I had another stereo like this one that I had used to transfer tapes and albums to CD, but it stopped working (disk drawer stuck). I needed a replacement to continue these projects and this was the selection I finally settled on. The record player works just fine. The speakers may not be quite as nice as my previous model, but they are acceptable. The difference is how you transfer the tapes/albums. I'm not sure if the description was completely clear or not (I had looked at SEVERAL choices before deciding), but I thought that this model also recorded directly to a CD like my old model. It does not. You have to run a cable (included) to your computer and record a file to it. The software is included. It's a little trickier than I would prefer, but usable. It is also time consuming to split the record side A or B files into individual tracks, but I hope to figure out the best way to do it soon. Overall, this is a decent piece of equipment. It was priced well which is why I went with it in the first place. I just wish my older, simpler model was still functioning.

First of all, I love the retro style of this turntable. I've been wanting to listen to my old phonograph records for years, and now I can enjoy listening to the "Oldies" anytime. I'm from the old school, so I'm not interested in all the other features this has, but there here if I want them. I'm happy with it.

Absolutely love this unit! I could do without the cassette player, but so far everything on it works great! Drawbacks though is the radio, it's a bit more touchy than my older unit so getting my local stations is proving difficult. A wise decision on the manufacturer's part by making this an all in one unit. The radio, cd player, cassette for those who still have some, and the aux port make it useful to vinyl lovers. My housemates have used this often, even though I'm the only one with records. The old style theme is wonderful as well - I would have liked to have one with an old phonograph horn but this is a nice compromise between the modern and the antique. Overall this player is a delightful addition to our "culture corner", along side the piano, the bookshelf and the hotel chair.

Sets up easily and everything works. It would be nicer if the AUX plugs were also on the front.

I got this for my husband for Christmas and its great I expected it to be made of really cheap material but it's actually really sturdy and strong. Also the needle on the record player picks up when the record is over to prevent scratching. (I also knew it didn't have an iPod dock when I bought it its just the one flaw it has to me)

The sound on this is great no matter if you are listening to old records, a cd or the radio. I haven't transferred anything on to my computer yet though, although it looks easy to do.

I have two complaints; it was advertised as being "brown"; the picture on the website showed it to be a light, reddish-brown, but it still would fit in with my other furniture. However, when I opened the box, the unit was a strong, red brick color, and doesn't really go with my furniture. I've made an adjustment to offset the color difference, mainly because I didn't want to return it. It's what I've been looking for. I believe that the picture on the internet should represent all aspects of the unit, including the color. It was also advertised as having an automatic return arm--it doesn't. You have to lift a small lever on the side of the arm to change the record. Again, not advertised well. I don't think I will purchase online from Best Buy again.

I bought this item for the purpose of downloading my vinyl records to my computer and then to my MP3 player. It will do this but the instructions are for older operating systems and it is not clear as to how to proceed. I have Microsoft 10. It included a cd that is supposed to allow this process but it acted like it was blank. One has to go to the website of Audacity to get the screen that allows one to perform this task. It would be nice if someone would show me how to do it but one needs to be a recording engineer to understand the names of the buttons and procedures. I had to call to find out what to ask for when I went on line and the person gave me a link to go right to it. I did manage to transfer one side of an LP to my computer but had a lot of trouble with the other side and finally gave up. Someday I may try again. The tape player seems slightly larger than the cassette and is difficult to load. Do not force it! Other than that, it is an impressive player. The sound is good, better than I expected! I use it mostly as a dock to play my MP3 player.

My brothers and I bought this for my dad for Christmas this year. He wanted to start listening to some of his old "vinyl". We gave it to him Christmas Eve. He loves it. We listened to old records into the early morning. Easy to operate. The sound quality is quite remarkable for the price even with the volume turned up. So glad we found this for him. Now my brother and sister-in-law are going to buy one.

    Piece of Junk

This is a piece of junk. The albums played kind of but not great. The 45's sounded weird. The CD player is a piece of junk. The CD's kept slipping off the tray. Finally one wouldn't come out. I had to close and open it 3 times to get the CD out which was brand new Christmas CD. It came out all scratched. I returned this turn table and bought a Crosley for almost 1/2 the price and it works so much better. It is also built a lot better.
