Easy to put together, and does a good job for a gas mower. Wish we had gotten a larger mowing deck, but we’re making this one work.

    Battery dies too fast

This lawnmower works great, the reason I gave it 3 stars is the battery dies way too early. I was unable to finish cutting my small lawn (I live in town and have a normal/small yard). So I had to return it, it takes too long for it to recharge. Took me 2 days to do my little lawn when it only takes 30-35 minutes with gas lawnmower. Otherwise I would have kept it :(

Hello JamiD. We are sorry to hear that you are not fully satisfied with your current running time. Runtimes can vary depending on a few factors, including but not limited to if the self-propel feature is used throughout the entire cut, grass texture and consistency, cutting height, and lawn size. The suggested runtime with the included battery is up to 45 minutes of runtime on fully charged battery. The actual run-time will vary depending on grass condition, species, density, moisture, etc. and lawn size. The harder the unit must work, the quicker the battery charge will drain. Similar to how the gas in a vehicle will deplete quicker when driving at higher speeds or carrying more weight. For added runtime, we recommend purchasing an additional 80V batteries; Greenworks 80V batteries are interchangeable with other 80V units, the higher the ampere-hour (AH) rating is on the battery, the longer the run time will be in comparison to a lower ampere-hour battery. Should you have any questions or warranty needs, contact us through Live Chat on Greenworks Tools website or call 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). We are here to help. GreenworksTools

This lawn mower is working well for me. Easy to start. Easy to operate. You will definitely want an extra battery, especially if you mow/mulch. I’m a 71 y/o female who never used a mower before!

Mower does a great job. The big problem would be if I didn't have extra batteries for other greenwork equipment. If it's going to take you more than 25 to 30 minutes to mow your yard you are out of luck on one charge and that is not using the self propelled mode. I don't think I would get more than 15 minutes if I used self propelled. I use 3 batteries to mow for one hour.

Hello john - Thank you for the five-star review. We are happy to hear this unit is doing a great job! Self-propelled mowers move under their own power, utilizing a dedicated propulsion motor or a geared transmission running of the main (blade) motor. This reduces the strain of pushing a heavy lawn mower, meaning bigger areas of lawn can be mowed more frequently as the operators are less fatigued. This also means, self-propelled mowers do use more battery than standard push mowers as more power is being demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels. One of the many benefits of the Greenworks 80V platform is the interchangeability of the batteries. If additional batteries are purchased in a combo pack (tool + battery) for another Greenworks 80V tool, you will have extra battery that would provide you with the additional run time. Alternatively, additional batteries can be purchased to extend the run time. This unit is compatible with 80V Greenworks batteries (only).

3 mows so far and never ran out of battery. A little louder than I anticipated but quieter than gas. Assembly was simple until I got to the handle control connection to the arms. The side with wiring was so cramped and stiff I thought I might be causing damage. Turned out ok but I almost called Tech Cares for a visit. Note: price dropped $70 after my purchase and I happened to see it in one of the many Best Buy emails. I called and they credited my account.

I bought this because it said it could handle a half acre on a single charge. It is easy for an old lady like me to push. Turning was a bit special, but maybe there is an art to it? It does a great job while it's working but it took me 4 charges to get through my quarter acre. Because I had to wait for the battery to charge, i wasted a lot of time. It took me about 4 hours to get through the whole thing. I like the mower but it's just not powered enough for my needs.

Hello calculush1. Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad to hear you found the mower easy to push and effective while in use, but we understand how frustrating it can be when the battery runtime does not meet expectations.
To help extend battery life during mowing, here are a few helpful tips:
Mow more frequently to avoid cutting tall or dense grass.
Avoid mowing wet grass, as it increases power demand.
Set the mower to a higher height when possible.
Limit use of the self-propel feature when conditions allow.
Keep the blade clean and sharp for better efficiency.
Allow the battery to cool before recharging and ensure it is fully charged before use.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, and hope our tips helps you and other customers. Great Electric Mower

Great electric mower with solid single length handles that allow for uptight storage. I went with Greenworks 80v because of the (1)metal deck, (2) “turbo” manual blade speed selection. Single 80v 4Ah battery cut 85% my 1/2 lawn (7/7 cut height & no self propelled engaged). I would recommend a second battery for most users to save time and extend battery life over the years. Only other negative is the collection bag is on the small size vs my old 21” gas mower.

Bought this to test since we already had a snowblower and leaf blower from the same company. Itt performed better than expected and the single batter lasted long enough to comple our entire front and back yard once fully charged. The speed adjustment is useful for a range of users with varying walking speeds and the height adjustment works well for those areas that we don’t want to be extremely low. All around a great product!
