We bought this camera less than a week before vacation. It took amazing video which is sharp and clear. It was easy to use and I highly recommend it.

Video quality is excellent. But there are plenty of issue to deal with. Battery life is very short (less than one hour). Audio quality is only fair even when not in the housing and away from wind. Sometimes it refuses to charge even when plugged in to a charging port on a powered up computer or even the car charger. Uses so much power to record that when it is plugged into a car charger it uses up the battery and power from the charger with only a record time of 1 1/2 hour with both. Power button sometimes doesn't work and sometimes is too sensitive that it comes on when barely touched. Controls are easy to get lost in and hard to see.

The camera is awesome. Very small and compact. Worth every penny. 4K video quality is outstanding. The mobile app making it even better being able to download pics and videos very quickly. The ONLY downside is that the battery life sucks. Maybe I expect more but battery life is way to short and probably the battery life is justified due to the amazing video quality and versatility the camera has. Typical batery life for me is about 2 to 3 hours. Give or take, Depending on the use and app connectivity.

This camera is the greatest!!! Rugged, Waterproof, shockproof and etc. Bought this for my cruise in March 2016 and the 4K is AMAZING!!!!!!!!

This camera was purchased for the 3DR Solo flying drone. It works well, and gets great video. I set it to the recommended 1080 60 fps medium wide view and I get nice video from the drone. Don't forget to update the firmware on the camera, I've had two updates already since I have owned it. The new firmware updated features of the camera and added some new controls. I've also used the camera by itself to captures some time lapse videos. This is a fun thing to do, capturing the sunrise and flowers waking up, etc. Try it, you will like it!

I know, I know, I rated "Good", but titled this review as "Excellent." This is because I had to return the first HERO4 I bought. See, When I purchased this from Best Buy, I also got the extended warranty. Good thing too, because a month and a half later, the camera began to take purple pictures and videos. Literally purple and pixelated. Otherwise, the HERO4 is AWESOME. I recommend you buy one FROM BEST BUY and get the Geek Squad warranty. Otherwise you can easily be up s*** creek without a paddle. Note: When my first HERO4 started taking purple pictures, I brought it into my local Best Buy and they replaced it for me without any hassle. Not to mention, I didn't have to buy another warranty, as I was able to keep the same one for the replacement HERO4

As someone who works professionally in film it's easy to see why cinematographers are choosing the Hero 4 Black to add to their arsenal. I chose GoPro because their cameras have plenty of settings to choose from to get your shot just right. Any pro will tell you it's all about the settings and if you add that to the ability to do it in 4K you've got a great camera that will turn out shots as you envisioned them...

I wanted a high quality video/camera for vacation and special events. The Hero 4 Black is perfect and it's even waterproof! Love it!

Being a longtime Drift user for motovlogging, I enjoyed the Drift form factor on my helmet. It looked pretty natural and had an easy water resistant mic connection in the back for riding in the rain. But times changes, and eventually we all want more than 1080p at 30fps. When you look at what's out there, you begin to see that it's hard to match the video fidelity of a GoPro Hero 4 Black. So, kicking and screaming, I weaned myself away from my Drift and bought this. Look, between you and me, the pros outweigh the cons. The video is stunning, and if you get the right external USB microphone, the audio works well. If you get the wrong one, your audio quality will resemble Dorothy being caught in a tornado above Kansas. But there are other issues. Form factor is a big one for me. Again, using it on a motorcycle, I've put it off to the side of my helmet and it looks like I've attached a small brick to the side of my head to test it for wind resistance. The stealth case (stealth brick hanging off the side of my helmet) has no opening on the side for an external USB mic, so I had to Dremel a hole in the side, which also exposed the flash card slot to the elements. Unfortunate. Battery life is not what it is on the Drift, BUT, I have to give GoPro a pass here since it's recording at either a higher resolution (4K at 30fps) or more frames per second (1080p at 60fps) so I understand the higher use of battery power. Getting it in and out of the case is frustrating and often results in the camera moving all the mounting screws due to the force required to do so. Even if you just want to swap out a battery or a memory card, you have to get the camera out of the case. Drift does this a lot better. Overall, GoPro is a natural and popular choice. It could use improvements to make it more usable, but of the few choices out there, I think I made the best one for me.

The wife and I picked this up as a Christmas gift to ourselves and couldn't be happier. Shoots excellent video and is very easy to use!

It seems that everyone is using GoPro cameras these days; with its compact size, ease of use, and great video quality, it's easy to see why. The GoPro Hero4 Black is an amazing video action camera, and the most expensive GoPro available. While I do like it's high video quality, slow-motion video options, and low-light capabilities, I do wish it had a touch screen like the Silver (though this is problem is slightly offset by the ability to control and see a live video feed with your smart phone).

Excellent size and weight. Good image quality. I do wish that it had the LCD display but that apparently makes it overheat so they didn't include it. Works well via iOS control app. Nice wide angle video pictures!

Great Camera with stunning video and very high quality built. Very user friendly with a sync app that allows you easy control.

I am so happy I purchased the GoPro - HERO4 Black 4K Action Camera. It is very easy to use and the picture quality is amazing.

This camera has it all. Excellent picture and sound. Battery could be a bit longer but it has the juice for everything I do.

Nobody competes with GoPro. Sony tries but falls short. The 1080p 120fps is outstanding. The 4k resolution is captivating!
