Those of us that remember Steve Reeves as the quintessential Hercules will never accept an imitator - nonetheless - this is a fun and entertaining movie. Johnson does a wonderful job as our hero - BUT - Warning - if you want to continue to believe in Hercules as a GOD performing godlike quests - this film debunks that model. Watch it and you'll see why. Could have been better without the director feeling the need to show how a human could have accomplished Hercules's feats

The Rock makes a great Hercules. Some very visually stunning scenes make this great to watch, and the fighting scenes make the environment come to life. I knocked one star off because I was expecting more from a sound perspective. This was also advertised on many web sites as another Dolby atmos soundtrack, but was just in 7.1 true Hd. I believe they could have done more with enveloping sound with all the fight scenes in this movie. But a pretty good action flick

I enjoyed this version of Hercules not because of the Rock as the titular hero but because I'm always intrigued with mythological stories. Hercules is by far one of the greatest known mythological character, and has been portrayed on screen, movies and TV, by many. This story of Hercules as just a man is very interesting and grounds the myth in reality. His deeds and strenght of character immortalised Hercules as a person whose deeds made him a God amongst us.

2 Hercules movies in the same year? Well, I enjoyed this movie better since it has more of the human touch, like how a legend is born with his strength and determination to succeed while the other is more mythological. It helped that this movie is headlined by THE ROCK, who is one of my fave action stars. The supporting casts are all good, especially the prophet, who is a "hit-or-miss" guy, and the nephew who is tasked to spread the legacy of Hercules.

Good actors in a Hercules movie? If you are a Steve Reeves fan this movie isn't for you. Dwayne Johnson "the Rock" can act ans so can Ralph Fiennes ( Hades Clash of Titans), John Hurt (Hellboy's father) and Ian McShane(BLACKBEARD/ Pirates). Yes there are women in this movie but these four character actors remind me of the entourage for a John Wayne movie only with foreign accents. The twist with this Hercules is it shows his mortal side as a soldier.

Its a pretty good action flick with the Rock in a starring role as Hercules. There have been a number of Hercules made over the recent years and this is by far the best. it gives a new slant on an old story but the action is the main focal point in this film. If you like Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson and his other action films then you will also like this one. It does have some weaknesses like plot continuations but they can be easily overlooked.

Despite being a fan of Dwayne "Rock" Johnson, I was a little skeptical about him portraying Hercules. Not a lot of actors can handle period pieces. However, the movie turned out to be fun and action packed and I particularly enjoyed Ian McShane's character, Amphiaraus. Granted this movie will not garner the Rock an Oscar nod, but it was still fun to watch, and hey at the very least there's lots of Rock Eye Candy to behold.

Given the many different adaptations and retelling of the Hercules story over the years I wasn't expecting much from this film but I was pleasantly surprised. This version of Hercules maintains the descendents from Zuess and other supernatural aspects of the charachter but also mixes in a far more everyday relatable reliance on help from skilled mortal friends to aid in defeating rival armies and other foes. Add to that a storyline with deception and betrayal as well as a touch of political corruption and greed and you get a pretty entertaining movie with 3d effects to enhance it all

I love mythology movies...this one is no different. Totally different take on the Hercules hero...here he is portrayed as a superhero...but you find the truth that the real heroes are his friends as they make him into the demigod. Lots of action and i thought it had a great story!

I'm an action movie junkie. I don't care too much for deep storylines that are confusing and hard to understand. When I watch a movie I just want to be entertained and this movie did that. It's different from what I was expecting it to be but I liked the twist on the mighty Hercules mythology. This one was way better than the other Hercules movie that came out recently with that Twilight actor Kellen Lutz.

This movie shows Hercules as a human being and not as a god. This movie proofs that a hero is nobody without his companions and friends. The people around him make him of what he is. I like Dwayne Johnson as Hercules a lot. Just proves that this actor does not care about big money earning movies but still cares about morals and values of life.

Suspend your disbelief for an hour and forty minutes and watch this action flick starring Dwayne Johnson a.k.a The Rock. It's a simplistic yet good story with good action and humor. It has some good visual effects also. It's not as unrated as I thought based of the unrated label it holds now on DVD/Blu Ray but it's still good.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson actually pulled off a good Hercules. His size and stature basically make him a god on earth to begin with. This story line follows a comic book arc based on the Thrace Wars and for me was a different from what I normally am used to seeing when it comes to Hercules. Overall, it was a 4 out of 5!

The ROCK, although it seems he prefers his birth name now, battles ferocious & humongous lions, serpents, armies, etc. with some very hot ladies by his side and incredible action sequences that go beyond the Scorpion King! Rock does a good job of bringing a humanity to the Son of Zeus. Even though some of the special effects were a little over the top, the majority of the battle scenes are some terrific eye candy. Great popcorn flick; however, it's not going to win any awards.(At least not any that an actor TRULY wants to receive)

A bit like his role in The Scorpion King but on a higher level. If you like action this film won't disappoint. If you are a Dwayne Johnson fan, again, this film won't disappoint. I didn't see it at the theater so I purchased it for the reasons stated and was happy I did. Well worth the cost of the blue-ray.

I wanted to see this in the theater and didn't have time. I bought this knowing I have not been disappointed with a movie the Rock has started in. I expected to love the movie since I like mythology. It had great acting with bad writing. *sigh* I am glad I got it just to add to my Dwayne Johnson collection.

He's amazing. I watched the movie because I'm an avid fan of Dwane Johnson. Playing Hercules is an added bonus for me. And the special effects, the action scenes?, well everything is worth it! I didn't come to watch his movie for the storyline.i watch to enjoy myself and I have my money's worth! I love this movie because I never sit in front of the screen to see the flaws and its shortcomings! I didn't go to see an Oscar film, I go to watch and enjoy!

Yes, I know Hollywood still releases movies with similar plots within months of each other, and one is bound to be other than the other and this is the clear winner. Great picture quality, audio is loud and crisp and terrific extras and good, not great, 3D picture but still, its a looker!!!!

Very good action,sci fi movie,have already let a friend watch,said really good flick. I think the rock was a great Hercules,in my opinion much better than the other moviie the legend of Hercules. I also thought the drsgon and lion looked very realistic. As well, I give it two thumbs up !!!
