I like Richard Gere as the roles he plays are dramatic and usually the movie is a decent film. Although time does not permit me to follow Richard Gere films closely it just so happened this popped out on a web site I visit to see what is coming out. I placed an order for it on a movie subscription site and there is still as of today a very long wait for this movie..so I purchased it. I enjoyed the loyalty and devotion that Akita had toward it's master and the movie showed he got it as a pup which is when you really need to start training this dog which is used for hunting in Japan. They are loyal and are tolerant of other family members as I can attest to when I visited my Uncles farm in Japan his dog is an Akita and he was extremely nervous when I went to play with the dog as it can nip unknowns. Compared to the Japanese version the gist of the story is the same and for most Americans and for most people who love dogs this is a must see, waiting for Marley and Me 2. Sorry if went off base but been getting review this movie couple times on my e-mail so final conclusion: I liked this movie.

I saw this movie on television the first time. I had never heard of it. It was so good that I had to track it down. I bought 3 as Christmas presents. Those 3 have gotten shared with others who have also loved the movie. It's a must see for any dog owner. Anyone that has a man's best friend. FANTASTIC!! I put a good rating for the extras because I haven't gotten to see them yet. One of the discs (my own copy) was damaged so I had to get a refund for it. Haven't replaced it yet.

This movie is an absolute must for your DVD collection! The whole cast is amazing, especially the dogs who portray Hachi. I cried non-stop towards the end, and you'll finally realize the true meaning of LOYALTY and "man's best friend." It's based on the true story of the real Hachiko, but based in modern day America; makes you wonder how a dog can be so dedicated and loyal. LOVE IT!

It shows with tenderness the special bond that a dog developed to its master. It talks about loyalty for the ones we love (from the dog´s side). Great scenery and acting. I think Richard Gere and the dog were amazing! If you like dogs, this movie is a must. I just warn you that some tears might come out of your eyes.... Enjoy the movie!!

This is the best teaching love for kids to love and value of the love of animal, demostrate that the also have a heart.

I bought this movie on a whim for my mother, just for fun because she loves her dog. She absolutely loved it and wants to watch it again. The story is very touching and anyone who has ever had a bond with their dog will be able to relate.

I have 4 kids under age 9. We saw a trailer for this movie on another movie that we had and the kids wanted to see it. We had just gotten a new puppy, so they loved the loyalty of the dog and the movie in general.

This movie is one of the best I've seen. I recommend it to everyone and great for the whole family.

Don't be fooled by the G rating, this movie isn't just for little kids. More than likely, you will have tears in your eyes by the end. I certainly did. Another amazing find in the $7.99 bin!

The dog was great. And me and my mom think this is great movie. Heat breaking.And a cast of great people. Good price for this movie. I even got i for my sister.
