It's not the best film from the Coen brothers, but it's still a delight with the usual great performances from the cast, with Channing Tatum and Tilda Swinton being highlights.
Though not a surprise, it's still disappointing that there aren't many substantial extra features on the Blu-ray.

Hail Caesar! Follows a day in the life of Eddie Mannix, a Hollywood fixer for Capitol Pictures in the 1950s, who cleans up and solves problems for big names and stars in the industry. But when studio star Baird Whitlock disappears, Mannix has to deal with more than just the fix.

Hail, Ceasar!, is a great spectacle of a film. The Coen Brothers never seem to disappoint. Ceasar is full of mystery and intrigue and always keeps you guessing. The cinematography is amazing; along with a stellar cast! It's a must watch film for any fan of the directors!

This movie had a lot of funny twists and turns to keep you interested and entertained. The casting was close to perfect and the dialogue did not completely insult your intelligence, This is certainly worth watching over popcorn and some libations of an alcohol content.

Hail Caesar! may not be as epic as No Country For Old Men, Miller's Crossing or True Grit, but that doesn't mean it should be ignored. A loving, hilarious tribute to the bygone days of Hollywood, it features a strong cast led by Josh Brolin and a sprightly script.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It skewers Hollywood of the 1950's with thinly veiled parodies of true events and real people. Good recreations of style of movies of the time. If your a movie buff you've got to have this. 4 stars because it's a little uneven.

A little bit different from the usual Coen brothers' films but it's right on at looking at 1950's Hollywood and the unsettling atmosphere of the McCarthy era.
Great performances from each cast member and beautiful to look at and listen to.

I am a fan of Coen brothers movies and this one did not disappoint. It is a delightful farce poking fun at the movie gimmicks of the 1930's and 1940's. In my opinion it is not the best of the Coen movies but it is a lark. I plan to watch it again.

Nice film by the Coen brothers. A "light" Coen by their standards, made with love. As usual, any Coen film is worth your time, be it a classic or no classic (like this one). Good casting, good characters, interesting story, many Coen touches.

In seeing the previews for this movie, I was (pleasantly) surprised by the actual movie. Lots of fun and many surprises. Everyone does a good job of acting and good story. Interesting seeing a few days in the life of a movie trouble-shooter.

I don't know how to begin to explain Hail, Casear! unless you are familiar with the style and sense of humor of the film's writers/directors, The Coen Brothers. They have a strange one to be sure. The film's humor is very dry, scattered and allegorical. This is a film for a very specific audience, as it parodies Hollywood in the sixties, and communism. If your not aware of these things and how they are connected, I don't know how much you'll get out of it. Or even if you'll find it funny regardless. But if you know what your getting into with the film, it's sure to be a delight. If your not familiar, watch The Big Lebowski, and decide if you like the style or not.

We enjoyed Hail Caesar, but it was not as good as we thought it would be. It's an homage to old Hollywood, and it was fun seeing recreations of old-style Hollywood scenes, but the movie was not nearly as funny as suggested by the trailer, and lacked some of the depth of other Coen Brothers movies. I suppose it was a bit of a farce, but it wasn't quite farcical enough. By Coen Brothers standards, it was a light bit of fluff.

While it's a bit light on narrative, what is there is all an excuse to craft some beautifully shot scenes in the style of many classic movie genres. Especially great is the Channing Tatum tongue-in-cheek dance sequence.

Funny to see such satire of the early movie business. I could actually imagining a framework of this stuff happening. Of course the content is wry with a heavy touch of bizarre only tempered lightly with the mildly normal.

Although not their best film, I enjoyed this as much as I did O, Brother, and much more than The Ladykillers or Intolerable Cruelty. The Coen Brothers know how to craft an enjoyable and thoroughly entertaining film.

First off I love strange movies which usually means I like any and all of what the Cohen brothers make. Hail Caesar unfortunately is strange, but seemed to be more a series of skits than a real movie. There are some funny lines throughout however not enough to save it. When the movie finally ended I didn't even realize it since there was no plot. This is definately not a Raising Arizona level Cohen flick.

I actually really enjoyed this movie, not sure if it was the time period or the abundance of good actors/actresses, but not sure if I could really recommend it to a friend. I thought Brolin was entertaining and Alden Ehrenreich did pretty well, but nobody else stood out and the movie was kind of slow. If this movie sounded interesting to you, you might enjoy it, but it won't surprise you.

The Coen brothers have done it again with a memorable film that pokes fun at their own business, movie making. With nods to films such as Ben Hur, this film portrays film making in the early fifties and the production design captures that time period perfectly. There are salutes to the water musicals featuring Esther Williams, dance numbers that recall the talents of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly, and the main character resembles Philip Marlowe (but in a different line of work). Stick around to see Channing Tatum sing and dance with a bunch of sailors...
