Has cheating been reduced or eliminated?

Kind or ridiculous to rate a game which hasn't been released yet, but based on the Beta, it's pretty decent. Not sure if it's a function of the game more than the dependency on the network, but I hope whatever game Bungie releases in the Halo series such as Reach that the gameplay truly presents a level playing field amongst players and minimizes or elimates glitches, lagging, mods and other unfair advantages cheaters like to introduce in the game. A good example was Madden 11, where everyone has a fair chance of winning rather than someone mastering a certain way to score on a glitch play.

My only wish is that there could have been no end to the campaign. Excellent and captivating game. Excellent multiplayer. Sad this is likely the end.

I play Halo Reach around 1 hour every day!

I'd rate Halo Reach around 4 out of 5 stars. It took a little while to get used to the new weapons, but it just took some practice. I started playing Halo Reach around 1 hour a day and I quickly got into full swing. The good news is that a lot of the weapons are just like the Halo 3 weapons. For instance, on some maps you'll find the good old plasma pistol. You have to wait a while for it to charge up, then it releases a burst of plasma at once, and then there's refractory period before you can use your pistol again. Make sure you adjust your sensitivity or your pistol might fire when you don't want it to. One thing I noticed in Halo Reach around the same time as the pistol recharging issue is clench protection. This is a new feature which protects against clenching the butt of your gun too hard and firing off when you didn't mean to. This is important for certain maps in Halo Reach around grunts and other enemies. Overall, this game left me very satisfied. I highly recommend it! Now it's time for me to get back to playing! Where is my dvd of the game?? I know I left Halo Reach around here somewhere...

    HALO IS EPIC!!!

I've play all of the HALO Games since they came out and loved them ever since. By the look of things, this will be the best game of this year and maybe even next year in my opinion. Not only does the campaign look amazingly epic, the Multiplayer was epic in every way. Bungie has really gone all out for this one. 10000000/5

    More of the same

My thoughts on Reach can be distilled into the simple thought: it's more Halo. If you liked Halo 3, you'll love Reach. That's it. The game is the same: you're the only focus of the story, despite the fact that sometimes three other Spartans are with you (your online friends). You must do everything yourself, running and gunning in the best of Halo tradition. New this time are "armor abilities" like sprint (really?) or jetpack. These are neat at first, but you must find them in the field. You cannot select your desired loadout from the level start. If you die, you lose your cool ability and get the generic (and mostly useless) sprint. Bungie is still behind the times here, forcing you to use a few weapon types and not allowing much in the way of customization. The campaign still supports 4 player online co-op, though sadly Bungie didn't make it drop in/drop out. If your partner bails mid-game, he's out until you beat the level or restart it. There are few new modes to extend the life. Firefight is the new co-op mode, where you and up to three friends take on waves of enemies. You can customize this quite a bit, adding waves of varying aliens (Grunts, Brutes, Elites, etc), changing your weapon load out, vehicles, and so on. Forge returns too, allowing you a good amount of creative control over the map for building your own game types. There's no way to implement AI, so you're limited to the regular multiplayer modes (including Firefight). In these multiplayer modes you earn credits or "cR" to spend upgrading your armor. This is purely cosmetic, and doesn't affect game play in the least. I rate this game 3.5 out of 5. It's fine for more of the same, but it's beginning to get tiresome. The graphics are better than ever. The soundtrack is second to none. But in the end, it feels like I've done it all before.

    Reach For Halo

I'm not a real big Halo fan,but i had fun playing this title.Master Chief is no longer the main character. You play as a new recruit to the Noble Team,a six person squad, whose members specialize in key roles and wear customized gear.Planet reach, the main base for UNSC military operations and home to 700 million civilians,is under attack from the Covenant.Your mission is to assist the human resistance and prevent the Covenant from destroying Reach, but it happens anyway. The game is powered by a new graphics engine designed to incorporate large-scale battles in more open environments.Enemy AI has also changed from earlier games, relying more on dynamic actions instead of scripted routines. Each soldier's armor now offers different abilities, depending on the equipped enhancements.A jetpack allows you to fly, active camouflage makes you invisible to enemies, sprint lets you dash at high speeds, and armor lock makes you temporarily invulnerable at the expense of movement. These abilities play an important role in multiplayer modes.Multiplayer includes such past faves like "Team Slayer" and "King of the Hill" along with new options. In "Headhunter",you collect flaming skulls from defeated opponents and attempt to deposit the skulls in designated areas for points. If yo are killed before you reach the target are, your collected skulls will fall to the ground for other to retrieve."Invasion" features a series of three team-oriented skirmishes designed in a similar style to Bad Company's rush mode."Stockpile" is a variant on capture the flag, while "Generator Defense" pits three Spartans versus three Covenant Elites in a battle to defend or destroy generators. In addition, you can create custom scenarios with the Forge option, take in-game screenshots, earn credits to cosmetically enhance your soldier, and record video to study combat techniques or to share with the community. So if this is your first or fifth time playing a Halo game I say buy it.

The online for this game is excellent. If you are into first person shooters then you will love this game. Bungie did an excellent job with the online aspect. I also love that Bungie always takes care of their online comunity and if their is something wrong with their game then they will fix it as soon as they can. The campaign mode for this game was not so great. I would have liked for the game to be longer even for the normal mode. I think they rushed the game too much.

I've almost completed this on Heroic. Great story line, with only a couple complaints. 1. There are some minor display isues that have popped up, such as screen stutter. 2. Ai of commrades is still poor. I've gotten into vehicles, honked, and the AI still looks around like they are lost. I like the earning credits to purchase upgrades. Nothing is better than being allowed to customize your character. Once I finish the campaign, I will have to give multiplayer a go and see how it stands out.

    Halo Reach Matchmaking Eliminates Cheaters

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Halo Reach is supposed to be the new Halo. Upgraded Graphics will be awesome but will it really be better than Halo 3? If it has the same matchmaking glitches allowing for network manipulation due to host being centered on one person then I have to say NO! Since the beginning of halo network manipulation has been a huge issue and they have yet to tackle it. Problems with matchmaking: NETWORKING HOST SETUP = Fail People with bad host International lag DoS attacks from captured IP's kicking people offline Lag Switchers Host Bridgding allowing for Host to standby or host boot in game. All of these things are easy to do and are done constantly with no consequences. TRUE SKILL SYSTEM = Broken Allows boosters who EASILY lower their sigma by losing 100+ games on a new account and playing doubles with a buddy on his new account with 0 games and boosting to 50 in 17 games. The BOOSTERS are QUICKLY leveled way above their skill level so they go in and lose by playing terrible making the game less fun for those of us who are at our true skill level. The DERANKERS are the worst. Going in game shooting at teammates going purposely negative so they can lower their rank and sigma to either boost friends up or play easier games. This has no consequences. What are the PENALTIES FOR ALL OF THIS???? NOTHING besides an occasional ban for 2 weeks. I knew a guy who booted over 1000 people offline using a UDP PHP script and he got banned for 2 weeks and it was his SECOND OFFENSE!!!!! Pair sll of that with making weapons like the laser fire up to 6 times with 1 charge by rotating weapons, Teleportation glitches using beatdown and weapon swap simultaneously, and wall glitches allowing people to take 65% of normal damage while being in a corner. THIS STUFF NEEDS TO BE FIXED!!!!!!!!!!! Stop releasing a great game that gets ruined after 6 months by cheaters!!!!!

While I haven't finished the game, so far I'm impressed and feel the game deserves to be a part of the Halo series. For me 2 is still the best game, but Reach competes strongly with 3 for 2nd best and since it has the best graphics and most features I'd say it gets the nod. Worth $60? To Halo fans - certainly, tons to do here, to FPS fans in general - if you like less realistic gameplay, to COD/Battlefield fans - maybe not, or at least not at $60.
