I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this mower. For the price and performance, I could have just bought a gas powered mower. 1. The battery (full charge) doesn't even get 1/3 of the way through a .33 acre lot. 2. The battery takes over 2 hours to charge to full. 3. The self propel motor is weak and barely moves it forward. 4. The original blades don't cut all the way through some basic grass/weeds growing. Having to stop and charge it multiple times to finish my lawn is the biggest issue. What should be a couple hour task, turns into an all day chore due to this poor performance and charging the battery.

Hello Tsaxma - We read your review and wanted to thank you for both the detail and the feedback you have provided. Your honest input is appreciated as we are always looking for areas to further improve our products to ensure our customers are completely satisfied.
If you don’t let the grass, get too high, you’ll be in good shape as far as getting an even cut. However, if you’ve let the grass get long, you’ll likely need to make a few passes for it to look even. One of the ways it’s able to provide a consistent cut is its sensory technology. This technology senses how tough or high the grass is and adjusts the power output accordingly. So, if you’re going over a flat area with low grass, it won’t put out as much in the way of RPMs, and if it hits a tougher spot, it ramps up the power to keep up. If you want it to last a little bit longer, you can purchase an additional 80v battery. The good news is you don’t have to wait until they are completely depleted prior to charging them, their lithium-ion batteries do not have a memory effect and charging them when they’re not fully depleted won’t do any damage. You’ll know when the battery is charge because the light on the charger will turn from red to green.
      For Best Results users should:
      1) Mow when the grass is dry.
      2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on the newly cut grass.
      3) Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater.
      4) Consider mulching. To mulch, remove the bag and insert the mulch plug into the rear of the unit. This will leave the clippings on the lawn allowing the nutrients and nitrogen contained within them to return to the soil and allow the remaining grass to recycle them (always discharge the mulch towards a previously cut area to prevent your mower from bogging down).
      5) Always keep in mind what conditions your variety of grass prefers. If your grass prefers cooler climates, reduce the frequency with which you mow and increase the cutting height of your mower during hot seasons to compensate for the reduced growth rate these varieties may experience in this type of weather.
      5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. Self-propelled mowers do use more battery than standard push mowers as more power is being demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels.

We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to further investigate the issue you are experiencing; please contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934 or by chatbot through the customer contact page located on our website.. Our SmartCut Technology, feature is designed to help maximize the machine’s battery life and run-time. This feature also helps in adjusting the rotation speed of the blades, depending on the type of grass being worked on. Used it about 4 times for about 20 minutes each. Battery charger flashes red so there is a fault in the battery. Good luck getting help with Greenworks chatbot. It doesn't want to recognize the model number on anything (the mower, charger, battery). You end up going in circles. Meanwhile I don't have a mower to use and it will probably take at least a week to get a part unless I want to go buy a whole new battery to use in the mean time.

Hello EbM. We are sorry to hear your mower is shutting off frequently while mowing thick grass. This can happen when the mower is working harder than usual. We recommend raising the cutting height to reduce resistance.

Also, try taking smaller passes and mowing more slowly through dense or wet areas.

If the problem continues despite these steps, please contact our customer support via Live Chat at www.greenworkstools.com or call 1-855-345-3934 for further assistance. GreenworksTools

Works great WHEN it does. Bought in March, the blades came in dull. Overall works fine only when it does. By September the battery stopped working. So I couldn't even finish a season off without expenses on it. The charging station is blinking red when I try to charge it. I am not sure what to do here. Really disappointed and too costly.

It is battery-operated and takes a long time to charge, with drying and charging not working proportionally. It requires over 1 hour to charge but lasts only 45 minutes. For a yard size of 3,500 to 4500 square feet, it needs to be charged twice.

Hello RamakrishnaG. We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with the runtime and charge time you are getting from your Greenworks 80V SP mower.
This mower has a runtime of up to 33 minutes (with the included 4.0Ah battery) or up to 1/2 acre. with a battery recharge time of 40 minutes. The suggested 33 minute runtime is when the unit is used in optimal conditions. You mentioned 45 minutes runtime with 60 minutes charge time. These times would be considered normal. If the battery is placed on the charger right after being in use, the charger will false read it as a full charge. The battery needs to sit for ~10-20 minutes in a room temperature setting to cool down before being placed on the charger. Additionally, to reset the charger it just needs to be unplugged for ~10 minutes and then plugged back in. Trying this suggestion may improve the charge time. Runtime can very and are depending on a few factors, including but not limited to using self-propelled, self-propelled mowers do use more battery than standard push mowers as more power is being demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels. Grass texture and consistency. Cutting height and lawn size, when grass is not too thick and well maintained under 4 inches. For added runtime, we recommend purchasing an additional high-capacity batteries; Greenworks 80V batteries are interchangeable with 80V units, the higher the ampere-hour (AH) rating is on the battery, the longer the run time will be in comparison to a lower ampere-hour battery. We hope with these tips they will assist in a more enjoyable user experience. best buy price match guarantee is total SCAM. you would never get a price match for the same color , item and specifications line to line but Best Buy sets a unique model number which will never match with any retailer they listed on their policy, this way they can avoid the price match for the same product. I even asked the live agent to give a spec change - answer is NONE, asked him if he can find the same product with other retailer with same Model number which they listed on bestbuy.com , he checked and checked and told no products online with the model number becuase they can't find one as expected. do you research and buy on elsewhere avoid best buy at all costs.

This arrived in a torn-up box but it appeared to work fine. We used it to cut our lawn one time. During the second attempt to use it the self-propel feature would not engage. It would stop after about 10 seconds. It pushes like a tank and I bought this for my husband who has CHF and can't exert himself. Apparently, I'll be the one mowing the lawn because he can't use this. I hope Greenworks will compensate us, but that alone is a timely inconvenience. This was a 600-dollar waste.

Hello Cheesegrater. Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you are not fully satisfied with your current running time. It is important to recognize that the run time depends on the load acting against the unit and fluctuates depending on the height setting, the terrain, grass height, type of grass, whether you are mulching or using the self-propelled feature for most or all the mows. Self-propelled mowers do use more battery than standard push mowers as more power is demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels, operator technique, etc. - there are so many factors to consider. The harder the unit will work, the quicker the battery charge will drain. Like how the gas in a vehicle will deplete quicker when driving at higher speeds or carrying more weight. We would be happy to investigate whether your run time would be considered average; please start a Live Chat through the customer contact page located on our website (www.greenworkstools.com) or contact Greenworks at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). Hello SJGa - Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the experience you have encountered with this product. Here are a few troubleshooting suggestions to check out. 1) When the battery is inserted, the light should begin flashing green to indicate the battery is charging. If this light is not igniting or is flashing red, this may indicate an issue and we would be interested in hearing more about this. If the light simply goes solid red, try removing the battery and unplugging the charger for about 10 minutes and place them both indoors in a room temperature setting, as this might indicate the battery is at the incorrect temperature to be charged. 2) Ensure that the battery has been fully inserted into the charger. Sometimes this requires a firm push into place to make sure that it has been properly seated. 3) Try resetting the charger. To do this, simply unplug it for approximately 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try reinserting the battery. If the charger has been plugged in for extended periods of time, this can sometimes cause the charger to malfunction. Should you continue to experience a problem with the battery and charger, please contact us directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the battery and charger so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information. GreenworksTools
