This new iteration is a welcome change for these types of plastic instrument games . Unlike Rock Band who seems to have taken the easy way out to release its latest iteration the developers of DJ Hero seemed to step up their game providing both an instrument that would challenge even veteran plastiq rockers as well as the new folk alike . The Guitar hero T.V idea is a great one on a lot of levels . But a miss in some key areas . I have never played so many guitar hero songs (or rock band for that matter) . Providing an MTV like experience where we jump in jump out of a persistent ever evolving (they promise) playlist presented in a way that appeals directly to my 80s youth . All of this is great when its firing on all cylinders ... When it works. Playing during opening week I found that , for me , the ability to connect to this server was spotty at best . Sometimes going days with a vague Dolomite error that I had to go out of my way as a user to research online what the possible meaning was . Not very user friendly ... not at all. But when it is working it is truly a blast and a great new direction for the series . YES you can no longer own a track to play when you want to BUT you earn tokens as you play and they stack up quickly . These tokens can be redeemed to play any specific song in their play library which consists of over 200 songs at the moment and they promise will expand quickly . This makes it a harder task to play these jams on repeat and truly master them at the hardest difficulty but the trade off is that you don't have to shell out 2.00 per song just to "own" it . There are some issues with the latest plastiq band in a box iterations from both developers but I feel as though Guitar hero has taken the most risks and has in turn reaped the greatest rewards as far as a fun experience

I have always been a huge GH fan. So when I found out Guitar Hero Live was coming out, I pre-ordered immediately. The game is great, tons of songs and tons of new features. Including being able to play along with actual music videos. Nice touch. The only complaint I have is the guitar. The buttons are completely different than any previous guitar hero guitars. No more colors, the buttons are black and white and are above one another. Takes a lot to get used to.

I was hesitant to jump back in to the musician games, considering how quickly the trend phased out a few years ago. Seeing the song list and cleaner guitar setup ended up swaying my mind. The new version is an absolute blast. They made the experience more fun with having you play alongside real bands in front of real fans. As mentioned, the guitar controller is quite intuitive and even more fun to play compared to previous versions.

There's music for everyone. I also like how the crowds are dynamic and react to your performance. Like the idea of actual people instead of animated characters like previous Guitar Hero games. GHTV TV station is a great music video station that changes it's lineup every hour. There's 5 difficulty settings to choose from, and the 6 key guitar is fun for the advanced sets, and only need to use 3 for beginner difficulty.

I'm a long time Guitar Hero player and the new format is very different and pretty darn cool. Buy the game and you won't really have to lay out anymore cash for the forseeable future. The current Song Catalog in GHTV is huge and it's expected to get almost 50% larger in just the next few months! The new button layout is very very different than the straight line 5 buttons but I'm starting to get the hang of it in just a few days. Again, if you're on the fence for this product, as it stands now, buy the game and you don't have to pay anything more (currently) to play anything in the game. You might have to do some small grinding, but no cash.

Being a guitar hero vet from the previous games and loving it I was skeptical that they changed the design of the guitar. It is fresh new feeling and I do enjoy it. Everyone who is interested in a new game that has rhythm and not the same old rehash should try this. I would personally get the warranty cause these guitars have a history of conking out and you get like 2 years for 10$ a fair deal I say

Guitar Hero franchise is keeping it fresh by changing up the guitar a little. Instead of 5 keys in a line on the guitar neck to play with, this new guitar has 3 halve buttons on bottom and 3 halve buttons on top, and sometimes you have to press top and bottom at the same time (phew), so its difficult in a different way now. The whole Guitar Hero Live thing is also pretty cool. The crowd and band at your shows are no longer digital characters but real live performers and fans, how cool? And they react in Real - time to your performance in the game. Now I would like to see some DLC for new songs.

At first I was skeptical about guitar hero lives content and new controller layout, but must say the new buttons make the game fun and fresh. It has an alright track list for offline mode but where it's at is gh tv, you get to play off of music videos w a ton of good songs and the genres that play depend on the hour but never the less great. It's definitely worth checking out

Let's start by saying This game is fun. That is until you realize before you know it your done the single player with only a little over 40 tracks. The guitar hero tv now is really a cool idea keep in mind you need internet to play this mode which is nice because if you want you just let the game idol you can just listen and watch old school music videos. All and all I'm just a casual gamer it' has a deep learning curve from past entry's. It's a different but needed take on the series hopefully the changes can be enough to keep gamers interested enough because I lost interest after 2 weeks just because the song choices that were on the disk and the harder learning curve. now it's just a game to play when you have company. If your a fan of let's say guitar hero 3 this will make you really miss that game. I don't regret buying this game it's fun in short burst if your part of the gamers club take avantege of the discount or wait till its on sale The game is worth $69.99 but not the $100 price tag.

I am a long time Guitar Hero and Rock Band fan. I have played them since the very beginning and have mastered expert modes on all instruments, especially guitar. That being said, I was very unsure of what to think of Guitar Hero Live. Before release, I was unhappy with the soundtrack (I'm a classic rock and metal guy, too much modern music on this one for my taste) and the removal of pinky finger buttons. Upon playing it though, I was surprised by how much I enjoy it. The addition of a second row of buttons, replicating 2 strings on a guitar, have given me something new and complex to master. The POV, real band/crowd view of the game is gimmicky, sure, but hilarious to watch when band mates give you the stink eye for messing up. Best of all, GHTV provides an endless string of songs to play along with their music videos (welcome back, MTV, it's been too long!) Overall, I am happy with the game. Despite the poor tracklist (excluding songs on GHTV), I would recommend that any veteran GH/RB player give this a shot if they're looking for a new challenge. For newcomers or casual players, I would recommend you try a demo before buying, as you may find the new guitar too complicated and/or the setlist lacking. 4/5 stars.

This takes a little getting used to if you are familiar with older versions and the rock band games .... Overall it appears to have an easier level of game play once you get past the different controls and the set list is OK. Haven't done much online exploration for add ons. So...its different but still fun especially with someone singing along.

This new Guitar Hero is vastly improved over what they were offering in recent years before they stopped making these games. GHTV is a very refreshing experience compared to conventional DLC. It feels like an MTV channel that keeps playing where you can pick up and play whenever you wish. You can spend money to buy plays of specific songs, but it's entirely unnecessary. The song selection is excellent, and they continue to add new songs to it. The regular GH Live campaign is enjoyable also, but I think GHTV is the star of the show.

Fun game, controls feel good and responsive with the onscreen visuals. Like the whole you're in the concert feel (first-person perspective). I also dig the new two row guitar, though it is challenging to adapt to after getting used to a single row for so long. Makes it easier for people to learn. One complaint is that it is sometimes tough to hear your instrument in the track, be nice if there was some kind of monitor or something. Also wish you could play bass tracks cause some of the songs have a great groove.

We bought this for our 3 boys (ages 7, 8, and 9) for Christmas this past year, and I think my husband and I had just as much, if not MORE, fun then them. The audience is interactive, so the better you do, the more they cheer. The worse you do... well they throw toilet paper, boo you, even your band mates get in on the bashing if you do terrible enough. It's good, clean fun. (AND it's TOTALLY a game that I, a 34 year old mom, actually has a fair chance at winning! And I did! I schooled 'em all! Lol!)

Guitar Hero Live is a fun, interactive musical experience that starts off very easily, but can quickly turn to be very difficult when the difficulty is turned up, even a little bit. Definitely a larger learning curve than the previous games in the series, however, it is well worth the effort to learn the new system.

I purchased the game for my wife and have played it a few times. There is a learning curve coming from some of the older releases, most notably the addition of extra keys on the guitar. In the end we will get the value we expected from this game as it was somewhat of an impulse holiday promotion purchase.
