try and do what they wanted me to do without actually having a windows computer. Then they proceeded to read to me what they were reading on forums telling me to do things that I didn't have to do with my old router. Things that I couldn't even do with the router or the NAS. So I told them it was fine and let them go after about 30 minutes. I disconnected everything. I set up everything probably 5 times thinking maybe something was backwards. I tried one last time and it still didn't work. So I disconnected it and packed it back up and I am returning it. The issue with changing the router is that it messed up all of my other things such as smart bulbs and even my garage door. Thankfully after several hours everything seems to be back to where it was. Definitely not worth the hassle of replacing a working router.
