It's guitar hero. You know what you're getting yourself into. Some songs are great. Some songs you play just to get through the game. The storyline is cheesy but whatever, I'm not here for a storyline. I want to shred my ace off. Which you do toward the end. I won't give too much away, but I will say my skills have majorly improved due to this game. Which has made songs I used to hate, like metal songs, really fun to play. With being able to download songs now, buying a full game if you already own one for PS3 depends on if you like more than 30% of the songs on the playlist. Otherwise, just buy the songs you like from the store. But as far as first guitar hero games go, nothing beats Guitar Hero 2. CONCLUSION: First guitar hero game, yeah, get it. Already own: Skip and purchase songs you like from store.

Best GH in a LONG time

This guitar hero attempts to go back to it's roots in GH 1, 2 & 3 and does well but falls short in several areas. I enjoyed the quest mode, narrated by Gene Simmons (added bonus!) and the "warrior" powers which basically allow you to complete very hard songs that you couldn't before. As usual, there are several songs you only play to get to the end and then there are the true metal songs (Indians, Chemical Warfare, Avenged Sevenfold, Megadeth!) I was pleased to see GH opening up more to Slayer and Chemical Warfare was a perfect choice. The trophies, well lets say you'll never plat this game unless you find 3 other players that play Expert 5 stars. Expect to get around 50% of the trophies. Guitar Hero 2 is still the greatest but this one does make in the top 5 of games. Next step, GUITAR HERO SLAYER!!!

    Excellent for GH Experts

This game is by far the best of the latest GH releases. It goes back to the mechanics of the first three Guitar Heros. I would suggest that beginners do NOT play this game, this one in specific is meant to cramp the fingers of the people who don't know how to play. It has one of the best engines in Guitar Hero, for all instruments. It also has high online traffic, but you may need to be patient to play a competitive game. I say this game is most fun for players who are at least on Hard difficulty.
