I was looking for a portable speaker and was leaning towards the JBL Extreme until I heard the harman/kardon - Onyx Studio 4. If you are looking for that ole skool thumping bass then go for the JBL. I must say that I preferred the harman/kardon. The sound is crisp and clear, you can actually hear the different instruments and the bass is wonderful as well. This is my personal opinion after listening to both speakers.

For a relatively small wireless speaker this things sounds amazing. It might not be the best for you if you like over-cooked loud, thumpy bass but if you like clean, pure sound this might be the tool for you. One things that bugs me is that there is little mention of what’s behind the grille clothe. The BB info says one speaker. If they mean just the unit itself, fine, but inside and on the back (a reflex port) there’s plenty more than just one speaker (or driver if you will). Take a look... this thing is loaded. I’m about to pull the trigger on another since they’re on sale today

We have 2 of these, 1 in our Master Bathroom and 1 in the Kitchen/Great Room and they sound incredible! Also because of their potability we take 1 of them outside when needed. Now we have a fairly good size Mbath and it fills that room crazy loud with amazing clarity but our GreatRoom is 22'x35' and you wouldn't believe how filling this little speaker is. My wife loves to jam all kinds of music from classic rock to hip hop and it can handle it all. Awesome bass and Crystal clear highs! I was very skeptical about spending so much on this lil speaker. But once we really hurd it, we bought another! Not only do I Highly recommend this speaker, but several of my friends and family now own it too!

Got this on the black Friday special so it was a really good deal. Opened at Christmas and have tested it and it sounds really nice. You can crank this to a decent volume and it still sounds great. A little on the big side but that is not an issue to me. They have a nice option where you can chain multiple speakers together that sounds interesting if they have the sale next year that is....

With a deep bass, this speaker will shock you at how full the sound is. It’s robust and clear with a richness that rival many sound bars. And at the on-sale price of less than $100 - it’s the best bang for the buck speaker in its class. Great for college kids or small apartments to use as a speaker for music or even small TVs. Hard part was connecting to Alexa. Will take a little work with that device.

Excellent speaker, the rich sound fills the room. Very user friendly and easy to set up. It is a great looking speaker that fits right in with any decore. The deep bass makes all the difference.

The bass is good and the sound is great . Bluetooth connectivity is good too.

I went to Best Buy to purchase a blue tooth speaker for when we are outdoors. Spoke to a sales guy he recommended this speaker since it was on sale for $150 originally $400, didn't bring it home that night. Looked at the reviews of how great this speaker sounded. Went back purchased it and I don't regret it at all. Great sound, bass is on point and the vocals sound amazing.

Before purchasing this speaker I read quite a few reviews, and it helped that one of my clients used it at their party. I bought it on sale and absolutely love quality. It is worth the original price too. I have another blue tooth speaker of good quality, but this one really puts another to shame. Great quality, good bass, good looking speaker! Hight recommend it.

I love this speaker so much I have purchased 4 of them. Great bass without distortion and can handle highs clearly. Kinda bulky to carry around but sound quality is better than my nose sound link or any other Bluetooth speaker I have owned. I bought on sale for 150 but would have paid more

I purchased two of these speakers for Christmas Gift to myself. I paired both of these speakers together and cant believe the sound quality that came from these speakers! I own a pair of Old School Cerwin Vega"s with the BIG 15" woofer and two mid range, and a Super Tweeter. I get into trouble with these Cerwin Vega"s, so decided to get something smaller. I had these Harmon Kardon speakers only @ half volume and could not believe he Bass these speakers put out! AWESOME! I went upstairs to grab something, and when I came back down the song {All About The Bass} started to play, and it got so loud, I forgot that I had the Harmon Kardon speakers playing, thought that I had my Cerwin Vegs'a playing and tried to turn the volume don, until I realized that I was playing the Harmon Kardon speakers! I don't think though that the battery life is 8 hrs. I got about 4-5 hrs of music out of these. I have no problem with that though, because these speakers ROCK! If you can afford it, buy TWO of these and pair them for some OUTSTANDING sound..

We purchased the original Onyx speaker 3+ years ago and were impressed by the sound quality compared to other portable speakers. The original still works well ( except for the battery) and we decided to jump on the recent sale price for the most recent version. The size is about the same but the appearance is a little more subtle. The sound is rich, powerful and true, making listening of classical to rock music and everything in between very enjoyable. Turning on and off or disconnecting no longer has that annoying beep. There is a soft musical tone when it is turned on and I have not appreciated any noise when disconnecting my music source. I have not used it yet to talk on my phone. The intriguing bonus is being able to potentially connect it to other Onyxs ( new versions only) and enhance the listening treat. I just have to decide whether to get another. I recommend this without reservation. You will not be disappointed.

The Harman/Kardon - Onyx Studio 4 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is awesome... expensive but awesome! Got it on sale during black Friday so got a great deal. It would be tough pay retail for this and be as happy. That aside, the base is deep, the sound is full, it's a good looking speaker. I was afraid the neighbors were going to hear me jamming.

I started with the Onyx 2. I had two of them and the legs broke on both, but the speaker was so great that I overlooked it. When the 3 came out, I got one but the legs broke again. This one, the Onyx 4, looks like they fixed that issue so the legs won't break off. The speaker is so amazing. The sound will blow you away. I highly recommend!

got this speaker on a sale and once i got i was surprised at the sound, its portability and battery life. it fills the room up with its sound and has great bass. and it also look nice

Overall the speaker has a great sound to it. Nice bass and volume, it’s easy to hook up to Bluetooth on our phone, but a challenge to hook up to tv/computer.

I own both the Bose Colorlink II and now the Onyx Studio 4 and, for a well-rounded Sound, there is absolutely no comparison! The Onyx blows Bose away from an output standpoint. It isn’t just loud, it’s beautiful as well. The charge is also a plus. The Onyx plays for longer per charge than my Bose. Well worth the purchase price!

I heard this speaker playing in the store and was surprised when I learned the sound was coming from such a small package. I waited until black Friday to purchase this and I am super happy I now have it in my house to listen to all of my music. It gives off a clean and precise sound and can get quite loud if you need it to.
