Not knowing anything about guitar stands, I did some research online. Hamilton Stands was one of two companies that make the best stands for acoustic guitars. This one in particular is popular and pretty free of defects for the amount of reviews I read. It's a great deal for the price.

Easy to setup and adjust, I feel comfortable that it will keep my instruments safe, and I like the hanging mechanic. Will likely buy more of these.

Have bought at least 5 from Best Buy, will he buying more, amazing price, excellent stand, well-built, super sturdy for basses or guitars, great look with the powder-coated matte-black finish, so much better than other stands I have tried that are twice the price but half the quality!

A lot more sturdy in person than appears in the picture. Looks kind of "wire-ry" and "bendable" but it's surprisingly solid quality metal that does the job neatly and compactly holding my guitar. It has my recommendation.

I've owned a few of the "chrome" versions of this stand for many years, and I've always loved them for my basses. So I thought a couple of black ones would be nice for use on stage. However, I just got them today and discovered a major flaw -- the black power-coated finish is too slick, and makes it nearly impossible to lock the shaft in place, and especially for a heavy bass guitar! I've tried tightening the nut as tight as I can, but the shaft still drops when I hang my bass on it. I never had any such problem over the years with my chrome stands. Very disappointing!!
