I picked this guitar up on sale and made the decision based on reputation from other musicians and also because I was interested in a guitar like a Les Paul but just wasn't willing to spend top dollar for it. I was pleasantly surprised with this Hagstrom, it has '58 humbuckers w/3 way selector and an added tone filter. It also comes with a bound mahogany fret board and bound mahogany body, plus the neck is set. The mahogany body is a carved top too, all in all really decent bang for you buck. Something slightly unique is the lacquer or finish on the fret board. It gives if a different feel and you'll either dig it or hate it. Overall a really great instrument and super value. Gives some really good tone and comes in about half the cost of a competing Les Paul.

This guitar sounds great, much better than Epiphone Les Pauls. Has extra toggle switch that changes the sound from each pick-up. It's hard to explain but depending on the combination it gives much more crunch or much cleaner, creamy sounds. I had to get the switches replaced though because they are brittle and broke off with just regular use.
