[Employee of bestbuy] Was able to cut my grass that was 4ft tall, had no issues and loved the product. Battery is great, lasted about 30/ 40 min, took a break while it charged and then went at it again.

This replaces my years old Black & decker trimmer. That tool definitely did a fine job, but this is next level. You'll pay for the premium power and performance, but at least it uses the same 80v battery that my blower and mower use.

I have been using the greenworks line of electric yard products for a few years now and have been very happy with them. My original trimmer has started to not be as powerful so when I saw this one came out I figured it was time to upgrade. Overall the size of this one is slightly larger than my older one but the weight of it isn't significantly heavier. One thing I do like about this one is that it's the 80V battery versus the 40V of my previous one which allows me to also use the battery from the mower with this and vice versa. The battery charges quickly and the included charger also takes up less space because it charges the battery vertically. It fits into the edger and gives it a good balance and also had enough juice the power my lawn mower to complete most of my smaller yard after I had gone around and done the trimming. The only real thing I don't like about it is how much of the grass and dirt it kicks back onto my legs compared to my other tremor. I'm not sure if it's just the design or what but it seems to kick a lot more grass and dirt onto my legs while I'm using it. Pros - Uses the 80V battery for more power and longer uses between charges - Lightweight imbalanced for comfort while trimming larger yards - Newly designed spool allows for easy reloading of cord when you run out Cons - Larger spool design compared to my other one doesn't cut as close to the ground sometimes as I would like - Kicks more grass and dirt onto my legs than my previous trimmer Overall I'm very happy with this trimmer outside of the fact that I just get a lot dirtier using it. It's balanced and comes with the battery and charger which I can now also use with my edger and lawn mower that also use the 80V battery.

Appreciate the power and run time this gives me and it is surprisingly light weight for such a big trimmer. I put a 4.0ah battery in it and it seems to run even stronger. Don't like the large string guard but I'm sure I'll get used to it after a few uses. Would recommend this trimmer to just about anyone.

Great for those hard to reach spots you can't get with a lawn mower, and for really trimming stuff up nicely. Best thing about it is the 80V battery and charger, which also works with my other greenworks 80V lawnmower and charger that I already owned. Because this runs on battery I can get as far as I want from my home as opposed to a plug in electric model that always kept me on a leash once I got further away from an outlet. I do wish this did however come with a shoulder strap, it does not. Everything else, including the weight, is very good, lighter than a previous plugin model I had from a different manufacturer and easier to work with. Setup is pretty quick out of the box, just a few steps with included tools for putting it together. Trimming just got a little easier on our property on harder to reach areas. The motor is brushless and is pretty powerful, it feels like it cuts back a bit easier than my other wired power model (a different brand) and because it has variable speed, you can lower the speed down for easier to cut areas to save on battery life if you are trying to work on a larger property. At full speed though it gets through stuff really easily considering this thing is running on a rechargeable battery.

I’m never turning back to gas again. This Greenworks 80V is not just a trimmer—it’s my rebellion against fumes, carburetors, and pull cords. With my old 150 cc beast, my arms were toast after 10 minutes. Now? I’m trimming an acre while singing—at make-your-neighbors-ask-if-it’s-electric levels. Why I dig it: Instant start with no stank, cordless convenience like a dream, and trimming power that laughs in the face of thorny briars. The Load N’ Go reload is slick—under a minute—so I barely break stride. Plus, my shoulder strap is basically a massage therapist for my deltoids. Battery life? One juice had me buzzing through ¼ acre—which is plenty when I’ve got more Greenworks gear ready to drop in. Heads-up: It's heavier than a feather, but the strap and balance save the day. Refilling the spool isn’t the easiest—takes patience—but man, once rolling, it performs. Light to medium work is a breeze. Heavy brush might push it, but I’ll just bring a spare battery and keep at it. If you’re ready to leave gas behind, go Greenworks and stay bold.

Works great, no more mixing gas, no more yanking to start, no more noise or dragging exextension cords around. Flip the start easy load and line feed. I highly recommend this trimmer.

Only have used a few times. It does work well for what I am doing. However, I was wanting to also use to to edge my driveway, but every time I turn it a certain way the line messes up and I have to reline it. Not sure if it is me or the product. Either way, I like the long battery life and it is lighter which is a plus for me.

Hello DLCH. Thank you for sharing your experience with the Greenworks 80V 17" Brushless String Trimmer. We are glad to hear that you are enjoying the long battery life and lightweight design! Regarding the line issues while edging, that can sometimes happen depending on the angle of use or the type of edging being done. As this is a fixed head string trimmer the operator must manually angle the unit during operation for use as an edger. Adjust your grip so the head is tilted by 90 degrees, and the string now spins along the vertical axis. The unit will now function as an edger. We hope you will find this information useful. Easy to assemble, battery lasts long, and it is sturdy and not heavy

This arrived boxed well and safely. All parts were wrapped in plastic for protection. Assembly is a piece of cake. The two piece shaft snaps together securely with a spring loaded tab, and then tightening the lock clamp. The construction is excellent and quite sturdy. The motor housing is metal, the shaft and clamp for shaft coupling is also metal. The battery charger charges the battery quickly. From 20% to full in a little under one hour. Although a little heavy, this seems fairly well balanced with the battery installed. There is a swivel ring where you can attach a shoulder strap. When it's time to load string, it is a simple process of feeding through the hub, and winding it in. Spool replacement is also simple and straightforward. The trimmer motor – which is brushless - has quite a lot of power,. It is variable speed, however, can spin up to a very high speed. It is claimed to have the equivalent power of a 30cc gas powered trimmer. Makes short work of trimming. The battery is 80 volt / 2 amp hour, and can last for longer trim jobs – depending, of course, on how dense your area, speed etc. Overall, a very nice trimmer, and the perfect way to get away from the messy gas/oil trimmers. Highly recommended...

First off, I love the fact that I don’t smell like fuel when I’m finished trimming the yard. The instructions are easy to follow for assembly and refilling the string. The battery lasts longer on a lower speed, but I needed more power for the area I was in. Even cut through briars and honeysuckle no problem. I’ve used it twice so far and love it. Battery change and charging is also super easy. Glad I made the purchase

Easy to use and light weight and battery last long time

First day of use. I’m a single woman in her mid-50’s. I am utterly lacking in upper body strength. I hate doing yard maintenance. Due to these things im likely to judge a tool like this pretty harshly. I purchased this trimmer because it was very highly rated for battery endurance and power of its motor, AND it weighed far less than a gas powered one of similar power. I still raised an eyebrow at the claim of one charge cutting 1.2 miles, but figured if I bought a second battery I could complete my task with minimal cursing. So far, i have trimmed the entirety of my very weedy 500 sq ft (approx) backyard and i have only used 50% of the battery. (The fact that you can check the level while it is installed is a plus). Im actually going to do a bit of work on my front yard because 1) I have plenty of charge and 2) im not exhausted yet. While this trimmer is not super lightweight for me, its not terrible and the weighty part is close to your body so im not throwing out my back. So far, two thimbs up. The one thing they could improve upon is instructions for advancing the string and putting a new reel on. They are definitely assuming you have used one before. I consulted the collective wisdom of YouTube and Bob’s your uncle…

Got tired of trying to get my gas operated to start. So I bought this to try, very impressed with the power it has. I have about 2 acres with plenty of objects to trim around and the battery is able to handle it.

Surprised me on the power of this string trimmer. I like the dual speed control and the fact that the battery last as long as I need it to. I generally don't use the trimmer during winter, and my old gas trimmer was a pain to get going each sprint.

Used three times happy with its performance and weight for basic trimming around the yard. We have other Greenworks stuff so interchangeable battery a plus.

The trimmer works so well and clean. I use to have to mix gas for so many years and now put in the battery and go!!

This product is easy to use, assemble and powerful. I like that it is also battery operated and that the rechargeable battery has a decent life.
