Posted .Hello BarbaraP - Thank you for taking the time to review our product. The self-propelled feature is not usable in reverse. They are designed to lock when pulled back to prevent damage to the drive belt. If you are using the self-propelled feature, the mower will attempt to move forward and will be difficult to move backwards. You would have to release the self-propelled lever to pull the mower backwards while still holding onto the start lever. We hope this helps.
No gas but will need a new battery

Upon further review from other owners this is a common issue. Not ideal to have to buy another battery after such a short period of time from purchasing

The 80V platform batteries have been tested over 1000 charges. While we only work with the highest quality products, nothing is always perfect but not to worry, Greenworks lithium-ion batteries are offered with a 4 year (homeowner) limited warranty. Please contact Greenworks by Chat on Greenworks Tools website or by phone 1-888-909-6757. Customer Care for a proper evaluation and replacement. All we ask that you have access to the too, battery, and charge so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Greenworks Warranty dodging all phone calls!!! Greenworks customer service number will not take my call. Waited on hold for hours. I left my number multiple times to have them call me back automatically and they never called back. Best Buy customer service just referred me back to Greenworks. Replacement battery is HALF the cost of a lawnmower!! Such a scam. If Best Buy can't vouch for reputable sellers, I wont be using Best Buy in the future.

Instead they will delay your package multiple times due issues with their inventory. And after these delays, even though they have not shipped your order, they refuse to change it to pick up or to cancel the order because their system cannot modify current orders. My advice, save yourself the headache and buy from another company.

Any issue I have is placed squarely with the battery. Unless you let it fully charge which can take up to two hours you won't get more than 20 minutes of mowing done. It was working very well when it was still somewhat cool outside 50-70 degrees, but as it has gotten hotter 80+ the battery is dying in about ten minutes even though it's gotten a full charge.

Refer to your operator's manual to check the correct temperature span for your lawn mower.
If the ambient temperature is too high the battery can get overheated, and you will not be able to run the product correctly and safely. Also, high temperatures may damage the battery. The recommended ambient temperature range: Item Temperature Mower storage temperature range 32°F (0°C) - 113°F (45°C) Mower operation temperature range 32°F (0°C) - 113°F (45°C) Battery charging temperature range 39°F (4°C) - 104°F (40°C) Charger operation temperature range 39°F (4°C) - 104°F (40°C) Battery storage temperature range 32°F (0°C) - 113°F (45°C) Battery discharging temperature range 32°F (0°C) - 113°F (45°C).
