Metallica is back with Hardwired to Self-Destruct! Great double disc album that just rocks your socks off! All four title tracks are awesome along with all the other songs. This is the album we have been waiting for and Metallica did not disappoint!

While Metallica have been around for some 30+ years, this is only there 10th studio album. For what ever reason they have decided at this point to attempt to reach read as much old ground as possible. With backlash even only at their fifth release they have been fighting to establish their own sound within the public ear, and after years of hidden just not taking home and then came around with death magnetic and gave us something new but also old at the same time. Hardwired to Self-destruct does not continue the path as laid down by its predecessor, rather it opens and closes with a taste of the fast thrashy Metallica that fans have been clamoring for but book ending a mostly bland album that is a senseless two disk effort (seriously, why a double for this?) which gives absolutely nothing away upon first listen. I cannot honestly recommend this outright.

I began listening to Metallica when they released their very first album "Kill 'Em All" and would have to say this is one of my favorite albums they've released in their career. I would put this up there with some of their earlier albums.

really depends on what you like some of the older fans don't like the evolution of Metallica they have managed to stay fresh and relevant if you enjoy that evolution than you will enjoy this album if you are stuck in 1986 than maybe not

Fantastic album!! A definite must have for any mighty Met fan!! Great jams awesome follow up to Death Magnetic!! Absolutely love Murder One the song they wrote for the now passed Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead!! Definitely get this album!!

If you're already a fan of Metallica this is a really good album, I'll call it a mix of Death Magnetic and the self titled album. 1 or 2 songs that are generic by their standards but otherwise pretty satisfying. They won't make any new fans with this album but they're looking out for the ones they have.

This is one of the best Metallica albums that they ever put out. This album should of came out after Justice. From the beginning to the end it is amazing and the best song is by far Dream no more. They absolutely killed it on this album.

Metallica is my favorite band and they have not put out a new album in 8 years. So you know I had to buy this as soon as it came out. It rocks a lot like their older stuff from the 80s and early 90s!!! It's a must for any Metallica fan.

BEEN A METALLICA FAN SINCE DAY 1 AND WOULD RATE THIS CD AS VERY GOOD, BUT NOT QUITE GREAT. HAS SOME THROWBACK FEEL TO THE KILL 'EM ALL/RIDE THE LIGHTNING/MASTER OF PUPPETS DAYS AND IS AN ENJOYABLE LISTEN. WOULD RECOMMEND FOR ANY TRUE METALLICA FAN AND ANYONE INTERESTED IN SOME HARD ROCKING METAL.

Bought this on the day of release and too me? Its pretty darn good and its not another St. anger flop. a lot of songs I can hear some riffs from Master and, and justice. Pick it up, play it and turn it up!! Highly recommended.

I hear a lot of old stuff creeping into these new songs, which doesn't bother me, but 2 cd's seems like they're trying to compensate for lack of hits or something. Their last concert didn't even feature a single song from Death Magnetic! Now will they take even longer before a new album???

Honestly, this double CD is their best album ever!! This really takes them back to their roots...Master of Puppets, And Justice for All, the black album. Great stuff. Headbanger metal doesn't get any better. Get this CD!!

The Kings of heavy metal are back! Long awaited follow up to Death Magnetic and it does not disappoint!

Well worth the wait after Death Magnetic. This has been in the CD player in my car since it was released and I don't anticipate it getting removed anytime soon. Great return to their older styles and awesome to drive to!

Best album of the year by far! It might take a few listens to appreciate some of the songs on here like ManUnkind, I am Savage or Here comes revenge. The other songs you will love from the first spin of this album!

This is a good album, although I still prefer Death Magnetic out of the more recent albums. There are plenty of great guitar riffs, and while this doesn't exactly sound like 80s era Metallica, it definitely feels and sounds like a good solid, heavy Metallica album.

Lars feels angry again, Jame's vocals and fret work are good, Tru sounds good, Kirk sounds OK, but has clearly gone into vacation mode. All in all some pretty good stuff on this CD. Why did they split 12 songs onto 2 CDs?! If you like Metallica you will like this.

Great Album - nice return to the 90s sound but with some modern touches and some old skool riffage. Between the 2 discs - you get 1 great disc of music - a few fillers or not my favorites. If you like Metallica, you wil find something on this disc that you like.

I've only listened once or twice so far, but it seems that this one follows in the footsteps of Death Magnetic, which was a welcome return to a HEAVier Metallica. As far as I'm concerned these last 2 albums are better than anything since the Black Album.
