I have to charge mine twice to do my small front yard when using self propelled option. Wheels do not have much grip. Cannot really use manually very well.

Had already used it and didn’t know if it could be returned . battery doesn’t last as long as I would have thought for a 80v

I have not. I read all the reviews and purchased this for our FLAT 1/2 acre lot. I knew it probably wouldn't do the whole thing in one charge but I'm okay with doing it in a couple of shifts, front and back. It took me FOUR (count them, FOUR) battery charges to do the lawn. Again, it's flat. The grass was not high. It was 65 degrees out. I did try out the self-propelled and turbo feaures but didn't leave them on. I was not bagging. It takes well over half an hour to charge the battery, so you're talking about 2 hours of charging time + your mowing time. The battery also quit several times for no apparent reason, beeped at me, and then I had to restart. I wanted to find out if there was something I haven't thought of to extend the battery life (extra batteries are a whopping $200!!) I tried contacting Best Buy AND Greenworks. Greenworks chat is just a bot, and keeps saying it doesn't recognize the model #. This is probably fine if you have a postage stamp lawn, but otherwise prepare to return it.

We do offer batteries that are competitive in pricing as any other brands that are offered and we off double industry standard on the warranty. The benefit of the Greenworks 80v line is the interchangeable batteries. Purchasing additional tools for your lawn maintenance will also provide you with additional batteries for runtime.

Extraordinary Greenworks Lawn Mower
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Greenworks - 80 Volt 21-Inch Self-Propelled Lawn Mower is an incredible mower and it comes with a 4 year warranty. As an older woman, I was able to get it and the included accessories out of the very large box and do the little assembly that was necessary by myself. The 4.0 Ah battery came partially charged, so I slid it into place on the rapid charger and within 1/2 hour it was fully charged. I then inserted the charged battery and removed the red safety plug in the battery compartment. I did all of this before reading any of the 4 booklets that are included with the machine. And yes, I did all of that correctly. Now, let it be known that I currently pay a landscaper that seems to just mow & edge my front and rear yards. I felt that I could do that myself and save a bundle of $$ by doing so. I easily walked the mower into the yard with the mower’s 10” rear tires and 8” front tires. I inserted the red safety plug in the battery compartment and walked to the grassy area. I pushed the power button and I saw the 4 lights but nothing happened. This was the first time I had to rely on the mower instruction booklets. So it seemed I needed to hold the power button while pulling the start handles. Wow! The quiet motor started. Not knowing what was going to happen, I pushed the mower to an area that would allow me to be going in a straight line. I then engaged the drive lever and it took off on me! I let go of the start handles and the mower stopped - a fantastic safety feature! This is truly self-propelled. I started it up again and quickly got the hang of it, starting on the “tortoise” (slow) and slowly and slightly moving toward the “rabbit” (fast) level. This was now fun! The gardener was to come the next day so I was just going to do one time across. It was so much fun, I did the entire lawn! When I was finished, I rinsed off the grass pieces under the mower, folded up the handles and stood it up in its small little area of the garage. It could not have been easier. I absolutely love this Greenworks - 80 Volt 21-Inch Self-Propelled Lawn Mower. It has the accessories and safety features I want and the power I need and perhaps even more power than I need! It is so easy to operate and store. I highly recommend this Greenworks mower.

Quick and easy to assemble. The only drawback is that I haven't found a way to slow the self propelled walking speed. It's too fast even on the tortoise speed side.

There is nothing stopping you from pushing a self-propelled lawn mower but be aware that due to the drive system and the fact they are designed to drive themselves forward they will require more force than a push mower. Yes, the lawn mower can be operated without the self-propelled feature. Simply, do not engage the lever associated with the propelling feature and the unit will not propel forward. The run time will last longer without the self-propelled option being engaged. Hopefully this information will assist in a more enjoyable user experience. The charger is fast and shuts off on its own. Looking forward to using this one again.
