If you're like me and grew up watching Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad in the early 90s and had the toys then this is a MUST HAVE for you. Yea the American theme song and Tim Curry isn't here but it totally makes up for that in the production and story value. Let's be real here, so much was changed for the American version as well as the terrible plot they made up. For me the original is the best way to go and I must admit it looks SUPERB on Blu-ray.

This isn't the Super Human Samurai Syber Squad (sponsored by Compaq) you remember from the early 90's! There is no Matthew Lawrence, Tim Curry, or gratuitous Compaq product placement here! Only good old Tokusatsu! Oh, and the opening is almost guaranteed to get stuck in your head!

Ultraman’s Tokusatsu brother has finally arrived as his true self on bluray in the states! What came before SSSS.Gridman, Gridman has all the 90’s early cyber age charm and japanese toku wonder that captivated many while watching Power Rangers as kids!

I haven’t actually finished the show yet, but I can tell you right now that the series itself deserves at least a 4-star rating. It’s colorful and fun and silly in all the right ways so far. My problem lies with the set itself. I’m not expecting Final Fantasy XIV-level translation flair for a budget release, but these are the worst subtitles I’ve ever seen for a non-bootleg Blu Ray. Mill Creek’s translations for Ultraman were never this bad, so I don’t know what went wrong. If you can get that or understand Japanese enough to watch without subtitles, I’d say it’s worth it. Otherwise, think twice before picking it up.

So far the show is pretty good, if you loved Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, then you’ll enjoy this. The only thing missing from this is the awesomeness of Tim Curry.

The one of the best and unique Tokusatsu shows from Tsuburaya during the 90's. The practical effects were ahead of its time.

As a fan of super human samurai syber squad I was glad to get the japanese original. Great for people who liked SSSS Gridman, and SSSS Dynazenon.

Set is fantastic, images are clear and great audio.

Good picture quality. The translations are decent. Be warned that subtitles only appear in the actual episodes. No subtitles in the opening credits, end credits or next episode previews. Comes with a nice booklet.
