There are so many things that could be said about Halo: Reach and its endless hours of entertaining content, so I think I'll start with its campaign. Now if your a hardcore Halo fan you should know that this story doesnt have a happy ending but its still a very good story. Without spoiling anything Halo: Reach takes place on the planet of... you guessed it Reach. It follows the story of Noble Team and they're protection of the planet. The game should take on average about 7 hours to complete but thats not all reach has to offer. There is also firefight mode where you and a few buddies can take on wave after wave of covenant (the main antagonist in reach). The game can be played alone but with a few friends is when Halo: Reach really shines. Forge mode returns from Halo 3 and is greatly expanded and improved, you can make entire full-scale maps ....of course thats if you have the patience and imagination to do so. Lastly theres the ever-popular online multiplayer which happens to be my favorite part of the experience. Controls are some of the best to be offered from any first person shooter around, and the action is fast and responsive... maybe a little too fast for seasoned halo veterans. With the inclusion of armor abilities the action is much quicker-paced there are new options in combat such as sprinting and jetpacking just to name a couple. oh i could ramble about Halo: Reach all day but just know its the most bang for your buck, particularly if you are a dedicated online player.

THE Halo game

Ok, this game is so awesome that i'll divide the review in the different parts. Only that way can i express its greatness in easy words:
Excitement: The original Halo was great because of the many different ways to achieve your goal. In Reach, let's just say you can choose between jetpacking above an enemy and shower them with everything you want (from bullets to lasers), creating a decoy of yourself to draw them out and fool them, or turning invisible and sneaking behind them to do you know what.
Challenge: It is just the amount of difficult that you want it to be. Your have easy mode if you just want to look at the story, normal for a bit of challenging, heroic and legendary, the real challenge. And in levels that have vehicles, you can make it extra challenging by letting an AI drive.
Graphics: It turned even sweeter than it was before. The campaign has some motion effects that allow the game to see even more real, like a blur when you look around quickly, extra lights and poligons everywhere. In the multiplayer they didn't include them so much to improve the gameplay and maintain it as true as before.
Length: Already beat the campaign? now beat it on heroic. Done that too? then on Legendary. Already did? connect to xbox live and aim to the onyx division. Now THAT might take you some time. Or you can keep the lone wolf stuff and try to win a firefight by yourself.
Overall: Everyone that thought sometime that halo was a good game will say that this is the best Halo ever. Everyone that didn't think so will say it anyway!

Much-needed injection of real Halo to tide me over

ODST did not satisfy the need for real Halo. Sure, it gave a more realistic regular human soldier's POV in a futuristic setting, but it wasn't THE Halo we're so used to.
Weapons were amazing.
Maps are pretty good.
Campaign was short, but it was a good visualization for the point of the story where it's at.
Multiplayer game modes are awesome. (Another reason to go (or keep) Gold going!)
Firefight more fun.
All in all, it was a much-needed injection of real Halo to tide me over until the next release, if it ever comes out.

Gonna be game of the year there using new engines and systems. new wepons and armor. Great campagin and it will last longer if you play on Heroic. And Halo ODST was a way for Halo players to get the famous Recon Armor. And it was also made so people could play a new Halo game so they could wait a little longer for Reach.

Overall game is the most challenging of the Halo franchise. What was Legendary in previous games is now hard in this. Overall the story is well told and the scenery beautiful. Online multiplayer is fast past and great in many aspects, but completely different than in the previous games. With the addition of tech skills (jet pack, sprint, hologram, shield, etc.) the online games have taken to a new direction, making it harder for novice players to stand out against those that play it constantly.

After playing and loving Halo 2, Halo 3 and the rest seemed to leave me wanting. Well Halo: Reach brings back what made the franchise fun. The campaign is well paced and has a nice length to it. The story is one of the best in the Halo series. Graphics are updated and the best of any Halo game to date. The sound effects and music keep you pulled into the game and I found myself playing way late into the night without feeling like I wanted to quit. Multiplayer, is well balanced and the addition of the armor abilities and loadouts is a very nice addition. Overall, I think this is a well made game and one with plenty of replay value.

Best Halo Yet

I have to start out by saying this Halo game is probably the best spent 60 bucks you will spend on a game. The reason i say that is there is always something to do. Bungie updates this game with new daily and weekly challenges. The campaign is up to 4 player coop and is simply amazing. The achievements are all attainable with some time. I like Call of Duty online, Gears and Battlefield but i think this is the most well rounded multiplayer out there. I am not a big Halo fan. I am a much bigger Gears fan but i have to give credit where it is due. Halo Reach is an awesome game and has so many game modes to choose from. The fire fight and score attack modes are always a plus too. Everyone needs a solid Halo experience on their game rack. Very solid purchase.

First of all let me just say the person that gave this game a 1.0 and said it had bad graphics does not know what they are talking about. The graphics are very good, much better than Halo 3. The load outs are also a very nice addition to the multiplayer. It really makes you think about what is best for the map you are on. This game is also much more tactical which I like. The DMR is different from the BR but it is still good. So overall the beta is very good and I expect the game to be fun. Anyone who gives this game a 1.0 has not played the game and/or has not played many other games. Just think of this game as a combination of Call of duty and Halo.

Halo Reach was my intro to the Halo world. I was amazed by the detailed graphics, great music, and storyline. It prompted me to purchase Halo 4, and all the previous Halo games I could find for Xbox 360. It is definitely challenging, entertaining, and probably my favorite of all game franchises.
FYI-Careful playing this game around young kids. I did not realize my niece was watching me play this game one day, and it scared her(She's 5). It didn't help I had it hooked up to my surround sound system.

first off, if you have the money and debating whether to buy or not..just go with it..great game, although in my opinion its a lot to take in at first..new controls, new maps, new armor/equipment...but after the getting-used-to phase you should be good...its basically what you would want and expect from a continuation..the new weapons are cool and the campain does a decent job at presenting them to you..im not a die-hard halo fan..but i have followed the series..and this hasnt let me down..recommended for someone whose looking to buy a new game

5 Reasons Halo is Better than CoD
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
1. Overall throughout the Entire Halo series there has been one consistent, intricate and engaging storyline, complete with character development, plot twists and a timeline that cannot be matched.
2. Shields. Most people who say that shields are "cheap" do not fully understand the reason they are there. Shields add a level of strategy to your attack plan that one doesn't need when one can run really really fast and just thrust a knife anywhere on someones body. Heck, even in Halo the Energy Sword can be blocked. Strategy.
3. Vehicles. OMG. Vehicles. I love the Warthog, greatest multiplayer experience ever has been Driving the Warthog. I've thoroughly enjoyed driving around and around the map running people over, taking massive jumps and having the gunner mow down countless people and also other vehicles. Now CoD players might argue that they have Helicopters and C130s and such, but there's a different aspect that i find much more enjoyable when you actually see your character model IN the vehicle and controlling every movement, not just the guns.
4. Halo Reach: Assassinations. Awesome, so glad they added something like this in there. Melee attacks have always been fun in Halo, and this just adds a better range of gameplay AND another factor to the strategy portion: Do you assassinate the guy right in front of you, or do you not risk being killed while in the Assassination Motion? Plus there's nothing more frustrating than being assassinated when you don't see it.
5. Bungie.net plain and simple CoD has NOTHING on Bungie.net. It tracks all your stats, every medal you have ever gotten, in every halo game you've ever played. I mean, c'mon if you REALLY want to prove who's got the better game, just look at the stats... Plus you can upload all your saved games and movies to Bungie.net so you can show the world how awesome you really are.
Yeah, you can record your games, move the camera to get the best shot, save, edit, upload, there's so much more that I think Halo has to offer as a Game Series overall that CoD just doesn't match up.

Not as cool as previous Halo games

I can't same I am huge on the multiplayer for Reach. It takes way too long to kill now, the way Halo 3 was, was perfect. Also the assault rifle is terrible for damage.
Also the perks (or whatever they are called in Halo) are ridiculous. So much noob stuff you can do with them to avoid getting killed. I liked the Halo franchise before because multiplayer was just simple, pure, fun. Now they add these perks and make killing harder and it just takes away from what Halo was to me.
I played Halo 3 all the time, I think like 2000 online games played and I can still say I can go play it and have fun. But Reach, I doubt I'm going to make it to 200 games played, I'm getting sick of it now, just not as fun.
I also hate the ranking system, it takes for ever to rank. For whatever reason it was more fun and cool playing Halo 3 and ranking up every 10 wins. Now you have to play 100 games to get to the next rank.
All the maps are just awful.
Now for the campaign, which I haven't completed yet, almost there though. I can already tell from how quick I have gotten through the missions I have completed, this game is extremely short. But I will say I am having more fun with this campaign than I did with Halo 3's. So the campaign is awesome. Halo 2's campaign is still the best though.
Average game

BEST Halo ever made...

As this is possibly the last Halo game made by Bungie, they decided to go all out with it and they succeded in making their best game yet. The campaign is beautifully moving. The tragedy surronding the fall of Reach will get to you. There is not much time for character developement, but what you see of Noble Team is substantial. The length is about 10 to 12 hours depending on your skill level, and difficulty. This is actually the longest Halo campaign yet. There are some instances where you will think that you have started a new mission, and it will be just a sub level within that same mission. The missions never get repetitive. The gameplay is switched up very often, so as to always feel fresh and exciting. The graphics are the best that I have seen on the Xbox 360. Zoom in, on a marine, and you will see the amount of detail in character design. You are able to customize the look of your Spartan with different attachments to many parts of your armor, and they show in in-game cutscenes. The sound is amazing, and the score is one of the best that I have heard. It perfectly captures the tragedy of all that is happening.I will not spoil anything, but this game is tied to the Halo trilogy, and Halo fans will like the reasons why. I have not played any multi yet, but on disc this Halo has the most multi modes of any thus yet, and new maps will surely be added over time. Simply put, if you are are a Halo fan, or not this game is amazing. Even if you do not plan to play multiplayer, the campaign is reason enough to own this game. It was designed for replayability. BUY THIS GAME!

I enjoyed playing this game very much, I just wish it was a bit longer.I would also of liked it a bit more if I and my entire team were not picked off one by one and slaughtered in the end. Other than that, gameplay and graphics were excellant, co-op is a blast, too. Definitely liked all the new toys and weapons...big improvement from ODST. Looking forward to some D.L.C. and the next installment, of coarse.

The story line of this game is a great addition to the Halo series. Game play is fun. With some new additions and some classic remakes, including new ways to use power-ups and old school maps and the original magnum pistol. Matchmaking is intense and ranking system is easier to understand. The ability to upgrade armor and the benefits of using Halo Waypoint further the playability. This game, is Epic.

This is my first foray into the Halo Universe and I am impressed. The graphics are top notch, the storyline is interesting albeit tragic, and the online mulitplayer is solid. Bungie seems to have thrown every bell and whistle you can think of into Halo Reach which makes it an insane value for $15! Reference quality game that pushes the limits of the 360. Highly Recommended!

This game has been a joy. The campaign was for the most part wonderful. However, the end of the campaign was a little confusing for me, but this is also my first Halo game. The online mulitiplayer is very polished. Beware, it is also very addictive. The control are very tight and the game runs seamlessly 99% of the time. The graphics are pretty sharp and the sound is top notch.

Anyone who has played any game in the Halo series knows that this game, like every other, precedes its reputation. Halo: Reach takes the series to a whole new level with a great story line, wonderful maps, and as usual - an unmatched multi-player experience. Always setting the bar - Bungie has once again outdone itself. This a must buy for any FPS gamer.

NOT like Halo 3, BUT Intriguing Changes

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
First of all anyone thinking of buying Halo: Reach hoping it is similar to Halo 3, do not. Reach is very different than Halo 3 by the addition of loadouts which are your suit powers. You can pick between four for Spartans which are: Sprint, Stealth(Active Camo), Jet Pack, and something similar to a bubble shield that depletes any surrounding enemies shields when you minor invincibility goes away. For some reason one person on here said that Halo 3 had better graphics than Reach, that is completely false and I have no idea why he would say that. Matchmaking is also much better(BETA) than Halo 3 because you rank up based on your performance and not if you have horrible teammates that cause you to lose and rank down like in Halo 3. Also after each match you gain credits that you can use to purchase different armor and armor attachments which adds a high amount of customization. To anyone very competitive, matchmaking assigns you to I believe weekly tiers so you will play with people around you skill level which I believe will help stop new accounters like in Halo 3 where people would buy 1 months and play as a level 1 even though they had a skill level of a 45--50. A good note to add that hopefully they will change in the official version of the game is toning town the grenade damage because they are VERY powerful in the beta. I hope the review helps most of you and on a side note I have only played Halo 3/ODST and the Reach Beta. I played a little bit of Halo 2, but that was when it was really really old.

Best Halo, but does not reinvent FPS wheel.
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This is the best Halo yet: visually, audio, gameplay, and depth. But, even then, after playing for a month now I question whether Bungie could have done more. The graphics are solid but they aren't groundbreaking, or even the quality of a AAA title all of the time. Fantastic detail on the spartans and enemies, but at times the environments do not look all that great. The sound remains of the same quality as the others. Controls are spot on. Multiplayer is still very good, and depth has been added.
So why not give 5 stars? Because, frankly, competition is fierce and this title does not stand out from the pack all that much. It feels slower than COD and BFBC2. It doesn't achieve the same sense of energy as those titles, and as noted earlier, it doesn't look as good.
The biggest issue is that Bungie could have done more. Some of the multiplayer levels are retreads from older titles. Loadouts help but the point system is meaningless. You can buy new armor, but its all for nothing cause they don't help you in any way. The ranking system gives more leverage to people that play a lot than people the have skills. In both FPS titles mentioned above, skill is the top priority for ranking up.
This is the best Halo, but Bungie could have done more.
