But unfortunately I had to return it. It started making a random screeching sound when drying my clothes.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.While it is a bit early to make an informed judgement, since we've had the dryer a short time, we are pleased with its performance, thus far. We replaced an ASKO dryer that had served us very well for more than 20 years. But limited availability (and inflated price) of a new ASKO made the Haier an acceptable alternative. It performs well thus far. Only time will tell about longevity.

Manufacturer Defect

When I received the dryer and installed it, there was a loud thumping banging noise on the right side of the dryer. I returned it. I bought an open box one from Best Buy and installed it, same banging noise. I returned it. I bought a brand new one from Best Buy and installed it, same banging noise. I returned it and bought a new Haier dryer (same dimensions as the GE dryer since GE is now owned by Haier, a Chinese manufacturer). The Haier dryer had the same banging noise. I'm going to try one more Haier dryer and if that doesn't work, I'm giving up. The interesting thing is all the dryers I received showed an indentation on the right side of the dryer (straight out from the box). So frustrating because the GE washer I got seemed to work OK so far but it's too late to return it. I'll probably have to buy a different dryer brand which won't be compatible with the GE washer so I'll have to figure how to stack them.

We can only recommend stacking this dryer with the appropriate washer and stacking kit. This is how we've tested and approved the unit for that style of installation.
