When you buy this coffee maker, make sure you are aware that you need to use a cone shaped filter and the typical round ones.

Positives:
- Price
- Uses cone filter
- Coffee tastes great and stays hot
Negatives:
- You must put the water in the carafe to measure and then pour into the reservoir. If you use the measurements on the reservoir window you will not be using enough water. I don't understand why they even bother to have measurements on the reservoir window since they are useless
- The lid on the carafe does not "snap" into place. I frequently recheck to make sure it is on solid. And I always press my finger on the lid when pouring since I don't trust it will stay in place.

This coffeemaker is excellent in every way! Especially like how you can adjust the warming plate temperature (the coffee never gets that scumy stuff floating on top!) and the black plastic 'lip protector' (? not sure what else to call it) so there is zero staining around the top. The coffee strength can be adjusted as well. When my old coffeemaker died, I went through every cone basket coffeemaker (my one nonnegotiable requirement) in town, but they were all substandard/disappointing so I went out on a limb (for me) and ordered this one, sight unseen and couldn't be more pleased with its performance!

I bought this coffee maker for my mom for a Christmas gift and she loves it! She had a 4-cup maker but needed something larger for when she has company over. It is easy to use and doesn’t have all the fancy bells and whistles that so many appliances have these days.

When you get up, add H2O, a filter & your coffee grounds & in less than 5 minutes you are enjoying your 1st cup of Joe for the day !
If you want a simple coffee maker, this is it
No programming, no clock, just an on /off button on the side of unit.
Then only way it could get simpler is if you boiled a pot of water & added it to your instant coffee mix..
This is the perfect coffee maker for us

It makes a good cup of coffee. It's a simple coffee maker. No clock - no programming. Just a switch for on and off. One note is that it doesn't have auto shut-off, but the switch is lit so you know it's on. I like it.

I was looking for a replacement coffeemaker for a Gavalia model that was on its last "drips," and I found this Hamilton Beach model on sale at Best Buy. For the cost of a couple pounds of good whole bean coffee, I got myself a nice coffeemaker with a basket for #4 cone filters. I have been pleased with the ease of brewing and cleaning, and would recommend this model, especially in comparison to more costly models that might give you more bells and whistles but not a better cup of coffee.

I wanted a plain no frills maker. This was a replacement for my Mr, Coffee. I wanted a "V" #4 filter to make a good cup of coffee and this fills the bill. The basket lifts out, so you can empty the used filter without dripping all over the place. I bought 800 paper #4 filters for next to nothing and they work perfect in this. I use this every other day and give this Hamilton Beach a high rating.

There are no timers on this unit. There is only a heating element to keep the carafe hot. As a result, you can't program the pot to brew your coffee before you get up in the morning and if you forget to turn it off when you go to bed with some coffee in the pot you will have a scorched mess in the morning.

I really like this simple well designed coffee maker. Recommend no more than 9 cups at a time as it can cause the grinds to go over the top of the filter if you make 12 cups. It makes a superior cup of coffee; I like that it takes time to drip through the cone shape filter.
