Timothy Treadwell has to be one of the craziest and yet most interesting people I've ever seen. His story is sad, but there is much humor and beauty to be found in his footage. If you like documentaries, be sure to check this out.

this is my favorite documentary ever and among my favorite movies of all time. the subject of the movie, a man named timothy treadwell, lived with and among bears and foxes in the katmai national park in alaska. he did this for 13 seasons during which he filmed over 100 hours of footage of bears, his interaction with bears, and just bears being bears. there is also footage of him with his fox friends. for some reason, when you watch the movie, treadwell sucks you right in. there is something about him that draws the viewer to continue watching with confusion but yet awe at the gorgeous animals and the incredible view he had in the "grizzly maze". i personally think the guy was a little off somehow, but no matter he remains genuine and truly committed to the bears he felt he came to know and become friends with. of course as everyone knows, his 13th season, he took a woman with him on his expedition as he called them. after leaving the grizzly maze for some reason he made the fatal decision to return and check on his bear friends as he often worried about the food available to the bears and other things sometimes intervening in natures natural process. upon returning to the area he normally camped, he encountered bears unfirmiliar to him and they killed and ate him and his girlfriend. what happened was tragic and terrible, but the still photography and the hundreds of hours of film left behind a rich legacy to treadwell and his passion for his beloved bears. i highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves nature and well, anyone who loves animals. again the scenery and the animals he filmed are incredible. i give it five stars for sure. something different. i dont recommend it for smaller children but my kids loved it too. you can also catch some of his footage on the show grizzly man diaries on friday nights on animal planet. if you like the show, you will love the movie.
