This item was Awful! It is very sturdy; however upon putting it together (which was very easy!), the item did not work as expected. We had northern Michigan winter last week which dumped almost 2 feet of snow overnight. It worked good on the deck, but getting into the back yard, it kept stopping and would not start back up again. The snow was fluffy and should have worked fine, but the agitator is plastic and I think got just hung up. it was kept in the garage so I know it wasn't getting frozen. Also the throw distance was only about 12-15 ft very different than stated. Also I had a 2-4ft drift and started at the top tried to get to bottom but unit stopped altogether and would not start again. It was operating at full charge for only about 8 minutes so it could'nt have been the charge. I'm female and the weight was fine, but could have been easier to use if it self propelled.

Hello TraverseCityMI. We are sad to hear the 80V snow shovel did not meet your needs. Greenworks 80V shovel is ideal for driveway, sidewalks, patios, etc. with a 12" clearing path and 6" clearing depth. The distances at which snow is thrown is dependent on the type of snow. For example, light and fluffy snow will have a greater throwing distance in comparison to wet and heavy snowfalls. Deeper snow requires lifting (essentially same as a big transfer shovel). If the battery is stored and charged inside, it should work okay. If the temperature inside the battery falls below -17 then it would need to be brought back inside to warm but if you have taken a charged battery straight out of the house, into the snow thrower and clearing the snow then the ambient temperature inside the battery should remain inside the optimal range. We hope this information helpful. Should you have any further questions or warranty needs, contact us through Live Chat on www.greenworkstools.com or call Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution.

It's pretty powerful however the weight of the tool is too much for me. I tried once and it worked but I got very tired after the use. I would recommend it for someone who is strong enough.

Easy to assemble.
It was only used once to clean the sidewalk, which was a lot
easier than by hand with a shovel.

A bit heavy but easy to use. I love using it on my patio area, it does a great job removing the snow. Snow shovel needed for the wall edges.

This unit can really clear the snow! Two batteries are probably a must if you like to keep working without stopping to recharge.
Deal of the day came with a free xtra battery as a bonus. Very pleased so far, has only cleared one storm so far. A little heavy, as others noted .

So far I've used it for light and heavy 2-4 inch snowfalls and it does a great job. The 20 foot throw can actually be a little too much in tight spaces. The shovel is a little heavy and you need to be aware that the direction of throw is only forward.

Great on sidewalks. Will turf your lawn if trying to make paths for pets — heavy to hold level to prevent lawn damage

Takes the work out of lifting and throwing the snow with a shovel. Only complaint is it need some type of shield on front to direct the snow. Snow comes straight out the front and shoots 20 feet.

Don't know. I haven't had a chance to use it. I've been happy with my other greenworks equipment so I'm starting with a 5 start rating. If it's still a 5 start rating in the spring of 2026 or later, you can assume it's a solid 5 stars from me. If I encounter any issues I'll be back to edit my review.

On the plus side, the battery provides plenty of power. On the minus side, the device is heavy and throws the snow straight out so you can aim it off the side. Kind of useless for clearing a sidewalk if you don't want to cover your neighbor's sidewalk. Also be warned, Best Buy only gives you a 15 day return policy - my mistake for not noticing that. But they will happily give you 60 days if you pay them $50 a year.

Hello N405. Thank you for the feedback on Greenworks 80v 12" snow shovel. We are happy to hear you are pleased with the power the battery provides. Electric snow shovels come in a variety of styles and sizes, but they all work on the same basic principle. As you move the electric snow shovel forward, a plastic auger scoops up snow and flings it forward – usually about fifteen or twenty feet forward. This gets rid of the need to bend over and scoop up snow yourself, let alone throw it. To direct the angle at which an electric snow shovel throws snow, slightly tilt the shovel itself in the desired direction while operating it; essentially, by angling the shovel slightly left or right, you can control where the snow is ejected. A small tilt is usually enough to redirect the snow slightly to the side you want. Important considerations are the snow consistency and terrain. Snow consistency, different types of snow (powdery vs. wet) can affect how far it throws, so adjust your technique accordingly. Terrain, uneven surfaces might impact the throwing distance, so be mindful of your path. We hope these tips help provide a better user experience. Should you have any further questions or warranty needs, contact us through Live Chat on www.greenworkstools.com or call Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline 1-855-345-3934.So, our experts can discuss your experience!

Pros: Throws light to moderately heavy snow a good distance
Cons: Snow is not thrown in any particular direction, just sort of sprays everywhere.
As other comments have mentioned, it’s heavier and more cumbersome than it should be
