Customers frequently mention the ease of use, excellent coverage, and straightforward setup of the Google Wifi AC1200 system. Many also praise the improved signal strength and extended range, resulting in better overall performance. While some users experienced connectivity challenges, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns. A few customers noted the system's higher price point.

Great for the Home with WiFi Coverage Gaps

We have a decent size home and have areas were the WiFi coverage is lacking. I first tried to setup a repeater. The thing was a bear to setup. It worked fine once configured but it essentially gave you two different WiFi networks to connect to. If you were in the area of the home where the repeater had better coverage, you had to disconnect from the main network and switch to the repeater's.
The Google Whole Home WiFi system is the complete opposite of that fiasco. First, everything works together as one network, a WiFi mesh network. It is smart such that once setup, if you're within range of multiple devices, they will supposedly pick the one that will provide you with the fastest connectivity.
Everything is controlled by an app that runs on your phone, either iOS or Android. The app will NOT run on your laptop/desktop. The app lets you prioritize devices on the network such that if a kid is hogging bandwidth, you can make sure you get your bandwidth needs fulfilled first. There is a very limited parental control app built in that they call Family Wi-Fi pause. You can disable specific devices at certain times so kids aren't playing all night. While this feature works as intended, I would be more inclined to get a full fledged kid monitoring and access control system to ensure wandering eyes don't see what they shouldn't when they do have access.
Overall I like the product and it is easy to setup. Something I'm not particularly fond of is the high price when you need the three device setup. One way you can justify this though is to send your cable company's networking router back and use this as a replacement, thus saving the monthly rental fees.

Love the three pack and couldn't be happier with the setup, performance and coverage! A little expensive, but it's such a quality product from the solid sleek hardware to the easy to use app, and the visibility and control it provides. Just really happy with it overall!

Alternative to Traditional Router

The Google Home WiFi System performs very well in the place of a traditional router by supplying fast, seamless WiFi coverage to all corners of my home. It comes with the 3 WiFi points, 3 cords, an ethernet cable, and a quick start guide. Each WiFi point is intended to cover up to 1500 sq ft of a home. My home is not nearly that large, so I cannot speak to the intended full coverage range of 4500 sq ft. If you have a smaller home, you might just want to get a single Google Home WiFi point, or two. Needless to say, three WiFi points in a smaller home does really well! The WiFi points have a low profile and blend in pretty well around the house. You simply connect the base WiFi point to your modem via the ethernet cable. Each point has two LAN ports, so on the base point one port is for the ethernet cable from the modem and the other can be used as LAN for a computer, etc. Each point will display different colors depending on if it is connected to the network or not. There is an App that you can use to control pretty much everything about the Google Home Wifi system, including the installation. It will ask you to scan the QR code on the base, and will walk you through the steps of setting up the remaining points. The app doesn't have great parental controls. It does have the option to setup Guest Networking, and it appears there is functionality to control smart home devices, like Hue light products. Overall, this system is very simple, streamlined, and blends into the home. I don't think it has all of the bells and whistles of a top-end router, but you probably wouldn't be buying this if you have the need for a top-end router.

I'm getting 460+ Mbps out of my modem. Translating to 80-120Mbps on WIFI mesh. Terribly inconsistent and slow. Wishing I would have protected the purchase so I could return this crap system. Google has been aware of the issue for MONTHS and had done nothing to address or even acknowledge it. I expect a lot more from Google.

When I bought this item my first and only mistake was not to check for how many outputs had cost 100 dlls and only handle 1 output to another google same kind, for 139 dlls lynk-systems offer 3 different Wi-Fi signals and with 3 antennas better reception and 4 outputs for tv, cameras, and extra wire to another room where this pos google will be the extender looser

I purchased these to cover a 3000 foot house, when they worked they worked well. The problem was they don't work reliable, at least not in our house. Replaced them with an Orbi and that hardware worked way better on the down side the app software is horrible.

I just got the new Spectrum Internet Gig. This router wouldn't detect the signal rendering it completely useless. Had read several reviews stating it could handle gigabit speed internet with no issues, but much to my dismay, those were incorrect. My install tech said he'd had 5 other customers with the same router that could not get it to work.

This is an unreliable router. It works intermitently. Drops the network regularly and when it does work, it is painfully slow even though the app shows lightening speeds. It constantly asks for a password, and indicates incorrect password when the password is entered. Online traffic will bear out these negative comments. Stay away!
