Really great western drama, a bit on the graphic/dark side. All characters are well played. Story line is the construction of a railroad to the Rocky Mountains and the merciless efforts to accomplish the task. No holds barred in the realism and although the scenery is less than spectacular, the story line is extremely well written and the scenery is authentic given the nature of the programs setting.

Anson Mount plays Cullen Bohanon, a former Confederate soldier who is hunting down the Union regiment who killed his wife and son. On the last leg of his revenge, he finds himself employed for the same railroad as one of his suspects. But the honest labor and relationships begin to take their toll on his plan for justice. A good man must decide whether to rectify the past or help serve the future. Great show. Expect nothing else from AMC.

I don't usually watch that many westerns but this story is well thought out for a western about the building of the transcontinental railroad. They picked good actors and actresses to play the characters in this TV series. There is lots of action, indian fights and a growing town. Can't wait for season 2 to come out on DVD.
