When my old Hamilton Beach slow cooker stopped working, I went shopping for a new one. I thought this would be nice since it doesn't get hot to the touch. Well it doesn't get hot to the touch but with the cooking vessel/pot is an odd shape and the slow cooker liners don't fit well in it. The cooking vessel is metal instead of crock - it gets hotter and cooks faster than I am used to. I have to adjust cooking times on most recipes.
I use my slow cooker a lot, and tend to go through them rather quickly. When I do, the replacement won't be this model. I"ll get the more traditional slow cooker with the crock cooking vessel.
