For starters: I have lots of wonderful things to say about this Greenworks 80-volt self-propelled lawnmower. It is powerful, effective, easy-to-use, quiet (compared to many other options), thoughtfully designed, and easy to store. For my needs on a small residential (~1/6 acre) lot, this mower does it all and truly makes my life easier. Even if I needed to charge it during a mow, it charges from low to full in a short time. In short: I love this thing. Here's a quick list of my favorite things about the mower: • Quick charging battery • Enough power to cut my whole lawn and propel itself as much as I need it to • The option to mulch, side-discharge, or bag grass clippings • Seven different cut height adjustment options • Two handle height adjustment options • Quiet operation (significantly less noisy than gas or plug-in electric) • Blade automatically speeds up when it needs to • Can be stored folded, upright in a small space Here's a couple things I think aren't as good as they could be: • Pictorial quick-start instructions aren't great, and it took me a minute to figure a few things out during setup (oh, you have to hold the power button *down* while pulling the start paddles back toward the handle!) • Self-propelled speed control is a little touchy, jumping from too slow to too fast unless you're careful Here's the long review: I'm a homeowner with many years of experience mowing my lawn. But I am by no means a "lawn guy," meaning I don't mind some weeds or dandelions, I don't water, and I maybe let the grass get a little too long before cutting in the spring. Part of that is due to climate: the Pacific Northwest has wet winters and springs that make the grass grow thick, and warm dry summers that turn everything brown by June. I have used both plug-in and gas powered mowers in the past couple years, and after spending some time with this Greenworks mower, I'm not going back. This mower means I can be ready to go as soon as the spring grass is dry enough for it. No more 100-foot extension cords or greasy, smelly gas-powered engines necessary. I probably still won't be a "lawn guy," but this Greenworks mower is so easy to use that I'll certainly be taking better care of my grass. Setting up this mower is pretty simple out of the box. You have to charge the battery, pick up the mower, push the top part of the handle into the main part and insert two bolts into two nuts. When the battery is charged, you push it down into the mower body until it clicks, adjust the cut height and handle height to your desired levels, then hold the power button while pulling the start paddles back toward the handle. You're off and mulching! If you prefer side discharge, you can easily hang the attachment on the side of the mower. If you prefer to bag the grass clippings, you can remove the mulching plug from the rear compartment and hang the bag on the back. The mower is easy to use, and propels itself well. When in self-propelled mode, you can't reverse, so you have to release the self-propel paddles and roll the mower forward for a second before pulling the mower back toward yourself. It takes about half of one mow to get used to doing this. Adjusting the speed of the self-propel function is the one challenge here. It is a bit tricky to get your preferred speed 100% dialed in, as the switch that controls the speed can jump from too slow to too fast, especially when you're bumping along behind the mower already. The mower does very well over flat or bumpy terrain. I can cut my entire 1/6 acre lawn on about 2 out of 4 battery indicator lights, but I charge each time anyway to prevent from running it down too much. At the end of mowing, it is extremely easy for me to fold the handle down over the body, prop the mower up and put it away standing up. I love this feature as it allows me to fit the mower into my garage full of stuff. All-in-all, I'm extremely pleased with this mower. Highest recommendation!

Does an amazing job of mowing my yard. Especially since there are thick weeds and grass. Definitely can tell when the turbo kicks in. Unfortunately, I do have to charge the battery in order to finish the entire yard. Had I researched more I would have gotten a second battery.

Mower is quiet and battery lasted almost my whole yard (about 4000 sq ft). Been less than a year and already the battery and charger are not working. Tried all solutions suggested online and on the manufacturer pages but nothing works. Not willing to spend so much money to buy another charger or battery. Will definitely not be buying their products.

Hello KilV - Thank you for the feedback on the Greenworks 80V Lawn Mower. We love that you are getting the good cut from the unit, we're sorry to hear that you are not fully satisfied with your current run time. It is important to recognize that the run time depends on the load acting against the unit and fluctuates depending on the height setting, the terrain, grass height, type of grass, whether you are mulching, operator technique, using self propelled, etc. - there are so many factors to consider. The harder the unit must work, the quicker the battery charge will drain. Similar to how the gas in a vehicle will deplete quicker when driving at higher speeds or carrying more weight. One of the many benefits of the Greenworks 80V platform is the interchangeability of the batteries. If additional batteries are purchased in a combo pack (tool + battery) for another Greenworks 80V tool, you will have extra battery that would provide you with the additional run time. Alternatively, additional batteries can be purchased to extend the run time. This unit is compatible with 80V Greenworks batteries (only). If you need any help finding replacement 80V batteries we are here to help! Please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a Live agent or call us on Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution. GreenworksTools

    Don't buy a Greenworks mower!

We bought this 4/19/2023. Today it is 4-22-2024. The battery has stopped charging correctly. It will charge for 30 seconds and the red light starts flashing. This is the second Greenworks lawnmower we've purchased in the last 4 years. They do not last long. We hoped that upgrading to the $500 80 Volt mower would improve the longevity. I am waiting on hold at this moment with Greenworks phone customer service and their live chat simultaneously. Phone wait is now 35 minutes - chat is 15. I'm a Total Tech member, but it does not cover a Greenworks Mower. My suggestion - skip Greenworks products. Their customer service is the worst. When the mower runs, the 80-volt model works great. Unfortunately, either the batteries or the mowers themselves do not last much longer than a year or two.

Hello Billinmanart - We are sorry that you are having an issue with one of our products! With the spring season here, so is our busiest time of year which unfortunately means increased wait times. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. It is recommended to store the battery with a full charge, and if it is being stored for a period where no use is expected, to check on the charge every couple of months. If you notice the charge has dropped, we advise charging the battery back up to full before returning it to its safe storage place. Following these steps will ensure you receive the most of the battery life. We hope this tip helpful, we look forward to assisting you better. GreenworksTools

Hello VictorM - Thank you for choosing Greenworks for your lawn care needs! The first cut of the season does require more work. When grass length is varied, sparse in one area and denser in another area, and is above the ideal height of 4" the mower may lay the grass over and this can result in an uneven or uncut grass, please note, self-propelled mowers do use more battery than standard push mowers as more power is being demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels. One of the many benefits of the Greenworks 80V platform is the interchangeability of the batteries. If additional batteries are purchased in a combo pack (tool + battery) for another Greenworks 80V tool, you will have extra battery that would provide you with the additional run time. Hello Heftyhands. We are sorry to hear about the challenges you are experiencing while maneuvering your Greenworks self-propelled mower. This is certainly not the experience we want for our customers. Maneuverability can sometimes be affected by factors such as uneven terrain, cutting height, or wheel settings. We recommend checking that the drive wheels are free of debris and that the self-propelled speed setting is adjusted to a comfortable pace for your walking speed. Additionally, make sure the mower is on a level setting appropriate for your lawn conditions. For a visual walkthrough, we have attached a video. It provides a simple solution to common problems you might face. You can access it here (https://youtu.be/NUN1HvDgwrY).

If you continue to experience difficulty, our Customer Support Team would be happy to help troubleshoot further and explore available solutions. Please feel free to contact us via Live Chat at www.greenworkstools.com or call us directly at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). Having your unit nearby when you call can help speed up the process. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate the opportunity to make things right. GreenworksTools
