Lots of functionality in an intuitive phone!

Bought this for my mom, whose iPhone was too confusing for her but she liked the look and idea of a smartphone. I was surprised how much this phone could do - essentially almost everything an average iPhone users needs! But it is packaged a little more intuitively and I was able to "hide" a lot of the functions. The phone is probably still more than my mom needs and possibly still too confusing for her; time will tell as she only has had it for a week. But it seems like a good phone for the money!

The phone is good and easy to use. However, it does not give options to deal with messages, text, and numbers already dialed like most other phones do, such as easily selecting them to be added to the contact list, or deleted. It seems to have a dial default. If you touch it, it dials it. Also, difficult to swipe to answer sometimes for arthritic fingers.

    Great Phone, Great Plan

Best smart phone ever for the person who needs a cell phone but doesn't want or need all the bells and whistles of an iPhone. This 'Jitterbug' phone (aka Great Talk) uses the Verizon network, so coverage nationwide is virtually guaranteed. Only drawbacks to this phone is that you cannot use it while it is being charged, and it does take a little longer than other phones to 'turn on'. Otherwise, great call and sound quality, easy features to learn, awesome phone for seniors or emergency use.

I did a test for this phone to see how easy and useful it would be for the seniors I work with, using my mom as a perfect test case. It turns out the large button and up front menu system were very easy for her to learn and work through. At 89, it was great to see her able to gain a quick understanding of the functions. The great call programs for health and wellness are also very good tools for her to have at her disposal. Being able to keep her medical history updated and with her at all times would be a great feature and helpful for her doctors. I would suggest taking a look at this product, especially if you are a long distance caregiver.

This phone is a perfect choice for elderly people. Large display and plenty of bells and whistles if you need them.

I had reviewed this phone on the Internet and also through the AARP magazine as a purchase for my Mother. She is not as "techy" so I wanted to get her an up-to-date smart phone that was easy to use. So far it's been a great purchase and my Mother is able to use it on a daily basis.

I am still reading and following all the directions on how to use the Jigger Bug phone. It takes time for us "elders" to learn and understand these new communication devices. My grandchildren wanted me to learn to text them.

    Jitterbug Smart

While this is marketed as an easy-to-use smartphone for the elderly, I find it more difficult to navigate than my own smart phone. My mother-in-law, thankfully had the assistance of myself and my husband to assist her in navigating the set up, installation and initial use of her Jitterbug. Had we not been here to help, I'm certain she would have returned the phone to the store extremely frustrated. The Pros: Large Icons, Simplified Menu, and 5 Star service (medical assistance that we don't use or pay extra for). Great customer service. The Cons: The selection of ring tones are not loud enough for most seniors who are hard of hearing and the screen is super sensitive. Blocking callers is much more difficult and necessitated a call to customer service to learn how to do this. The usage meter is misleading as we paid for unlimited talk and text but her phone is unaware of this and has her "going over" minutes on the usage meter. (We called customer service and they can't fix this.) Also, they offer limited data (2 g max) which could result in data overage. In my opinion, this unit could benefit from some small changes that would make it even more user friendly and easier to use for the seniors to whom it's marketed.

Outstanding: my wife has failed to deal with either iPhone or computer. iPhone print too small. Computer too complex. She considers this to be both of them. She is very happy using Gmail and google on this device. She loves turning it sideways for the bigger keyboard. For the first time she carries the phone around with her all the time. Costs a bunch: they have a lot of low priced options but they realized to really use a cell phone as a senior you have to use the text function because all medical providers like to use it and it is only in the high price option.

Great smartphone for all ages. Purchased for my 86 year old grandmother who wanted, "...to just be able to make and answer calls!" While it looks/works like any other phone, the extra large font and easy mode capabilities, along with affordable plans, make it a winner for her.

Large letters and numbers easier to see for seniors. Coming off an Iphone I used for years, there was somewhat of a learning curve for this android. After a month I'm still learning how to use and find my way around this phone....but so far, so good.

Just bought this phone a couple of weeks ago and still getting used to or learning about some of its features. Voicemail wasn't easy to set up with GreatCall, had to call a different number. It comes with a good video and help guide for reference. I am disappointed that they are charging separately for texting in and out, and also for 800 numbers, unless you go for the $45 plan plus another 6$ taxes and fees.. They are billing one month in advance, so how can they tell your usage? watch their billing. The phone itself is simple to use after first tries.

    Gift for Dad

We bought this for my dad. It is his 2nd smart phone. He likes it much more than his first one because it is easier to use. That's not to say that it is flawless, but he is having much more success with it than his previous one. Setup was a pain and he wanted me to quit & return the phone because he thought that the questions were too prying. We persevered & now all is good.

After looking at many phones, I purchased this device for my elderly mother. A very simple device to use for those that are not comfortable with today's "technology". Features large display, large touch screen buttons and easy to understand prompts. Only negative is to delete call history, it's all or none. She would like to be able to delete specific calls while keeping others in activity log.

I chose this phone for a Christmas gift for my sister whose vision is impaired from a stroke. The large, simple screen display makes it easy for her to see and use. The home screen makes choosing what she wants to do very easy. If she gets lost or makes an incorrect selection, she can easily press the center bottom circle to get her right back to the home screen. This product works well for her.

I am a senior and although the Jitterbug is made for seniors, I needed the assistance of my son in getting it set up. In order to set up Voice Mail, we had to call Greatcall and was given a telephone number to call. Once we got that telephone number, we were able to set up Voice Mail. Now I have to contact my internet carrier in order to set up email on the phone. I do enjoy the large print and it has many good features. While it is good for seniors, make sure you have someone who can assist you in setting it up if necessary.
