Unfortunately, I bought mine new in store and it also happened to be broken out of the box. The nut holding the bolt was broken. Had to exchange for another handgrip. If your looking to buy this, please inspect your unit in the store to save you the hassle.

Gives it stability when using as well as length when wanting to take group photos or wide angle vids. 5 starts all the way.
