    Upbeat and entertaining

I originally reviewed this on June 15, 2008. I personally feel that the cd was overall very strong and entertaining. I admit that I can understand the viewpoints of both the positive and negative reviews. However in my opinion this cd helped solidify why Madonna still is and continues to be a shining example to others to always follow your dreams and that anything is possible. This cd is the type of cd that grows on you each time you listen to it. With that being said here are my opinions on each of the songs candy shop 8/10 : a very strong song with exotic beats that would be perfect for a dance club. 4 minutes 7/10 a good collaboration with timbaland and justin timberlake with a strong horn. give it to me 8/10: an excellent pairing with pharell that makes excellent use of the drums and conveys a message that you are here to win in life and that she will continue on regardless of what others may say. heartbeat 10/10: One of the best songs on the cd in my opinion. I listen to this track alot on my way to work. miles away 9/10: sounds inspired from love profusion but a beautiful song on how love can be appreciated even more in a long distance relationship. she's not me 9/10: One of my other favorite songs about a woman telling her man that the other woman doesn't compare to her but does it in a groovy and fun way. incredible 8/10: This song grew on me after the second listen and I like how the song praises her love in a very sensual way. beat goes on 6/10: Another song grower but in my opinion is a listenable song about having fun and enjoying the moment. dance 2 night 6/10: An ok song for mellow slow dancing moments. spanish lesson 7/10: An interesting song with some spanish words in it that may not compare to la isla bonita but is still very strong and upbeat with singing about a girl who loves to fall in love and adds the catchy phrase "when you do your homework. devil wouldn't recognize you 10/10 A very strong and magnetic song about her wanting to release her lover but keeps coming back to him more and more. voices 7/10 A good collaboration with Justin Timberlake. Madonna carefully crafts an original masterpiece with this song with making the listener think about the societal master and slave roles. All in all I think that this cd is perfect to listen to for a good and uplifting emotional boost.

    EAR CANDY

Like another reviewer, I have been a Madonna fan for a long time - since 1983. I am excited about this album because I believe it may sell very well thanks to the hit "4 Minutes" and the collaboration with Timberlake and Timbaland and Pharrell, etc... I need to remind other reviewers that Madonna makes albums that have to be unpeeled in layers - truly works of art. When she released Confessions on a Dance Floor I wasn't sure how much I liked it, but I am proud to say that after a gazillion listens it now ranks in my Top 3 Madonna albums (along with Like A Prayer and Ray of Light). Certain songs that I wasn't sure about on this album have already grown on me to the point they are now among my favorite tracks. I had some concerns about her choice to work with already established producers on this album, but she proves that she knows what she is doing. I really love every song so it would be kinda ridiculous to list my early faves since I really love them all. I can't wait to see what she does with these songs on her upcoming fall tour! Okay, I do love Give It 2 Me, Dance 2Night, Heartbeat, Candy Shop, Miles Away, Incredible, Beat Goes On, Devil Wouldn't Recognize You, 4 Minutes. For those who complain about Spanish Lesson, I need to point out that she has a fine tradition of including latin-themed tracks as one of the last tracks on her albums - La Isla Bonita on True Blue, Spanish Eyes on Like A Prayer. Voices also follows in her tradition of final album tracks like Gone (Music), Mer Girl (Ray of Light), Like It Or Not (Confessions...) - songs that conclude the album and leave us with something to think about. Name another pop artist who has remained this consistently relevant for this long. You can't. Madonna Rules!

    Different Approach

I truly believe that "Hard Candy" will turn some folks from older generations on to Hip-Hop music. This is definitely a different approach by Madonna; I think she has succeeded. 1 - Candy Shop - Lots of drums/odd beat. Not a good starting song 2 - 4 Minutes - Most "hip-hop" sounding song on the CD 3 - Give It 2Me - 2nd Single. My personal favorite 4 - Heartbeat - Worst song on the CD... could be much better 5 - Miles Away - Great song. Will appeal to older fans 6 - She's Not Me - A very "Disco" feel. One of the best songs. 7 - Incredible - Reminds me of Britney meets Celine Dion 8 - Beat Goes On - PHENOMENAL! If you don't like rap, you won't like the 2nd half 9 - Dance 2night - Long intro, but good dance track 10 - Spanish Lesson - Out of place. Doesn't fit with the rest of the CD 11 - Devil - I have mixed feelings. Ballad with techno sounds? 12 - Voices - It is worth buying the CD just to hear Madonna's vocals on this track.

One of her Best Albums Ever

I have been a huge Madonna fan for a long time about 22 years and im 28 now and this is by far one of her best albums overall she has done. I just read a review someone posted on here and I have to disagree with a few things he had said about the tracks. 1. Candy Shop/Great lead off track. cute song 2. 4 Minutes/Great lead off single very catchy 3. Give it 2 me/2nd single. catchy song but not one of my favs. 4. Heartbeat/Classic Madonna. cute and fresh. love it 5. Miles Away/The Strongest track on the album. brillant and gonna be a huge hit. 6. She's Not Me/Depiste being to long its very catchy madonna meets deborah harry. 7. Incredible/Kind of iffy on this one. listenable but kind of odd for her. 8. The Beat Goes On/Awesome Dance track features Kayne West at the end. 9. Dance 2 night/Another strong track. very catchy, disco and r&b with Justin Timberlake on backing vocals. 10. Spanish Lession/my lease favorite. madonna singing in spanish with a latin r&b groove. very forgetable. 11. Devil Wouldnt Reconize You/Second Strongest track. very Cry me a river meets Nelly Furtardo and Frozen. its a techno hip hop ballad. awesome madonna vocals. 12. Voices/Best way to end the album. makes you think and madonnas vocals are on target. overall wondeful album with the exception of spanish lession and incredible. worth buying you wont be dissapointed.

    Her MADGEsty's latest

Madonna's latest LP Hard Candy brings more than her previous few releases. While not as instantly catchy as Confessions, it has some songs that quickly grow on you. The best two songs are "The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" and "Dance 2nite." Of those the latter is probably the strongest song on the entire album. The drawback is that the album may be a little too hip-hop oriented for the average Madonna fan.

Another Great Effort from the Material Girl

Madonna has done it yet again. This time the Queen of Pop has decided to conquer the realm of hip-hop and she pulls it off surprisingly enough. The lyrics are catchy, the melodies are danceable and overall it's a great album! I highly recommend to any Madonna fan and/or to any fan of fun music!

Sound of the album is so Madonna different again. If you expected Confesions on the Dancefloor # 2, you are in for a surprise. Hard Candy is still a good album, very up to date and fresh.

Every song on this CD is good. Madonna shines best when on her own so 4 minutes is not the strongest track here. Check out "Miles Away" and "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You.

This is a great album. Just like the bring catchy colors ont he album, the music is upbeat and catchy (and great to dance to). Tracks 3 and 6 aren't so great, but the other songs make up for them.

    Not the best Madonna CD

I'm a huge Madonna fan but I should have known when I heard "4 minutes" on the radio, that the rest of the CD would be like that. The lyrics aren't very deep and the beats arent really anything to rave about. This is not her best work, she definetly flopped on this one.

This album is Madonna kinda conforming to the new sound. I don't think her voice fits in most of the songs. The songs are good, but I think another singing them would add even more.

SORRY BUT THIS IS NOT THE BEST MADONNA CD

I have been a Madonna fan for an extremely long time and this is not her best work. There is only one track that stands out for me and its Candy Shop. I was really feeling 4 Mintues when it first came out and was hoping the rest of the cd was not like the lead single. I think she should have pulled in a few more producers on here or more writers. I'm just not feeling it right now and I was so excited that a new album was coming. I know the remixes will be sick so I hope they release them for purchase.
