I don't give it a five-star rating for two reasons: 1. The battery only lasts about 20 minutes. However, that may be enough for your needs. I have a big backyard so I need at least two full charges to get everything I need to be done. 2. I have to wear sweatpants when I use it. Although it has a protective bumper, a lot of small debris still hits my legs.

Posted .Hello Migs - We're sorry for your troubles with your GreenWorks string trimmer. Please be advised auto-feed will release 1/4" of line each time the unit turns on/off. Here are some tips that may help:
Please ensure that the guard and metal flower guide is on the unit at all times while in operation. This will prevent the line from extending too far out and breaking off at a large length. Check also to make sure the cutting blade on the guard is also clear of debris.
When the string trimmer is used on tougher/hardier terrain more line will snap off resulting in line being used up quicker. When using the string trimmer in this environment, you may have to remember to auto-feed (turn the unit on and off) more frequently. Try extending line first before using the unit on harsh terrain. It will also help to find optimal positioning to avoid hitting rough areas around the grass/weeds you're trying to trim. The more you do this, the easier the handling will become.
Lastly, please be advised this unit is ideal for light to medium duty chores. We do have string trimmers that use a .080" trimmer line that are better suited for tougher terrain.
