Very sad especially having a child that looks like the little girl. Great story always a fan of maiazakis work. Honestly i personally can only watch this movie once in many many blue moons. The film sticks in my head to where i cant unsee the sadness that the two children have to go through during a war.

Proper Edition Of A Modern Day Classic Film

Flat out great - as in a classic film in general - anime. A brutal, post-war tragedy about the dissolution of a Japanese family and a pair of children coping with the loss and imposed responsibilities.
Just incredibly animated, now with a cleaner "print" to do the film it's proper justice.

This movie can only be described as a true masterpiece. It’s not the for the faint of heart as it will make your gut wrench. A must-have for true Studio Ghibli collectors. The steelbook is adequately beautiful and complements the rest of the Ghibli steelbooks with a similar but slightly different design.

A heartbreaking master piece that moved me when I saw in Japan for the first time when I was still a kid. I've had the candy box with me all the time after watching this movie. Still makes me teary when I watch this movie. A classic that always will be in memory.

I watch very few animation flicks but I must say that this one was superb! A sad story of war in Japan, the bombings and a brother and sister's fight to survive. Have plenty of tissue ready!

Grave of the Fireflies is soul wrenching, I can only imagine how much harder it is to watch if you are a parent. It's an important film, and the one that's of Studio Ghibli's turnout, the hardest to watch.

Don't get it twisted. Images and themes will still haunt you. Essential film (understand how I don't mention animated film... art is art, expression is expression, animated or live-action.)

I've always been fascinated by japanese anime movies especially the classic ones. Grave of the fireflies is one of those simple and straighforward stories. This particular one is nothing too dramatic and simply portrays the life of people involved in a time of war and suffering. It was a good movie, maybe not something you would thoroughly enjoy but definitley something you would appreciate.

It is one of the best war movies, animated or not. Explores the poignant consequences of war through the intimate experiences of a boy and his young sister.

To American audiences this movie might feel a anti-war, and it's OK to feel that way. Though it feels that way, it wasn't the point and the author meant for it to be more of a "be grateful for what you have" message to Japanese youth born after the war. It's still a sad movie either way you take it and it's sort of a wonder that this is a Ghibli movie. Even funnier that it was a double-bill with Totoro when both were in Japanese theaters. Let that sink in.
