I washed it in warm water and then seasoned it when we got it. It stays on the stove top all the time, which causes it to get dirty from other cooking happening on the stove, and you end up needing to clean it up a lot as a result. I wipe it down good after each use, and then get a paper towel with some oil and wipe it again before it cools. It becomes really very nonstick pretty fast, but I have to cook with oil or butter, and that means I always finish every use with a good scrape and a wipe down with a re-application of oil. Requires regular car but it is nice to have ready to go any time and our kids use it a lot now (teens)

Posted .Hello- Thank you for taking the time to share your review. This is a great griddle that fits securely across two burners on select gas cooktops including GE JGP5036SLSS and Cafe model CGP9536SLSS, and Profile PGP7036. The cast iron absorbs and distributes heat evenly for perfectly seared meats and tender-crisp vegetables. ~You're right! Seasoning is important. To clean your griddle:
~Rinse with hot water, scrub with a sponge and towel dry.
~After each use, apply a very thin layer of oil to the surface to maintain the seasoning.
~Do not use abrasive materials (such as steel wool) or harsh detergents to clean your griddle.
Please note that pooled water on your griddle or letting the griddle air dry can cause it to rust. Remember to towel dry and maintain proper seasoning.
If your griddle does rust:
~Remove the rust with steel wool.
~Re-season the area or the entire griddle with the method below.
Re-seasoning Instructions:
1. Clean the surface of the griddle by removing as much of the seasoning as possible.
2. Heat your oven to 350F.
3. Coat the griddle with a thin layer of oil and place it in the oven for one hour.
4. Allow the griddle to cool and repeat as necessary to restore the seasoning.

All they had to do was mail it to me, but I had to go through all the gyrations as if it were being installed (set a date/time for the "appointment" Reminder calls Being asked to confirm that I'd be home the day before It's a griddle fer chrissakes!

I'm not pleased with Best Buy's delivery system sucks! Instead of mailing the griddle to me, it was set up for "installation"! There is no installation required for the delivery of a griddle.

I each use it gets worse and have only used 3 times.
