My husband was dying to get his hands on a Panini maker so we got this one. It is good one for the money and it has a large surface which is why we bought this one. Easy clean up.

This is a nice product. The lid swivels/pivots which allows the heating surface to remain in contact with the food and create an even cooking. The unit has a light on the top that indicates when the unit is on although is pretty tough to read and tell if it is actually hot enough and pre-heated to start cooking on. The unit is a nice heavy unit, meaning that its not cheap and flimsy, but not too heavy to create a hassle to move and use. I opted for a larger unit and it is still not any larger than a George Foreman would be but feels more solid. The major downside is inability to remove the cooking surfaces to clean, plain and simple. This unit is very hard to keep nice and clean like new because of this. The only way to clean really is to turn the unit upside down on its back and clean the lid with a soft sponge and soap and then sit upright for bottom side. The nice shinny top looks great but all too easily scratches during this cleaning process. Yes I may be very particular but I like my brand new things to look new for as long as possible and to stay as clean as a new one. Also the lack of a drip collection system is a downer because you pretty much have to spray some sort of cooking spray on the cooking surfaces. When you open the lid, the spray will drip down the back side, getting your cords and counter all dirty. I think maybe an extra George drip pan would work in its place. Other than the non-removing surfaces and no drip container, it would be a nice 4.0-4.8 star product.
