zombie played with fire but it worked

Ok - I totally denounced this film upon it's announcement. I went from thinking Zombie was a god (1000 Corpses, Rejects) to cursing him. Well... this movie was AWESOME! Aside from Carpenter's original, and let's face it, Halloween II (best sequel EVER), this is the most incredible, scary, Halloween film there is. It's got everything I and II have - storyline, atmosphere, incredible camera work, and brilliant lighting. The films that SHOULD be scorned are H20 and Resurrection. Those are pieces of trash that ignore the entire series in some sort of sick sense of self-entitlement to rewrite everything. While it seemed this would fall into the same, it absolutely DOES NOT

I'm a huge fan of the original Halloween movies so when rob zombie remade this classic 1978 film I was more than excited to see it. This has since became one of my favorite movies so I had to get it on bluray. If your a fan on the original this is a must see! The first half of the movie is a new and interesting take on the movie and the second half is pretty true to the original. Overall its a great buy and well worth the money.

i loved this movie compared to the older version. in my opinion the remake was better and the action was a little more brutal in the remake to make up for todays "lifestyle". the movie isnt really gorey but does focuse more on backstory of why micheal was a messed up kid, about half way through it goes to teh adult stage ( i think a little more than halfway through to be honest). all in all a great remake, looking forward to the sequel.

As most remakes don't normally deliver this definitely does I love how they show you Michael as a child and what he was resembling and the actor who plays adult Michael is a giant and very scary, its got loads of good killing scene, and action and a few jumpy bits. I wouldn't call it spine chilling but still really enjoyable. definitely recommend

I was very skeptical to initially hear of Rob Zombie remaking Carpenters masterpiece. You really can't top perfection....... BUT what Zombie did was completly diffrent. He was basically pitching to have the story to be retold but thru the eyes of The Boogeyman. He hit it out the park. The new Halloween is a very dark movie. Casting Taylor Mane as Meyers was genius. I would love to see Rob do a remake of II next and skip III and dive into IV.

Ok, I do have to come out and be honest off the bat, i'm a purist. Normally I don't like any of the remakes, especially in horror, because they usually are a mockery of the original. I will try to give merit where merit is due, and as one person said earlier, this is like alternate universe Michael, but... to be honest, Zombie has absoloutely no idea of what the essence of Michael Myers is. As far as slasher movies go, this is entertaining, there's a terrible plot filled with horrible stereotypes and decent executions. The lighting is ok, the blood and effects are done well, and there is the occasional creepiness, but all in all... this is not a true Halloween movie. I really hope this suffers the same fate as the first Hulk movie, a quiet fade into pop culture history. Michael completely breaks character more than once, and in a completely not Michael way, kills for the wrong reason, is freakishly tall, and wears his mask for the wrong reason. I mean, am I the only one that thinks it was scarier without a motive? That it was more terrifying to see him stalking his prey, and letting them know about it? Like I said this is entertaining, but this really is not the Michael Myers I grew up on. I really hope they never give Rob Zombie production money again... oh too late they announced Halloween 2, or H2 i think they're calling it...

I thought it was a good remake of halloween. I like how they changed some things around. I did not like part 2 I thought it was weird.

I am not one of those people who will ask why they made this film, or why they choose to explain why Michael became the way he was. I won't ask why those choose Rob Zombie. I understand the desire to make money and the need to try new things in a series as old as this. But i will ask why Rob Zombie thought this was going to work. Why he choose to remake as opposed to doing a sequel (he has completely re-"imagined" the back story and the events of Lauire Strode and her friends. It might just as well have been a sequel with flashbacks.) The pacing is poor, the direction is sloppy, the acting is embarassing and the script feels pieced together (though to be fair, there are so many versions of the movie it's hard to get a sense of what the actual movie is and what the extended, director and unrated version are (since many of them share some, but not all , of the same "deleted" scenes,) I'm glad it was made, because it brought attention the the dying series and gives hope there will be a next film (that will hopefully be better-- but i always hope for that and i am still waiting.) But really, Rob Zombie just does not know what to do behind the camera (or writing a script), though his intentions are good.
