We appreciate your concern and wanted to let you know that there was a mistake in the specifications for this coffee maker. The specifications listed that it had an automatic shut off feature, when in fact it is does not. We have since corrected the error with the specification and sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused. We hold ourselves to higher standards than this and want to make sure we meet the expectations created by our product dimensions in the future.

If you fill the basket half full or more with coffee, you'll find grounds in your coffee. The water comes out with such force that it splashes the coffee grounds over the filter. Had an old model that died. Wish I had kept the Brew head. I have reported this to HB. No planned resolution.

One day I used it 3x in a row and it died. I bought the same one again because it has a good look and no clock. As a basic coffee maker it makes good coffee!

definition of "permanent filter" at issue

All Hamilton Beach documentation agrees, it's permanent. I must define the word differently. This coffee maker still requires a paper filter. A permanent filter is reusable and should be able to go into the dishwasher. I bought it ... didn't get further than the in-box paperwork to discover I needed #4 cone filters. Returned it. Another brand, calling their filter "reusable" is what I ended up with.
